  1. has anyone had their clothes altered? Is it worth it or just better to buy new? I have a great pair of work pants and I know Ive dropped a size and dont want to donate them.Of course I still try to wear them despite the fact I look like I am wearing clown pants
  2. I dont think you will have any regrets looking back bc you are doing what you know in your heart is what you want, even if it is sad. Better than staying and resenting him years later. sorry kid
  3. did you get the big packet from your inital nutritionist meeting? We all have the same protocol. That spells out the entire diet. Then you move onto 2 weeks soft Protein (cottage cheese, cream of wheat, yogurt, tunafish etc)
  4. I dont have our hospitals program with me now but I know that they follow Allergans specifications pretty closely. Here is a link to their website Lapband.com - The First Few Weeks After Surgery they say no to the cream soups but thin broth like soups okay. Ive used a sieve like colander with tiny holes to strain foods/soups so I still get the full flavor. You are almost at the end of your two weeks and you must have your post-op soon so talk to her about this.
  5. :w00t: I KNOW how you feel I have REAL hunger too. did you have your post-op yet? you can do this, have you tried to switch things around and try different things like Soups? Its 14 on the liquids and soups and the third week should be mushies, right? (geez you'd think I remember). what about crushed ice in your Protein drinks? Keep drinking Water too
  6. I remember dreaming of grilled chicken on top of salad. Glad to hear you are doing better. I am white knucking it until my 2nd fill on Monday morning. My hunger is back in full force, I have no restriction and havent lost but one pound in 7 weeks. Guess I never had bandster hell with the first band and now I do.
  7. I have to wait until Monday for my second fill. I know what you are going thru bc I had to starting over with a new bigger band and now I feel the hunger like I did before surgery. Its SCARY! I think I fooled myself that I bc I had lost weight that I had self control and wouldnt gain. Guess it true that this is a life long battle not matter what stage you are at
  8. the gas was so so for me. I did have some pain (wasnt expected) and I mostly was nauseous which could have been the pain meds and the gas moving around. I just kept asking and rotating the anti-nausea meds they will give you to find the magic cocktail. good that you are going in early makes the wait better and all the staff are fresh. best wishes
  9. I do wish you luck Heidi, you are in good hands. If you need something dont be afraid to speak up to the nurses and staff. That is what they are there for.
  10. wow Heidi thats so soon but now you dont have to fret for weeks on end. now is the time to kick it up into high gear. you can do it!!!! do you have an appt with her before the 25th for pre-op or are you all set? small confession I had a weight gain, due to TOM and salty foods.... not on the pre-op diet (before that) but she made me come back to show I could lose and I did. congrats!!
  11. last night was the best meeting Ive been to so far. Hope we didnt scare off any of the pre-ops. I know luv2teech7 was a bit shocked by the suprise "guest" in the conference room last night. he he he he Looks like next month a few folks will be missing at the Brigham...maybe switch back to the Faulkner for Oct?
  12. Hi Tova! It was so great to meet and talk to you last night. The time just flew by! Look forward to future meetings and thank you for your support and advice ~Mel
  13. oh thats good info, I would rather stay at B + W since I had my surgery there. any know the criteria for insurance covering reduction?
  14. okay a bit of a change for the month of Sept: luv2teech7 and I are going to hit up the Brigham's support meeting to check it out (and bc I have a fill appt there). I so need a kick in the pants to get back to the gym and to lay off the ice cream. Date: Tuesday Sept 16th, 6:00pm @ Carrie Hall (end of the PIKE) 15 Francis St. Meeting is open to everyone!
  15. you are not a baby. It took me more than a week to even get back to work and even now my chest still hurts at times. I whined to my Dr and she told me that the pain would go away and day by day I feel better. hang in there!
  16. sf pudding mixes added to what ever type of protein drinks have helped me get them down.
  17. I became lactose intolerant after surgery not once but twice (rebanded due to slip)... Dr thinks it could have been from the high dose antibiotics but not sure....both times it resolved itself I used lactaid milk and took lactaid pills and Probiotics for a few weeks....I think getting back on some mushies and re-introducing milk back into my diet helped at about 2-3 weeks post-op
  18. try using a heating pad..it was my lifesaver
  19. yes I have noticed the price differences btw depts. but Ive also noticed that sometimes a Misses 16 wouldnt fit me but a Womens 16 would. :wink2: errrr I thought it would be so much easier to shop when I lost weight but its actually HARDER bc I have to really hunt and fish for my size. Before I always knew where (plus size) I could and couldnt shop.
  20. Hiya Paige- think postive next meeting will be better...esp since I will be there. he he he The next Faulkner meeting is Monday Sept 8th. Can anyone else make it? Finally I am starting to feel like myself. J It took a full 7 days this time around. (Side note for those who don’t know me,was just re-banded (8/05/08) due to a slippage and hiatal hernia. Its like being a newbie all over again.) Still on liquids….grrrrrrr.... but maybe can advance to mushies after my post-op on Monday? ~mel
  21. actually I was probably out of it bc I just came up from the PACU around 4. I think I was in room #38 funny thing is I peaked at the board looking for patients of our Dr hoping to bump into someone. I have my post-op appt on Monday afternoon
  22. could be the shrimp? sometimes causes folks problems bc its texture can be rubbery
  23. she should ask her surgeon about anti nausea medication, she shouldnt be throwing up
  24. so was you and Phyllis again? ha ha ha I had a great excuse this month, but I will try for the next one I wonder how the B+W meetings are? Anyone go to those?
  25. Kerri where you on 15b? I was rebanded tuesday the 7th. you might have seen me on the unit walking around ~Mel
