Krazyklaws got a reaction from choff999 in Lower-end BMI Sleeve Surgery. Any others?
I had a BMI of 32 when I had my surgery 13 weeks ago. I'm now down 35lbs and losing around a pound a week. I'm struggling to exercise, my energy levels are still zero, but on the weeks I do manage it I lose a little more. The gnawing hunger I felt each and every day has gone, and I feel as if I have my life back.
I do still struggle to eat enough in social situations to avoid questions, especially with the family. My work colleagues are used to me being on one diet or another so just accept it! Only my partner and four close friends know what I've had done.

I had a few glasses at about the 8 week stage. No problems with it, but it just doesn't taste like it used to. Even the smoothest wines taste acidic and chemical to me now. Reds are probably the worst.
    Anyone else find that?

Krazyklaws got a reaction from lildawtee in What do you order when you go out to eat with your family?
I eat out with colleagues quite a lot, and try not to make a big deal of it, but it's so hard. I always try to order a starter or some sort of small salad but usually have to explain to the waiter that there was nothing wrong with it when I can't finish!
It's interesting that most of you say that your NUTs tell you to stay off carbs. My dietician ( I'm in the UK) tells me to eat more carbs. He says I should have a third Protein, third carbs and third veggies. I do struggle with bread, but toast seems ok.

Krazyklaws got a reaction from Rovobay in secret surgery: what else can you tell someone if they ask?
I only told my partner and two of my closest friends about my op. I didn't tell my work what I was having done, just referred to a 'minor op' and was vague. Now that it's done, I've told everyone that it was a hiatal hernia repair. It's not a complete lie, as I did end up having quite a major one as part of my surgery. Symptoms all fit, including the dodgy eating - a full third of my stomach was in my chest cavity so it's expected that I'd struggle to eat properly for awhile. Plus, if you ever need one in future, it could happen twice.
It would be really embarrassing to have your gall bladder or appendix out again!!!
    Good luck with everything x

God I miss my rice !
I had sashimi for dinner tonite and I forgot to tell him to hold the pint of rice.
Well there it is the first rice since 6/24 sleeve. Oh wow. I had the sashimi
Bliss is defined as 4 ounces of tuna or salmon. Raw. Just a touch of soy.
And then there is the rice. So do I have room ? No
Am I gonna make some and be uncomfortable. Um nooooo right?
And so I had exactly 3 grains
Didn't taste right. Let me see if I am wrong. 7 more grains.
Oh boy where am I going ? What am I doing? I must stop. I must. 10 more grains on the chopstick!
Ach. I will stop! I know!
    Wasabi is my friend!
Lots and lots and lots of wasabi met rice today. And got mixed and mixed and mixed.
    The rice is now green
Well see I told you it tasted funny
    And now it's downright unedible.
Head hunger controlled and back In the damn box
    Rose 1, rice .5, brain 0!!!

Krazyklaws got a reaction from Rovobay in Worst pain ever. SNEEZED 6 days out.
I got hiccups on day 4. I literally cried like a baby. Made the hiccups worse and the sobbing hurt nearly as much!
Luckily, I didn't sneeze until about day 8 and it was ok by then, but I feel your pain! x

Thank you all for your replies. So I'm sleeved! Not feeling too bad considering. The surgeon discovered that I had a massive hiatus hernia which he also had to fix so I got 2 surgeries for the price of one! He said that my recovery may be slower because of it, but 24 hours later I'm doing ok.
So, now the hard work really starts xx

I still have two weeks to go before surgery but I think keeping a positive attitude makes a lot of difference in any recovery! So I say, relax, go in with a big smile, be very proud of yourself for taking this step, and focus on your great days ahead! Prayers for a swift recovery for you!

OK, so tomorrow's the big day and I go in for my surgery. I'm a little bit terrified, but excited and looking forward to the results.
These forums have been a wealth of advice for me. Does anyone have any last minute pearls of wisdom for me before I go?

We have roughly the same stats and being both excited and terrified are the right emotions. Just know that your life is going to change for the better-- you will essentially give birth to a new you!

i have two that work for me very well.
    1. talk it out with my boyfriend, who is willing to listen to me for hours talk about how much i NEED to have some ice cream or a turkey club sandwich, but won't have one because i don't want to derail my journey, but i NEED it, but i won't, maybe i will, would you have some with me, will you share it, no i CAN'T have it, i WANT it.... you get the picture. he is a saint.
    2. go to sleep early.
i'm not very good at transfering the comfort received from food to anything else yet except interacting with my boyfriend. i am hoping to pick up crafts again... that always helped me when i was dieting in the past, keeping my hands busy. i am also hoping to regain my gym rat status and transfer to working out, after i lose enough weight to allow me to walk more than 5 minutes.
