Heading home tonight!! So excited, feeling good, better than I thought I would today, the day after. Learned that hard lesson of not swallowing air when I drink and fat free vanilla pudding has never taste so good!

So glad everything went well!!!!

My surgery was yesterday, they took such good care of me in surgery & recover and up here in my room! I have been walking a lot & doing great. My mom when she had the surgery in march had a bad time with the gas pains from where the 'blow you up' so I was really expecting that. I haven't had that tho. The worst I had was a horrible pain in my sternum and extreme nausea after waking up. Dr did say he could tell I did perfectly ok my liquid diet, and had lost 15lbs in that 10 days. Now only 100 more to go, ahhhh.... ????
Still at this point haven't had anything but ice chips!

I am felling alttle better, pain is at 2-3 and gas level is at a 10 walking every 5 hours to help...I had my liquid meds again and it does taste better with a little bit of pudding. So that helps. ????

I have found the black cherry in the Sf jello is the only one I like! I would probably just kill for a scrambled egg right now- funny how your brain works. I know most is mind over matter but dang it I'm a little hungry!!! I haven't cheated or strayed once, and that's hard considering I have to cook for my son & pack his lunch. I just wanted to lick the Peanut Butter off the butter knife so bad but I fought the urge. This constant headache too, that stinks!!
But enough of my complaining- day 5 is in the books, I've prayed for the last year for this surgery, I'm not going to let 5 more days stop me!!!
Y'all are right, we've got this!!! Let's keep each other going, esp since it's getting tough on us!! ????????

Im feelig ok jus a little sore but been walking alot

My surgery is scheduled for the 15th. Santa Barbara, CA
I'm glad I only have two days of clear liquids over the weekend. Time is passing quickly and I'm a little nervous, but excited.

I just got my date!!!!!!!! September 22!!!!! I was going to have to wait until October, but as I was leaving they had a cancellation-- it just goes to show that things happen when they are supposed to, and not before. I have been waiting for a year for this to happen! Yay!

I'd love to have a support buddy too!! ???? I'm only on day 2 of my clear liquid diet, I have a 5 year old I still have to cook for when his Dad isn't home... I feel better today than yesterday but I'm scared these Protein Drinks & SF Jello are getting old fast!!!
Anyone have any good Clear Liquids they can share?!

Hi September surgery friends! Is anyone else worried about the statistics for total weight loss after surgery? I'm obsessing, worrying... The stats say average weight loss after one year is 62%! I have 100 lbs to lose so applying that stat to me would mean only 62 lbs. I think I really need a support group to actually go to for help. Anyone else have this concern? Do any of you know of a support group in Orange County, CA?

My Surgery is the 15th! ???? I am on day 2 of my liquid diet!! What an eye opener this is!!! I've been making videos and taking pictures for my own use to look back on, I look at the 15th as the first day of the rest of my life!
My mom had gastric bypass in March and is down 70 lbs, and her BMI is 29 now! She's totally off all of her diabetic, BP, and other Meds and doing awesome, so we really have a lot to look forward to!!! ????

I totally get this one! Many of my friends and family felt like I should be able to lose weight without this surgery, like they think it's a cop out to have surgery, as if it will magically fix all your problems. BUT it's only a tool to help you get healthy. AND it's a bigger commitment than most people realize! I find when I talk to people about all the aspects of the new diet (not eating and drinking together, the Vitamins, the Protein, etc), they realize that it is a big commitment and they respect me for what I'm doing. However, there are still naysayers along the way. One of my closest friends was reading the surgery information binder from my first visit with my surgeon when she came over to borrow a dress earlier in the summer. I said to her, I would be happy to talk about the surgery process, if she was considering it. She said, "Oh no, I'm not big enough to have surgery." Umm did I miss the part where you were borrowing a dress from me? Clearly we are the same size! This friend is trying to lose weight, but not with the surgery, and now that I've had the surgery she is obsessed with asking me how much weight I've lost like it's some sort of competition! I had a long talk with my sister about this friend, and I've decided to spend more time away from this friend. I got the surgery for myself because I want to live a long and healthy life. Healthy body AND healthy mind. I now focus on what I need as surround myself with those who support me as much as possible. A receptionist at my doctor's office told me it was the best gift she ever gave herself. I'm not planning on wasting the gift with naysayers and neither should you!

If I hear from one more uninformed person that these surgeries are the easy way out I will flip on them!!! There is NOTHING EASY ABOUT IT!!
That's why I haven't told anyone but my Mom, Dad, Husband & 1 childhood friend. No one will even know I'm in the hospital. I hate to be so secretive about it but most of my family are so judgmental and jealous that I am just saving myself the drama!!! Good luck with it all!!! ????
