You just go. I'm 100 pounds more than you are right now and I just pay attention to me and me only. Luckily my gym is ladies only so I feel people are there to work out and not be seen by the opposite sex, but you have to believe that they're paying more attention to themselves (as they should!) than they are to you.
Do it because in the long term, to be successful, we need to incorporate exercise into our lives. Do it because you value YOU more than what they think of you because truthfully, they probably won't think much about you either way

hey everyone, i saw the surgeon today and he says i am doing AWESOME!!! when i asked about working out, he said "join a gym tomorrow".
there is a great gym in my town, about 4 miles from my house. they even have child care for my little one and classes for my tween to try, including a pool and swim lessons!
i really like it there and took a tour of it last year when i was considering joining then. but.........
this gym seems really full of REALLY thin and fit people. i'm still a VERY big person. i have issues about being around people socially simply due to my weight. i just feel like in public, everyone is noticing my weight. at a gym, well i think it would be worse. they open at like 4am so i have even thought of going there at 5 and working out when, hopefully, the attendance is minimal...
HOW do i get over being a fat lady a a skinny gym?

That is a problem you will have even when you reach your goal. you will not see yourself for who you really are for sometime. That is the nature of the beast!
Surprisingly though the people at the gym are not looking at you. Most of them are busy trying to get in shape or stay in shape. Most people are not looking around. And if they do, most of them applaud you for coming.
35 lbs down nothing to sneeze at I would say..Hold your chin up. Get your bag together and get there and work it girl! You deserve to be healthy. just like anyone of those people at that gym. Who knows you might inspire others as they see you working out because you are doing this and making changes for yourself no one else!!!!
35 lbs of butter on the kitchen table is a remarkable accomplishment......Go, do it and think about the fact that you are 35 lbs smaller then you were when you started this journey! Kick ass!

    you are much cuter
    happy surgiversary!!!!!
if i had known, i would have "baked" you one of my special plain FAGE 0% yogurt
    mixed with fresh blueberries
topped off with granola - yum yum!!!! ( I have once a day!!)
    I'm 2.5 yrs PO
i DO remember/think of my "old" life on an occasion
you name anything in "reason" i can now do it
but............i still can't play the piano or juggle
but of course, you guessed it - wait for it
i never could do them pre-op either!!
i never kept any of my old gigantic clothes (wish i had saved a few)
A few months ago i went to Kohl's
I purchased the same ol' terrible 2X elastic waist jeans that i always wore pre-op
i knew exactly where they were in the plus section
they are now hanging in the back of my closet
just as a reminder of what my world was pre-op
    size 22/24 before WLS
    now size 6
was 235 - now 130 and standing (very tall)!
You can't possibly know how wonderful, healthy, happy i am now
    Oh............wait a minute!!!
You know EXACTLY how i feel!!!!
"sometimes" my husband might hang up his own shirt
periodically he'll say something like, "where have all the hangers gone??"
then he'll say - "oh, you've been shopping again!!!"
    he laughs with me!!!
i can see you look wonderful
    so do i!!!!
remember - i am cute as a button
    well, not really!!!!
    then again LOL
    Life is Great !!!!
you/me/we all deserve only the best!!!!!
continued health, happiness for the rest of your longer life

It has been one year since we all have been sleeved give or take a few weeks, wondering how everyone is doing? This surgery has changed my life. Down from 246-250 range to 123-126. It has opened new doors, some good, some bad. Anyone have a shopping fetish for small new clothes, like me? I love my sleeve.

The other thing that would worry me (like you don't already have enough on your mind) is that if you can't get an appointment to see him pre-surgery will you be able to get an appointment post-surgery if you have problems?
I hope you get everything sorted out so that you are confident in your decision. Good luck! I wish you the best.

You can spend your time looking up recipes for after your surgery, catch up on your picture albums if you have those, and I have been spending some time on Pinterest picking out all the cute clothes that I am going to wear when I get to my goal weight
Good luck on your journey and I hope you find something to do to help pass the time.

Hello everyone!! I just recently started my weight loss surgery journey. I actually have an appointment tomorrow with the surgeon to find out how this will all work. I've been doing a lot of research online but I find it better to see what people have to say who've actually gone through the process. I currently have a BMI of 40.3 and my insurance is through United Health Care Choice Plus in Texas. I'm curious as to how quickly they could possible approve me. I'm very nervous about this but very hopeful.

Hello everyone, I am new to this site but soooo glad I found it. I will be having my surgery 8/19/2014 and would like to know from all of you what you think I will need to take with me for post surgery. I have heard from some people that Gas X strips work wonders...a pillow for comfort etc....any other suggestions?

Today I officially got my insurance approval! My tentative surgery date is Aug 25. I'm 28 years old and weigh about 240 currently. I have sleep apnea and high cholesterol.
I'm really excited and terrified all at once. I'm excited to finally get a grip on my weight. I've tried several times on my own. I am able to lose weight but just can not keep it off ( and it beings friends ) I'm hoping this will help.
I'm so scared from basic nervousness about surgery.
I have a beautiful 4 year old daughter who is autistic. She is my main motivation. Right now I have a hard time being active with her. She deserves the best from me. This is benefit is so much.
    Here's to a new me

One of my friends who was sleeved 4 months before me said about 4 weeks after her surgery, "I HATE the feeling my feelings part. And there is nothing I can eat, no glass of wine to pour…I'm a raging bitch."
It does get better, especially after you start exercising again.

    skylarkx,
I hope you are more comfortable soon.
But those feelings -- we just need to feel our feelings. And, if possible, change our feelings by doing things that are healthy for us -- not the old same ways we've always responded to those feelings.
I'm going through a "what are my compulsions?" internal dialogue right now. Am sort of surprised, actually to find out that what I thought were healthy behaviors (like working a lot) aren't all as health-provoking as I once thought.
    Interesting trip we're on, eh?
