Just got my date today October 14th
-
Met with my surgeon today I was surprised that she did not push for the RNY she told me that I was a perfect candidate for either surgery. My stats are 40 yr old female, 245lbs, 5ft 5, type 2 diabetes on insulin, PCOS, IBS, back and hip pain. Because of the diabetes this is why I thought the RNY was good for me, however after her explaining the complications to my husband and I I think we felt more comfortable with the less invasive Sleeve. I know my husband was at ease with that decision he was a little nervous about me having my insides rearranged. I am just hoping I made the right decision I am scheduled for October 14th. She asked me what do I want out of this surgery and that is how to determine which is best for me, I told her I just want to be healthy I don't care if I ever weigh 120lbs I just want to live a better quality of life.... Anyone else have diabetes and similar stats to me have success with the sleeve ?? Am I making the right choice...

I am going to Boston. I am so happy to hear that your appointment went well.. I have neighborhood health for insurance I was told they are pretty easy also. I will post an update tomorrow. What pre-op appointments are they having you do? My PCP had me go for a breathing test already and I have a echocardiogram of 9/13. She wanted to get the ball rolling. Just curious what other tests will be needed. Thank you

This may be a dumb question but I am terrified of sagging skin and yet I do not want to have another surgery once I have my RNY... Is there anyone one out there who was able to tone with excercise alone? I already have bat wings. I am top heavy now and have a belly no children just a belly. Helppppppp

I also met with Dr Butsch he referred me to the surgeon Dr. Gee I am meeting with her this Thursday I am excited and nervous. Hope to have a date at that point I also met with the nutritionist and psych. Are you having he sleeve or RNY? So far I am pleased with MGH What insurance do you have. It's interesting that you already have your date and haven't even met the surgeon. I am so anxious and nervous. It's nice to have someone going to the same place.

Going thru the MGH weight center would love to hear your stories

Oh lol. I already hate my bat wings and I haven't even had the surgery yet. I am doomed. That is my biggest scare is that I will never get them tone. That and my belly of course.

I am meeting with the surgeon for the first time on 8/28 to discuss the next steps for WLS she will discuss both sleeve and RNY however because I am a type 2 diabetic I believe I am leaning toward the RNY. I have been starting a list of questions that I would like to ask just hoping you guys can help me out here and let me know what questions I should be asking. Just a background one me I am 40 years old 5'5 249lbs. BMI 40. I have type 2 diabetes, PCOS, under active thyroid, IBS, heartburn, chronic pain in back, hips, shoulders, knees awe hell everywhere lol.
I have been hooked on this forum since I found it.. It is so helpful I love reading all of your success stories and I cannot to share mine.. I know it is a long road and a lot of work but I am so excited to start... ????

I am just starting the process of surgery meeting with surgeon 8/28 one of my concerns is excess skin I already have wings so if I lose weight Ivan only imagine how bad they will be. I'm very concerned that I may need plastic surgery and really want to avoid that as much as possible just wondering if anyone had any luck with working out alone to keep the skin from hanging. Need to drop about 70-80lbs

Hi everyone just reading some of these threads and it's a great deal of help. I decided today at my weight center appointment that I am ready for surgery. Meeting with the surgeon on 8/28 to go over both options RNY and Sleeve. Not sure which is best for me .
I have diabetes on insulin
PCOS
Fatty Liver
IBS
Body aches and pains
5'5. 249lbs
My quality of life is horrible I'm only 40 and I'm so sick of living like this... Hubby is a little nervous about this but will support my decision. Any info or advice is welcomed. Thank you all. ????
