I do understand your gas problem. Ever since I have been banded I burp like a freak. When I eat, when I drink. Every bite or sip results in emmbarrasing belching, not just one but constant and it lasts for 10 minutes. If I am not burping I am passing wind. AHHHHH But the pounds are dropping and I eat or drink only around people who know my gassy issues lol

that sounds really high for a fill.. I was a self pay and surgery was $16,000 and I have lifetimes fills and unfills included. I would look and see who else is a few hour drive away.

I understand not having enough restriction and being frustrated waiting for a fill. Now is the time you need to use what the band has taught you and eat smart and smaller portions. The band doesnt loose your weight you do, the band is a tool but the life style changes is what is key.

I do drink sometimes.. It is now wine instead of beer. Just remember that alcohol will effect you much faster now and the calories in your drinks can be massive. Oh don't try doing shots!!! Hard to make a big swallow and it comes right back up....lol

I can eat when i smoke but the problem is i fall asleep before the munchies hit!!!!!!! being banded I am puff puff pass out......LMAO

I have a friend who's family doc will do her fills. Her surgeon contacted him and told him how to do it...that is another idea you might want to look into

coffee is like a drug for me. I am actually drinking a cup as we speak. My dr didnt have a problem with me drinking it as long as I drink it black. I drink anywhere from 3-5 cups a day.

My Port is about an inch under my belly button. It has turned almost all around now... UGH I am going to the Doctor in 2 weeks to see if it needs to be changed.

I read somewhere that they are doing the surgery at a hospital in Edmonton. Maybe try Capital Health - Home I Read in the newspaper that the wait list is 3-4 years at this time as they are only doing 50 surgeries a year. Maybe that website could help.

Hi Dana, I am in Edmonton also. I had my band done in Toronto and I just fly back there I havent found anyone here yet. What band did you get in Mexico?
-
I have the frenchmidband and the most my Dr will do for a first fill is 5cc. It depends on the Dr mostly. Every clinic is different.

Here is info on the midband,
The MIDBAND is manufactured by the French company in Lyon, Médical Innovation Développement. It was designed with the advice and guidance of Dr. Vincent Frering after his extensive experience with other bands, such as the American Lapband (Inamed)and the Swedish Band (previously Obtech and now Johnson & Johnson).
The MIDBAND provides a very attractive alternative to conventional surgical methods which are more invasive and irreversible, requiring extended hospitalisation.
The MIDBAND is extremely flexible making it easy to fit. It is inextensible, and the unique double closure system ensures a fastening capacity far in excess of the physiological conditions required.
The MIDBAND has no sharp edges or irregularities therby preserving the gastric wall intact, even in event of rubbing. It is opaque to X rays, making it easy to locate and adjust.

What size band do you have? Also have you had any fills?
-
I have the midband and will be in Phoenix over the holidays, does anyone know who does fills for this band. I am from Canada and so far I am having no luck on the research and Dr's who will do a fill on this band. Any help is appreciated...

I flew from Edmonton and had surgery there. He was great!

Why did they only do 2 cc's. I was banded at TLBC and they did 5. I think 5 is the normal fill but not sure.
-
The midband holds 10cc's. I can relate to the feeling you have. Afer my first fill of 5 cc'c i could eat normal. I had no restriciton at all. I even tried bread hoping to get stuck. I got another cc 2 days later. I can still eat a whole plate but some i have to chew or I get stuck, so i have some restriction but not alot.

I have the midband and the port is titanium, it was the wand not the walk thru that set off which cause the uproar....it happened again when i flew home, i didnt say anything ans they just did a pat down. I am thinking the titanium is setting it off.

I am 32 and wish I would have done this years ago.

I am kinda going out of my mind. I had my first fill on Monday and it was 5 cc's in my 10 cc band. So now I am half full and I don't have any restricition at all. I can eat a whole plate of food, i even tried bread hoping I would get stuck and it went down no problem. I know this is not normal but has anyone else had this same thing happen. Any suggestions or advice is appreciated... thanks
