Vitamin Query
calcium can also cause constipation for those who are prone to it. my Dr said to no to the gummies, I thought it was bc they would get stuck? Now I am not so sure

stomach sleepers
I am a side/stomach sleeper who was on heavy meds in the hospital over night. I was able to sleep normal but the hardest thing was turning too fast. I twisted too fast on post-op day 5 or 6 and it hurt like crazy. Other than that Ive been fine and was more comfortable than when I had gyn surgery

anyone bought a medic-alert bracelet?
why the need? if you are injured in an accident I would think they would x-ray and see the band and they wouldn’t just put a tube into your stomach without first doing a full workup<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Help- major hair loss
its not just WLS patients who lose their hair. close friend of my was seriously ill and hospitalized for two weeks. at around 4 months her hair started to fall out and got remarkedly thin. she was told different things by different specialists but I think it was due to poor nutrition while she was so ill ? by the time it falls out isnt already too late?

Any problems taking Medications??
I understand and dont blame you...they basicly told my mom that although her breast cancer was not caused by HRT that it did advance it. Then a few years later is when they came out with the relationship bte the incr in bc and HRT. I have to be on bc to treat my pms, endo and premature ovarian failure. :scared: ? another question?: do you have to crush everything or can we take tablets and soft gel pills?

Lactose intolerant? What to drink?
if you can find it they do make a Slimfast lactose free, its called easy to digest. Or what I did was mix CIB with lactate milk and add in some sf instant pudding mix to jazz up it up soy milk is another option a couple weeks after my surgery I was able to move back to regular fat-free milk. thank goodness

I Quit Smoking And Now I'm Struggling
I quit 5 months before my surgery, been a smoker for more years than I want to admit. I wanted to make sure I could do it before I had surgery. It has to be the BEST thing I have ever done for myself!!! Even more than the band. I have slipped up here and there...only having a puff or one but that is it. I refused to buy them or keep them on my person. Hang in there and stay strong you will feel better :bounce:

Any problems taking Medications??
? my mom had bc and has since passed they said I am not at risk but it was estrogen feed by HRT. I have since been put on birth control pills, is this an option for you? I have the liquid Tylenol, its okay but I seem to go thru it faster than pills.

So Disappointed In Myself...
Lizzie I just wanted to say thank you for sharing, I am in that post surgery pre-fill phase and just had a small gain. One that I had me doubting myself and falling back into self defeating bad habits. Your post and the replies have changed my outlook :bounce:

Not Enough, Really?
this is just the thread I was looking for. I joined a gym pre-surg and have been going 3-4 x a week, once there I cant get beyond 30 mins on the treadmill, or bike or elliptical. I am only a few weeks post-op and would like to move beyond just 30mins. I use an ipod and there are flat screens. But I just hate to do more than 25-30 mins its like I cant wait to get out of there. Should I work try to increase my intensity or try to work out longer?

Has anyone ever advanced post op food phase ealier than you were supposed to?

Has anyone ever advanced post op food phase ealier than you were supposed to?
please forgive me and as I am a noob. I know that eating solid food bf your doctor recommended is a no-no. I was under the impression from my doctor that this was bc you could vomit and therefore cause a slip. I did not know that basic digestion of solid food could also cause the band to slip. I do understand that the stomach has to heal but I have never heard of this ridge thing before. Can someone clarify and perhaps include some references I can read?
