  1. So sad!! I am not a football fan, but that article mad me cry! God Bless his family, friends and everyone who loved him!
  2. Oh honey you are NOT a failure. You are a beautiful human being that is going through a new life journey. We ALL slip, and if someone says they don't they are a liar. We all got this way because WE LOVE FOOD. I know personally EVERY family/friend function I have ever been to centered around food. To me food is like liquor to an alcoholic or a drug to a drug user. Food is everywhere...it is so hard to "Just say NO!" You will get through this stage and you will be a success story! I am in the same boat...the liquid stage is killing me, but I keep telling myself it is all SO worth it. DH and I want a baby so bad...this is one step closer! Stick to the liquids and do the best you can. YOU CAN DO IT....DONT let anyone tell you cant!
  3. My surgeon told me when they placed my band they found a leak in it. (I am not sure how they knew this, but glad they discovered this.) So they removed the first band and replaced it with a second band. I wont have a first fill for about 5 weeks. I was just banded...then rebanded July 29th.
  4. My Oprah manages more Yahoos! VPLQG
  5. I am 33 happily married to my soulmate! We want children....but none thus far! I work full time as a Direct Support Professional for developmentally disabled adults, (www.maatc.com). Arts and crafts are okay, but I don't have the patience for them, I do like to draw...pretty good at Garfield and scenery. Ethan is our baby a 51lb Basset Hound! I have never been outside the USA! (I guess too much for me to do right here in the good old USA!)
  6. Nerd summer or fall?
  7. I came up with a great idea for an easy exercise program. That about anyone can do. While watching tv. When the commercials come on get off the couch and walk back and forth through your house. It doesn't have to be fast....just walk. I have a problem watching the commercials...all the junkfood, fast food and food period....makes me think I need it...so if I am up moving during those commercials I don't see them and still enjoy my programs. Plus the added benefit of exercise. Of course 30mins of regular exercise a day is good too!
  8. I did the Optifast protein shakes, bars and their chicken broth. They weren't bad but I got tired of not being able to eat. (I knew I wouldn't be able to eat "normal" food till several weeks after surgery.) I ate some lettuce, baby carrots, plain tuna, chicken, yogurt, and a few other healthy low carb foods. I lost 12 lbs prior to surgery, but my liver did not shrink. I was still able to have my surgery and all went well. My surgeon was not to concerned about the liver size. I did not get scolded by the dietician for "cheating" the system, but please check with your surgeon and dietician before eating anything.
  9. roses pictures of family or videos of family?
  10. I like Ebay. At my heavyiest weight I had a hard time finding clothes to fit me without driving almost 70 miles one way. Local merchants only carry up to a 26/28 and I couldnt fit in them. The Avenue has nice stuff too, but they are kind of pricey. www.jms.com and www.roamans.com also have nice stuff.
  11. I use Optisource Multivitamins. They are chewable & orange flavored.(Available at Walgreens)They are specially formulated for people who have had weightloss surgery. I also take a chewable Vitamin C daily per my surgeon. As for protein I have been doing the protein shakes. Try different brands. There is also bulk protein you can mix in with your juices and other liquids. I hope that helps. Bets of luck with your surgery!

  21. I am feeling alot better today. My gas has started and I just let her rip! I spent the night in the recliner and slept most of the night, got up once to use the bathroom and take some pain medication. Still not hungry but am doing the full liquid diet. Last night I had cream of chicken soup strained, sugar free jello, and apple juice for supper, along with a Gas X and my Optisource Multivitamin. Congrats to you Nigel and all the other folks recently banded or are waiting to be banded.
  22. Thanks for all the words of encouragement. I am going stir crazy not being able to do anything. My hubby has been a God send and very helpful!
  23. I had to do 2 meals of clear liquids in the hospital. Apple juice, broth and jello. Then today before coming home I was switched to full liquids. Creamy soups with no chunks, apple juice or any 100% juices, yogurt...plain no lumps or fruit, malt to meal runny, protein shakes, sugar free pudding & jello. V-8 diet Splash is good stuff too, sugar free koolaid, crystal light and the suagr free popsicles. My hubby was snacking on chocolate covered pretzels...and they looked gross! I like that feeling. I hope it lasts, because it will make this process alot easier. Chocolate is my down fall.
  24. I just had surgery yesterday. My surgeon had me stop my Metformin one week prior and I had to continue to monitor my blood sugar. He has continued to keep me off the Metformin as well as my blood pressure medication.(post surgery) I have to continue to check my blood sugars at home 3-4 times a day, plus monitor my BP. I go back to the surgeon in 2 weeks, unless my blood sugars increase to a higher than normal limit, or I am having difficulty with my blood pressure or other health concerns. My surgeon believes I wont have to take my Metformin or my BP med ever again, once more weight comes off!
