heather,
i would go ahead and start it now. the sooner the better. by the time your new insurance kicks in, you should be a month into the supervised diet. hope this helps!
ps.....let usknow how it goes! i had to do a 6 month program as well, and tomorrow is my month 5 appt! almost there!

my band i will be getting doesn't have "wings" but it will be sutured in place. it def helps with slipping, especially because of all the swelling at first. i hope to be banded right after the new year too....good luck!

Hi all. my 6 month supervised wl program ends in january, and im losing steam. i have lost 15 lbs so far...but ive been gaining and losing the last month or two. what do i do? what if 15 lbs isn't enough?? i just don't wanna be denied! aahhh

hi. i have a suggestion for you. i got all my 5 year history from all sorts of docs. everytime i went to urgent care, any doctor. just think of any kind of doctor you have ever gone to in the past 5 years or so. hope this helps.
-
hello. i am not banded yet, but from all my research and reading on this board, it is too soon after your surgery to feel the effects yet. It will subside and you might not feel restriction until after you have had a fill or two. be patient....i cant wait to be in your shoes!

hi all. i've been posting for a few weeks on here now, but not under the AZ posts. i am a 24 years old female who has been overweight for about 24 years now! =) i am going through scottsdale bariatric with dr. balckstone. i am almost done with my 6 month program and am getting very nervous. i know it will be hard post op, but it cant be harder than not being able to fit in clothes, or sleeping with a CPAP, or...........i can go on and on. well, hope to talk to all of you at some point.

I read some posts on here regarding her and her office. i have had no problems. she did my uncle's bypass, and she was very nice. i'm kinda scared now! so far so good. my 4th appt for my 6 month wl program is this week....so i'm almost there! any other opinions on her or her office?

im sure this has been asked a million times, but do you think you will need extra skin taken off after the band? and if so, how often is it covered by insurance? i heard not very often. thanks!

i hate it when i mention my decision to undergo weight loss surgery and people make that face and go "ooooohh". like i said i have some airborne disease or something. why are people so against it? we are njot doing it because we enjoy being fat, its just we need help to get healthy, right! i know thats my reason. im 24 and i don't wanna loive the next 24 huge! gggrrrr.....sorry about the rant. im ok now!
-
hi! i am so glad you are so optimistic about the process. i feel the same way. i have 2 months left of my 6 month mwl program and i should be set. im on the hunt right now for my sleep study report from a few years ago, but then thats it. good luck....i know it will be worth it for us!
-
oh thank you alfie. how has your 6 month wl program been going? i hate that i have to do this to get the surgery....but i know it will be worth it. mine ends in jan. when does yours? any other advice for me?
-
i am on the last 2 months of my 6 month wl program, and i have been yo-yo dieting all through it. gained a little, lost some, and now i've gained it back! does this mean i'm not ready for the band??? do i not deserve the surgery? your input would be great....thanks guys!
-
I called them to verify that the band was covered as well as the bypass, and it is! 100% covered! i am so excited! hopefully they will approve it the first time.
-
Does anyone have any experience with her? she will be my surgeon. I am in her 6 month program right now.....jan i will be done! yea!
-
also, how are you guys coming up with that much money at once??
-
It looks like a lot of you are paying for this out of pocket. My insurance covers weight loss surgery after many hoops to jump through, but it never specified which procedure. Im scared. I am planning on the band as the best choice for me, but I dont know if thats covered. I guess ZI should just call huh?? I dont want it submitted and denied!

I have my 1st support group meeting this week. Im kinda nervous. What do I say?? Ive never been to one of these before. anyone have some experience they can share with me? thanks a million
