Inconsistent Tightness?

As a banded man, I can definitely tell you that it is NOT just the girls that experience this. I was banded on 10-15-07. I currently have ~9 cc in a 10 cc band. I am in "the zone", and have lost 105 lbs to date. Even so, some days, I feel like I can eat a lot more than normal for this fill level, and other days, I am extremely tight, and PB on just about anything other than soup.
  2. Hi guys. I haven't posted much here, as I am newly banded (10-15-07) I saw the couch to 5k posts, and decided that I would give it a shot. The plan is actually very similar to what I did on my own 7 years ago when I lost 60 pounds on my own (one of my yo-yo's!!) Anyway, I started the couch to 5k plan last week. I went out and bought a new pair on nike running shoes, and started week 1. I made it through the first 3 days, and then began having pain my left heel. It progressively got worse, until today, when I couldn't even walk down the street without limping. I went into my GP, and found out that I had developed retrocalcaneal bursitis. According to my GP, it was a combination of "too much, too soon" on the treadmill + the new nike shoes that caused it. Long story short; I am off the couch to 5k plan for at least the next 1-2 weeks. I probably will start something different, like an elliptical or something more low impact. I also have knee problems, so I guess I'll never be able to complete the couch to 5k plan. Just thought I'd let you know that there can be complications with the couch to 5k plan for those of us that have not exercised in a while; and not to start with brand new "el cheapo" nike tennis shoes. BTW: my orthopedic surgeon recommends Merrills or New Balance shoes for better fit and support. Just an FYI...

    Never heard this!!!???

I'll be the voice of dissent here... I DID have a urinary catheter. It is my doc's SOP. All patients get cathed. I expressed my displeasure with that SOP, and was told that the cath was done after the patient was anesthetized, and was removed prior to waking up. While true that it was placed after I went to sleep; it wasn't removed until I was in recovery. They said that they "forgot" to remove it before I woke up. Honestly, even in recovery, I barely remember them removing it.
  4.
I was banded 8 days ago. I had that pain up until 5-6 days after surgery. My coordinator attributes it to 1. the normal feeling of restriction and 2. post op swelling of the esophagus.

Anyway, I still feel it a bit, but not nearly like I did on days 2-6.

    Anyone had Lapband in NC??

Hi there. I just registered for this site today. I saw your post, and wanted to reply to it. I had my lap band surgery on Monday, 10-15-07. My surgeon is Dr. Gary Robinson in Statesville, NC. The ENTIRE process has been excellent. I started the process in August with the seminars. In September, I had my pre-op evals. The total cost for all evals (psych, nutrition, and surgical) was $610. I self paid for my surgery, because my insurance would not pay for it. I would HIGHLY recommend that you talk to Dr. Robinson's lap band coordinator if you are considering the surgery. If you would like their contact info, let me know. Good Luck!
