  1. I didnt meet him persay but saw him in the ATR area (treatment rooms) when I was having my port re-done. But he and Dr Vernon were laughing bc they were both there at the same time, which I guess never happens Anyhoo I went with Dr Vernon for a few reasons one being that I knew how popular and busy Lautz was, shes a great surgeon (check they all are) and well bc she's a she's. Still learning the band. I have pain when I eat too big of a bite or too fast...at least that what I think. but can eat more than 1 cup at a time. Other times I feel tighening at the back of my throat when I eat. Still slowing loosing.
  2. I am on my second Bullet. On my first the motor went so I purchased a regular blender for $19.99 at Sears. It worked fine but I couldnt stand trying to get it clean. So I bought another bullet. Its fine for making shakes
  3. Hi Cindy have you ever gone to the Faulkner for an appt? Does Dr Lautz do appts over there? I have my second fill there w/ Dr Vernon on Feb 8th..I heard it was less hectic over there. I am for the very first time hungry since my surgery 11/13.Hope this fill helps that. ~Mel
  4. I think this happened to me. I had my first fill on 1/08, TOM came a few days later and I was having trouble with solids. Now that its going away I am for the first time since surgery (11/13/07) hungry. Not sure if the restriction wore off OR if it was TOM. ???
  5. I am like you...only had one fill but I do have some restriction. yes I can eat more than a cup but not much more and some foods are a no-no. Do I go for greater restriction?
  6. thanks for the cnn link Patti! I must saw you look 'wicked awesome'! congrats!
  7. I developed an infection after they repositioned my port...you should call your Dr right away
  8. very interesting thanks for posting this. It must really depend on what your body can handle? My dietition gave me a lists and said to include 2-3 servings of veggies and long with the required Protein....there is no way I can do that now. As a matter of fact I PB'd most of my main meals all weekend, and I think its due to my TOM (??). But I am drinking fluids fine and still have weight loss.
  9. Hi Vicky I was banded at the Brigham on 11-13. I think you have a choice btw three surgeons. All are exceptionally skilled and the nursing on 10 was awesome!
  10. I was under the impression that your body can not process more than 30g of Protein at a time unless you are an athlete??? I find I can hit the 60g mark and keep my calories btw 800-1100 but I dont seem to be getting in 2-3 servings of veggies and fruit. does anyone else have this issue?
  11. try using 1/2 a scoop of unjury, its all I can tolerate then I mask it in my shakes with Peanut Butter as long as its icey cold Slimfast Low-Carb is decent
  12. I will be sure to watch esp since we are pratically neighbors! Im a south shore gal too!
  13. good question. I too want to know, do I stop when I get the discomfort or con't? What if I dont have all my Protein in for the day?? is the discomfort actually restriction?
  14. I didnt understand why the Gas-X for surgery gas but my heating pad was a gawd send for helping me with pain. best thing I did was get my post op pain meds script BEFORE surgery as they had to order it and with a holiday it took three days
  15. I never knew that you could get an infection so long after surgery. I too think my infection isnt from the port but from the revision and in that area. you've been thru a lot, I wish you the best!
  16. I posted in the Complications section...I just started Kelfex and the redness is going away. More concerned about erosion etc down in the future
  17. how long ago was your infection? there must be others who've recovered from this
  18. I was banded on 11/13 and at my first fill found out that my port was flipped so I had my port re-positioned 2 days ago under a local. Now its red and possibly infected. Call Drs office and they are putting me on Kelfex. I am very concerned about what this means down the line, will I be at rist for an erosion? had anyone with an infected port have it healed with no further problem? Am I over reacting?
  19. just had my first fill yesterday and I overheard my Dr talking of air bubbles with the resident. Guess it is common after placement
  20. Thanks for all the replies.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> I had my procedure done a couple of hours ago. It wasn’t completely horrible and I am glad she did it with a local as I am already back at work. No pain as of yet bc I am still numb. She told me my port had flipped backwards and it was a first for her. Lots of tugged and weird sensations and some pain from the needle but it was tolerable<o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> Glad I had to taken care of fast bc she was also able to give me my first fill at the same time.<o:p></o:p>
  21. I just posted under complications that my port flipped. Tomorrow I am going to have it repositioned but its going to be done under local. Anyone have experience with having it done under a local? Dr also said she could fill me then...which I am SO ready for (1st fill)
  22. I dont know how to edit my posts but it should say I am having a local NOT general. I hope it stays put this time
  23. found out my port is flipped after Dr was trying to give me my first fill. Going back tomorrow to have it restiched under general. just how painful is it? hope this doesnt lead to future problems
  24. just found out my port is flipped after Dr tried to give me my first fill. Will go back tomorrow under general. I believe they are just going to restich it back into place and I can walk out of the hospital (???). I just hope this doesnt lead to future problems
