  1. I get waves of pressure that makes me feel like I can't or drink anything. It also only lasts a few seconds and starts when I put something in my mouth. I told my Dr about it since I've been experiencing this since day post op, I'm now day 11. He says it could be gas or your body making adjustments to the new stomach.
  2. Am I the only one having cramping pains when I try to drink liquids? I'm 1 and a half weeks post op and this marks the third time I've needed to be hospitalized over dehydration because it hurts to drink. Help!
  3. I'm may 26th in San Antonio!
  4. Hi everyone! I'm set to be sleeved on may 26th :-). I am super nervous and excited all at the same time.
  5. After a year of exploring this option, I'm finally scheduled to be sleeved in 2 weeks!! I'm a little nervous about the surgery itself as far as being put to sleep and the hospital stay but I'm more excited than anything to start seeing results . My highest weight was 256. Found out I am diabetic and was placed on some meds. I'm currently down to 249. I start my pre op diet on the 18th and really interested in seeing how much weight I lose that week. I'm an African American woman and curious about hair loss and loose skin as I know this is different for all of us? Also , I'm very interested in maybe finding a buddy who's having surgery the same day?? Thanks :-)

    Finally

I have been struggling with my weight for years and only recently decided to explore surgery. The Dr's office I was referred to kept telling me my insurance required 5 years of weight history. I felt defeated because I don't have that. But something told me to keep pushing and doing my research. Come to find out, I don't even need weight history! So hopefully I'll be able to have my surgery at beginning of May. I'm very nervous, excited and anxious. Here we go!!!

According to the insurance woman, uhc requires that under my employer which is jpmc.

Thank you everyone for you response. I may just be over thinking it at this point. I feel "desperate" and just trying to do too much.
  10. So someone told me if I can not meet the requirements for wls because I can not provide proof of 5 year weight history, that I can switch to another insurance during open enrollment who does not require this and continue the process. I. E. Signing up for insurance directly through the carrier instead of through my employer. Does this make sense? Can I do that? I'm trying to keep my options open.
  11. I know everyone's situation is different but this is so stressful. Is there anything I should do to be proactive?
  12. So I just started my surgery journey today. I went in to speak with the surgeon and insurance lady. My insurance, uhc choice plus, is requesting 5 years of weight history. I'm confronted with 2 problems. First off I never used to go to the Dr because I was always embarrassed to get weighed. Second, I was definitely over weight the last 5 years but my bmi was not 35 or more until recently. Has anyone experienced this and still been approved? I felt so discouraged at this point in my appointment. If I'm denied because of that, can anything be done in an appeal? Help!
  13. Hello everyone!! I just recently started my weight loss surgery journey. I actually have an appointment tomorrow with the surgeon to find out how this will all work. I've been doing a lot of research online but I find it better to see what people have to say who've actually gone through the process. I currently have a BMI of 40.3 and my insurance is through United Health Care Choice Plus in Texas. I'm curious as to how quickly they could possible approve me. I'm very nervous about this but very hopeful.
