  1. I wouldn't worry too much about it. I am 14 months post op and still not at goal. I have 25 more pounds to go. At this rate, don't see me reaching it anytime soon. If this helps any: We started at the same place and you already weigh 10 pounds less than me at only 10 months. I would say you are doing pretty good so don't worry.

I will go somewhere and sulk now. :(

OH no now i feel bad for whining if it makes you feel better ill be 191 today but 197lbs tomorrow and i always flip flop.

  2. Im 10 months post op and i have 22lbs to go. I honestly dont see me reaching it in a year. It took me one month to loose 2lbs. I lost 40lbs my first week post op and after that the other 20lbs were hard to loose and took longer.

    SW259lbs

    CW191lbs

    GW170lbs

I exercise 3-4 times a week. Not sure what to do. I cut back on my carb intake and lowered my cheese intake (i love cheese) im trying on my Water (i fail on days im off or when im crazy busy at work)

I do (most days) 1 shake a day and get my other Protein through food.

I have 89lbs to loose in total and I watch everyone elses journey and people with same stats and they are closer to goal then me. I know everyones different but im nowhere where i want to be.

I dont need tough love i just need a hug.

  3. Hi, I'm on the depo too, doc switch from the patch, bc of risk of heart attacks, loooved the patch. I had my surgery on 1/29/2013, I lost a total of 105lbs. I was 150lbs when I got pregnant, gained 40lbs, kept going up and down, now at 174lbs. And like you, I noticed not losing weight as before with the depo :(

I can't stop eating sometimes, and others I don't eat enough, but, still doesn't seem like I lose any weight.

Planning on having another baby, (33yrs old), I think I will get the Mirena or the Implant.

Since this post i actually switched to the pill. I hate having to remember to take it but im not always hungry now so im happy with that. I wanted to do the mirena but because ive never had kids my doctor didnt recommend it and she suggested the implant but i think in two years ill be ready to have kids. And dont want to wait to have it removed.

  4. I'm impressed, @Aribay ... I doubted you'd actually track. But you did!

    Respect!

I honestly don't know how people can guess about this stuff and succeed long-term.

Guessing is what got us in this mess in the first place.

hahaha i dodnt think i would either some Snacks im like ah forget it i wont but i did. Its going to get some getting use to but i know if i could do liquid diets and the pureed diet i can regular diet too. I need this gut to go!

  5. Hi Chrissy,

That's an excellent weight loss! I was banded the day after you but done by Dr. Rumbaut. Today I'm celebrating three weeks post op and 20 pounds off. And here you have 6 more pounds off than me! Just goes to show how everyone's journey is different from everyone elses. Congrats to you and keep up the good work!

I know 100% im eating way more then I should be. But I am really excited to try out my fitness pal app! I guess itll take some time to get use to it

  6. Hmmm...

The rest of my post disappeared.

You need more Protein, less snacky food. Where's the meat? The Protein source? Complex carbs?

Laughing cows are delicious with celery or pepper strips. Nuts are good, apples are eh.... cheese is great, eggs, shrimp, Jerky, chicken, hummus, edamame, yogurt (which I hate).

My Snacks are usually shrimp salad, olives, cheese cubes, almonds, reduced fat beef hot dogs, refried black Beans with cheese with red peppers as the dipper. Pickles for salty crunch, ham or crab salad for indulgent spread, artichoke dip or crab dip with veggies. Riceless sushi, crab legs, chicken salad.

Get rid of common carbs for a few weeks. You'll live.

And drink Water. Lots of it.

Sounds amazing! Yeah my protein has been chicken and shrimp. But noone has ever suggested any of the things youve named thanks! And yeah i was trying to follow a nonWLS friends diet that went well for her but i guess not me

    Thanks!

To measure food, start with reading labels. If you are eating anything packaged the serving size/amount is on the label. You can use measuring cups, spoons, and a food scale to measure everything else. Ex. One single-serve container of yogurt just read the label. One serving out of a tub of yogurt you can use a measuring cup or measuring spoons.

An app like MyFitnessPal is great because you can look up all kinds of foods (restaurant meals, name breads, and even homemade foods). You can also add your own if you have your own recipes, etc.

Protein is so critical. Even if you don't focus on other things, at least making sure you count your protein so you get enough will be a big help for you.

My protein goal is 100 grams a day. If I didn't track it in MyFitnessPal, I would never be able to keep up with how much I had and how much I still needed. My memory isn't that good.

Thanka for the post im definitely going to keep track now and hopefully this will be my solution.

  7. Cut the carbs.

    Agreed.

But, also make sure you are getting enough Protein. If you don't measure your food how do you know if you are reaching your Protein goal?

    What does you NUT advise?

Only 40 oz of Water a day is too low. Especially if you are exercising.

I just emailed her and got it returned so im guessing its a wrong email. Also yeah Water is still hard for me to get. Mainly because im always crazy busy at work so water is unfortunately the last thing on my mind. And i have no clue how to even begin on measureing food and such.

  8. Here's what I suggest. First, find an app where you can track your calories. I use My Fitness Pal. At 10 months out, you should be at around 1000 calories a day. With your excerise, maybe a little more. Use the app.

Measure your portions. I know it's a pain, but break out your measuring cups and spoons. Eating til full might be causing you to inadvertently over eat.

Get rid of the bread and crackers for now. You have plenty of time to eat that stuff once you get closer to goal and beyond. Right now you want weight loss, and those may be hindering you. Concentrate on lean protien and veggies (and a little fruit) right now. Eat clean. No processed food, and Snacks should consist of nuts, fruits, or cheese.

Try that for a week or 2 and I'll bet you'll lose weight.

    Repeat.

    :)

Thanks! I know i should be measureing but likw you said its a pain. Also how do I know what i should be eating (measureing wise)i have no clue where to start.

  9. Ugh im so frustrated and getting upset

    What am i doing wrong?

    Actually i probably know what.

    Okay here we go

Im 10 months post op at the end of the month 1 week ago i was 194lbs. Today im 198lbs. I wasn't going to weight myself but i did at the gym scale and i think it was wrong so i weighed myself at my home scale which may be wrong too i dont know but its the one ive been using.

    Anyway

I know it cant be my exercise. I workout 4 times a week. I take bodycombat (a mixed martial arts class) which is a high intense cardio class. And a core training class.

So im pretty set on exercise.

Can it be that i dont measure my food?

I honestly just pack my lunch (a "normal" portion) and i just listen to my stomach to when im full. And i snack in between probably too much

7am i eat half a sandwich (flax and whole wheat bread flats with turkey and cheese)

Around 9 i snack usually wheat thins with a triangle laughing cow cheese

    12 i have lunch usually a salad.

3 i go home and its all down hill sometimes ill snack on smart pop or nuts or apples sometimes a peotein shake.

As im typing this i realized i dint do Protein shakes as much as i should?

Should i still be doing 2-3 shakes a day?

    Any suggestions?

What do you eat thats been helpful?

My schedule is usually the same. I work 7-3 and i go to the gym between 5-7 and i try not to eat past 7.

I have atleast 40oz of Water a day.

    HELP!!!!

  10. I had that side effect on Depo (along with about every other side effect on the list). I didn't gain a ton of weight, but it was a lot harder to control my weight and keep from gaining a ton because of appetite.

I should mention that mine was without WLS (haven't had it yet).

Yeah ive been on the pill for about a month and a half and my appitite/cravings has lowered. And im down 2 lbs (took awhile but ill take it)

  11. Ill be 9 months post op july 30th and ive been having the worst pressure on my upper abdomen. Before i would take pre workout and it would happen so i stopped taking it all together and today i worked out and the pain was awful. Its almost like i have to poop but then i try and nothing. Anyone have any idea or been through this before? Also yes i will be going to my doctor to talk about this to him.

  12. I was cleared by my surgeon at my month pre op. I have had about a drink a week of vodka/water with limes and have not had any issues.

Your month pre op?idk maybe you ment post op but thats crazy!!!!! I was told around 7 to 8 months or later! I didnt have issues but i did feel my stomach kind of burn or sting but other then that i was good. I felt like i handled my alcohol like i would have pre op but not drinking and going out every weekend has saved me a fortune so it was only once and god knows when ill drink again but not anytime soon!

  13. Depending on your size it can easily take your body 1 hour or more per drink to metabolize alcohol to the point where your blood alcohol level is below the legal limit. As a former police officer, every person I arrested for DUI swore they were fine and ALL of them were over the limit on the breath test.

Nothing can help you get alcohol out of your system but time. It doesn't matter if you eat something, drink coffee, or light your farts on fire.

There are many old wive's tales out there about how to sober up. None of them work.

    Live and learn.

In one way or another im glad someone said something because i never knew of this and now i wont learn it the hard way. Thanks for your post!

  14. Thanks, @ for that story.

I sure don't mean to represent that I've never driven "impaired." It's the rare person who gets through life without having done that.

But over time I've certainly learned much--and continue to learn--about how my body responds to every substance I put into it: food, alcohol, OTC meds, Rx meds, all of the above. Certainly our driving is also impaired by too little sleep, too much stress, people distractions, electronic distractions, etc.

It's hard being perfect. But it's not hard to learn and improve. After all, that's what we're all here doing, eh?

Amen! I felt like i was being attacked because obviously everyone is perfect but like you said everyones done it before and we all learn something new. Now i know one hour doesnt seem to be enough time to be sober.

  15. UPDATE I drank 5 bay breezes (which has always been my drink of choice) felt the first 1 a lottle bit but felt it after the second one. I guess i can still handle my alchol because i got to a happy loopy buzz but i remembered everything and felt in control of what i was doing. And sobered up in an hour to perfectly deive myself home.

    Wait WHAT!?!?!

You had five drinks and drove an hour later? :faint:

Yeah i live like 10 minutes from where we were and was perfectly fine. I danced and pee'd it off. And we ate food afterwards so i was fine.
The only way your body can get rid of alcohol is through your liver. Dancing and peeing will not help your body metabolise alcohol. Only time. You were a massive danger to yourself and other road users.

I appreciate the consurn and i know how i felt and i know where your coming from. Thanks.

    Okay then?

  17. My friend that had the surgery last year around this time said what helps her to drink a bit more is eating some peanuts! Or little pieces of bread that will help absorb the alcohol more than your tummy! I'll try this when I'm ready to my first drink :)

Lol peanuts make me ruuuunnnn to the bathroom now but i had a quesadilla before i left so i think that helped a lot. Then we had food afterwards which helped absorb it
