  1. Sorry - messed up on the heading and now I can't fix it!!! - should read - 10 weeks, 14.5kg and a 'stuck' episode..
  2. I can't believe that today marks 10 weeks since my Lap-Band Surgery. The time has just flown by and I am feeling better than ever. This week sees another .5kg loss for me bringing my total weight loss so far to 14.5kg. Again it is another fairly small one but I am okay with it... I have clocked up another year on the calendar of life this week as well (42!!) and although I haven't over-eaten, I haven't counted calories either. I have one more celebration (and my Mum's birthday as well) this weekend and I don't intend to count those calories either. After all, that's what life is all about - we still need to enjoy these times. I also had my first 'stuck' episode last night as well - on chicken - which I had been warned about. It was quite chewy chicken and I know that I didn't chew it properly either. Was a little bit (a lot bit) uncomfortable but I was able to 'remove' it fairly quickly and painlessly and I was able to enjoy the rest of my meal. It is one of those things that was always going to happen at some point but boy did it make me sit up and think and take more notice of the way I eat. I would really like to avoid this happening to me again. Anyway, life's good and I'm feeling great and I look forward to checking in again next week xx
  3. I'm not there yet - still very much in the yellow zone for me. I have no issues with any food whatsoever, have not had any stuck episodes at all. I can still eat a fair portion of food - definitely not just a cup full. Although I am consciously eating less and making better choices. I am quite good with the chewing too and try to make my meal last as long as possible. I do get slight tummy grumblings within about 3-4 hours. I have had 2 fills totaling 3.5ml and I'm not sure what the size of my band is - the surgeon only told me 'small'. It is something I will ask at my next fill. Very envious of those in the green zone as I can not wait to get there - bring on the green!!!!!!
  4. So today marks 9 weeks since my surgery and I've lost a total of 14kg (30lbs for those that don't use metric). This week also marked my first real NSV (Non scale Victory). I made a visit to my hairdresser (who also happens to be one of my besties) and she made the comment to me that when she grabbed at my hair it felt like the back of someone else's head. That might sound weird but she was referring to the fact that the nape of my neck has changed and the 'hump' at the back of my neck has gone!!! great feeling...
  5. Congratulations and good luck. Everyone is here to support you.
  6. @sweetgagr100 I hope for your sake you get one as well. My Doc did tell me that he gave me my fill at that point because it was close to the Christmas break. He definitely made a point of scheduling my second about a month after that. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. Perhaps when you go for your post-op you can ask if there is a location closer to you to get your regular fills. My surgeon only did the first fill and the others are peformed by nurses in his surgery. Good luck..
  7. Yes, I had mine at 2.5 weeks post-op and I've just had my second fill at 8 weeks post-op. I didn't notice a lot of restriction with the first fill and I only have a slight increase after the second. I am scheduled for a third on 12 Feb.
  8. I had fill no. 2 today of .5ml (first fill was 3ml). That was at 3.00pm this afternoon having had lunch at 12.30pm. It's now 7.20pm and I have no desire at all for dinner... First time I've had this feeling and I like it... Lets hope it lasts...
  9. Congratulations on your surgery and weight loss to date. I find this site so incredibly helpful and I hope you do too. Good luck with your journey
  10. Yes, absolutely!!! I had a small gain last week. I too find that I am able to put away a fair amount of food but am making mostly wise choices with the food I do eat - and I'm not bringing anything up or getting anything stuck yet either. I am having my 2nd fill done in about 2 hours and am hoping like hell that I feel a little more restriction. Good luck with it, and it is nice to know that other people go through the same thing and that you are completely NORMAL!!
  11. Thanks for the advice donna450, I am visiting my surgeon tomorrow so will speak with him then. I've been pretty lucky in the pain department, this has really been it apart from the battle wounds at surgery. I also had the thought that I could be drinking (or guzzling) my Water too quickly??
  12. I am beyond thrilled to let you know that I am over that horrid slump of last week and have managed to lose 1.5kg this week - bringing my total weight loss so far to 13.5kg. I really believe that getting back to my usual work routine was a big help. I am heading to the surgeon tomorrow for my 2nd fill which I am so happy about. As mentioned previously, I am able to eat a decent amount of food although I am making pretty wise choices. I've managed to massively reduce the amount of bread that I eat. In my old ways, I could easily polish off 2-4 slices of bread per day without even thinking about it. I really thought that reducing bread would be a difficult thing for me to do, but so far it has been pretty good. I'm eating 1-2 slices per week at the moment and not missing it all that much. I did miss it in my pre-op shake diet phase, but that was very extreme and I had to suddenly give up everything, but since my surgery it has not bothered me anywhere near as much. I hope everyone reading this has had a great week as well and I'll check in again soon. xxx
  13. I had my lap-band done on 27 November 2014 and have had one fill and due for another this Friday. Has anyone ever felt that they have a stitch in their side (on the port side)? Is it connected to the Lap-band or just some random thing that I'm feeling at the moment?
  14. Kellhale33, I had my first fill on 15 December and am scheduled for another next Friday. Not feeling any restriction so I do need it, my weight has remained pretty steady as a result.. I can't wait to reach the green zone. How are you going since your surgery?
  15. Well the bad news is I didn't see a great deal of movement on my scale this week - in fact the only movement I had went up slightly - 300g, Taking me back to 12kg loss total!!! The good news is that I saw my dietician this morning and have been well assured that this is actually normal. I clearly need to have another fill which is scheduled for next Friday. I was really bummed about my weight gain yesterday and thank goodness for some very close friends of mine that are there for me all the way and supporting me because I really needed it yesterday. Today I have a much clearer mind and totally understand that it's a process!!!!! livelovelapband.blogspot.com.au

  17. Can someone please offer me their expertise.. I have added a ticker to my page but it is showing some of the information incorrectly. It shows that I have lost 70kg (would be lovely to be true but it isn't - YET!!) Does anyone know how to fix this???
  18. LeoButterfly25 I found the Fluid phase to be the hardest part of all. Consuming everything in a liquid form is the pits!!! I was able to get in a bit of Protein in the way of smoothies - but there really isn't a great deal more you can do than that.
  19. Fantastic, that's great news for you - well done.
  20. Hi there LeoButterfly25, I had my surgery on 27 November. I weigh myself every day but only record it once a week - it jumps around so much in a 24 hour period that it is just ridiculous. I found my biggest issue in my Fluid phase and part way through my soft food phase though to be bowel movements. (I know it isn't very pleasant to talk about, but hey, we all do it!!!!!). Don't despair over what the scale tells you today, because it can change quicker than you can blink... Good luck with everything, and I look forward to seeing your progress, especially as we are on a very similar timeline xxx
  21. Good morning everyone.. So yesterday marked 6 weeks post-op and I have a loss this week of .5kg. It isn't a lot but it is something. I was a bit miserable to have lost nothing last week over the Christmas and New Years celebrations, but I have now moved passed that and the weight loss has started to come again. I did think it would be a bit more, but I understand that this happens sometimes, and as long as it is heading in the right direction, it will be okay. This brings my total loss now to 12.3kg and I really do feel it - yay for me!!! So have a great week everyone and I'll check in again after my next weigh in next Thursday xx livelovelapband.blogspot.com.au

  24. Happy New Year to everyone!! Just checking in for my week 5 post-op weigh in - This week is a loss of 0.... I had decided to allow myself the week off my blog so that I didn't have to come clean about my 0 loss. I've since realised that that is not the way to be and I need to be completely honest. Admittedly it has been a bit difficult with Christmas and New Year's celebrations, and combined with the fact that I am on holidays from work, eating just tends to be something you do to fill in the time. I definitely do not feel a lot of restriction after my first fill 2 and a half weeks ago, so I am very much looking forward to my 2nd fill on 23 January. I have read a lot about this and it is known as bandster hell... That time between having surgery and hitting the green zone with your Fluid fills - you feel like you can eat as much as you did prior to surgery - looking forward to getting past this phase. I still have another week and a half off work so I need to work on a few things between now and then. Anyway, to have lost 11.8kg in 8 weeks is still pretty good going and will work on shifting that by my weigh in next week. Best wishes to everyone reading this and hope that 2015 brings all good things xxx livelovelapband.blogspot.com.au
