    Struggling through Pre-Op diet

I did. I lost no weight before my surgery, I gained! I moved my surgery date up and there were no complications. Just do the best you can to avoid fats. The pre op is to lower the fat around your liver so that the dr can get to your stomach easier. Don't sweat it. Now that I am post op just over a week, it's a mental game. Certainly not physical. You WILL have to follow your duet afterwards or you'll injure yourself. The surgery is a tool. Use it wisely!!! It's the hardest thing I had to get through so far physically and now I did it there's no turning back. Happily I am 14 lbs lighter. Good luck!!!
  2. when will the diahrrea stop? I did find out that I am lactose-intolerant after the surgery. I have switched over to Lactaid and avoid all dairy. Lastly, I am not getting in three Protein drinks. This is bc I am full or want more bad side-effects. Has anyone tried protein supplement pills? Do they work? Is there a difference between men & women's pills? Where do I get them?
  3. Hello, I had surgery one week ago today. I am thrilled that I am down just about 12lbs. I am thrilled that I am moving on to pureed foods. I am happy that I am changing for the better. I am new to this forum. I am unable with the Gastric sleeve forum, it is too cluttered! Can I share some frustrations/concerns? I have become lactose-intolerant after the surgery and am dealing with the awful side-effects of that. I am moody bc I feel hungry (mentally) and miss my 'bad' foods. I am not walking as much as I should be ( haven't joined the gym yet and it is HOT out) but I am still walking at least once a day. recipes for pureed stage? Please share ideas, similar issues, words of encouragement, or anything please! Unless you went through this, people just don't understand. I have been surrounded by nothing but LOVE & SUPPORT so I am lucky and grateful. Thanks

Good advice so far, thank you. the doctor told me I was lactose-intolerant. I always thought I might be because of the horrible IBS I had before surgery. You are correct jimmyjames, the diarrhea is awful!!! I didn't want to say it being a newbie but it makes me scared to leave the house; Including my walking in the neighborhood. I am glad that I am not the only who is/has gone through this. Eventually I am glad it will stop (hoping & praying). You are also cct that doctor said the lactose-intolerance may reverse itself down the line. I am using the Lactaid milk for all of my Protein shakes. Jimmyjames-about what time did the diarrhea stop for you?

    Out 7 Days & Pissed

Wow, I would go to your local ER and have them remove the drain. Someone should be emptying it for you (at least). Wht would it be there so lo if you had no complications? GET IT OUT & don't do it yourself!!! You could internally bleed. Good luck!

Hi! I had a surgery date of 8/1 as well. I was hoping to touch base with others who have/are going through what I am. Are there any major obstacles? Frustrations? I am thrilled I am down just about 12lbs. I am unhappy a tad nit (Not much) because I do mentally miss my 'bad' foods. I have become lactose-intolerant and struggling a tad bit with the awful side-effects of that. Need to get more walks in... Any advice? Similar circumstances? Even if not, encouraging words would be great!!! Thanks!!!
