    March Bandsters: MASTER THREAD

Is it possible to subscribe to this thread? I keep looking for a link, but have yet to find one. It would be so much earier if I could subscribe rather than browsing the forums in search of monthly band discussion groups.

    Did I eat too much?

I’m not sure if you’ve eaten too much or not. Your surgeon’s instructions are different from my surgeon’s instructions. After my surgery I was on clear liquids for two weeks and then two weeks of mushies. I didn’t start to feel hungry until after a week of the mushies. Or was it one week of liquids and one week of mushies?... Anyway, from what you wrote, it does sound as if you are full. Try to not eat anything else for a while, and take tiny sips of water throughout the day so that you stay hydrated. Of course I am not a doctor, but that’s my suggestion. It works for me when I have eaten too much – sometimes – when it doesn’t work; there is a serious PB in my near future. Since you were just banded a PB is one of the last things you want to experience. Well, good luck with your doctor’s appointment. I hope that your surgeon will be able to help you through this.

What 1 lb of boby fat looks like

I was just lying here munching on cheetos... Thamks to you and your pictures of 1 and 5 lbs of fat, these cheetos don't taste good at all anymore. Thanks for the visual... I am not trying to gain any of that back. No more cheetos for me - especially in the middle of the night. I just realized that you just got banded! Yea You!!!!! Welcome to the Wonderful World of Bandsters!!!! Good Luck on Your Journey.

    Just before a military ball.

Wow, you're looking great! I love that picture of your eyes - they are pretty and you look nice in your dress for the ball. Continue to be a "loser. :)" Looking forward to your nex set of progress pictures.

Your pictures are pretty. How was your surgery? How have you been doing since being banded? I hope that all is well.

    Pre-op weight 248.9 size 16 back view

Good luck to you!!! I hope that your surgery experience is a smooth one. Mine pretty much was. I wish that I had my surgery when I was still a size sixteen, I'd be one fine sistah by now if I had ... Take care of yourself and let us know how you are progressing. Remember that the band isn't a magic wand, it's a tool that will work as long as you work at it too. Be Blessed.
  9. Hi,

Thank you for the comments you left on my album. Sometimes we can use all the encouragement we can get. Yours is appreciated.

  10. Thank you for your comments about my pictures. Coming from you... that's really a compliment.

Oh and thank you fo the friendship request. I appreciate that.

  11. I read your comments on my pictures and I really had to stop and think about it. I'm looking at myself and I don't know if I was in denial before or if I am just not pleased with my progress. Maybe a little of both. But thank you for helping me to really try to see what others see.

  12. Isn't that the best feeling!!!! I am so amazed everytime I find that something has either gotten too big or that can fit into something that I couldn't before. You are doing fantastically. Keep it up!

    Costs without Insurance??

I have BCBS, I was approved and had surgery. My BMI was higher than yours, but still I’m wondering your surgeon can tell you that you won’t be approved without first having you to the tests. I had to do a six month supervised diet. I did, and I lost maybe twelve pounds – naw I don’t think it was even that much. I’ve read where quite a few bandsters went on those diets and simply didn’t try very hard to be successful. I tried, but hell if I could do an 1800 calorie a day diet on my own, I would not have needed a band. In addition, I had to get a psychological evaluation, cardiologist clearance, pulmonary clearance, and primary care clearance. Your surgeon simply looked at your BMI and weight history and made a decision? Go back to the doctor that diagnosed your back problems. Are you in pain? If so, tell him you are in pain. My orthopeadic surgeon was always telling me I needed to lose weight. If yours is the same, tell him/her to put it in writing. That goes a long way. I hope this helps you. Good Luck.
  16. Well, I finally found you!!! Its been so long, you may not remember me - until we bump into each other again at Dr. Singh's office. How have you been?

    Before band....YUCK!!!

Wow, your transformation is amazing. The commenters are right: you were cute pre-band, but you look amazing now. You look happy and confident. Keep up the great work - pictures like this help us bandsters and pre-bandsters stay the course.

Me my daughter and my mom

    This is a beautiful picture.
  19. Thank you for your comment. I look at those pictures and I'm not really seeing a huge difference, but it's nice to know that somebody else does. I can be my own worst critic. But then I look at Gingerbug's pictures and I KNOW I need to step up my exercising!!! :)

  20. I was looking at your pictures and I had to laugh when I read the caption "Loved my hair but hated my body" or something to that effect. That is so me. I have to say, that I am very proud of my hair. That's just one of the many reasons I chose the band over gastric. Hair loss was not on my agenda.

Anyway... your pictures are great. Your progress is so evident, yet your face still looks healthy and glowing. That was another concern of mine. I did not want my face looking like I had hanging jowls because of loosing weight too rapidly.

Stay on your journey - your progress gives others hope. Much sisterly love to you.

  21. Thank you for the friend request. I, of course, accepted. I have to figure out how to request you as a friend -or is it done automatically? Anyway... I posted some pictures. I have mad work to do, but I'm glad that I posted; otherwise, I would have thought I was doing ok. Well, I am doing ok, I simply need to be doing better.
