  1. Thanks for all your kind words and advice. It helps to know I have a great support team here rooting for me.
  2. Alright here's the deal. The weight is not coming off. I have had 2 fills in since my surgery date (July 29, 2005).(4ccs total volumne in a VG band). I eat slow, no liquids with a meal, 1/2 hour before and after, protein first....yada, yada, yada. I have gained weight back, my low weight was 273, I am now 288! My hair is starting to thin and fall out and I am scared. I take Optisource vitamins 4X a day and eat healthy foods. I can eat 2 or more cups at a time and am hungry within an hour. I know I have to work with my band, but I feel like I am doing all the work. I see my dietician Monday Nov 21st, she said if I am still not a loser, she would ask my doc to do another fill. I don't have another "fill" appt. with my doc again until Dec 7th. (He schedules fills every 6 weeks.) Please give me any words or wisdom, advice or whatever you feel is appropriate. Thanks!
  3. Big & Rich, Cheap Trick, Terri CLark, Charlie Daniels Band, Lonestar, Tanya Tucker, Clay Walker, Carlene Carter, & many more I can't think of right now.
  4. My band is great and has changed my life ....... because............... I no longer need my high blood pressure or diabetes medications. I have more energy and I have more choices for clothing shopping...and I still have more to lose.
  5. 1. string cheese 2. smooth Peanut Butter 3. dill pickles 4. cheese it crackers 5. reese's peanut butter cups 6. bananas 7. beef Jerky 8. green Beans 9. baby carrots 10. deli sliced turkey breast
  6. I am not familiar with Dr. Obrien, but Dr. Andrew Reynolds in Mitchell, SD is an excellent surgeon and doctor. I don't know if he would be an option for surgery for you, or for fills...just thought I would pipe in and say Hello!
  7. I was diagnosed with a fatty liver. I did a doctor/dietician protein shake diet. Optifast was the brand name. I did the chocolate & strawberry shakes and the Optifast chicken broth as well as the Optifast protein bars. I lived on that stuff for two weeks prior to surgery. I lost 12lbs before surgery, as for my liver, I am not sure it made much difference. I was very tender in the liver area, I think because it was enlarged and was possibly bruised or bumped during surgery. All is good now! Best of luck!
  8. Fortunately I did not have to take any oral meds after surgery. However; my doctor said that some meds can be crushed and taken with yogurt or applesauce. I have taken Midol this way, with no ill effects. But check with your doctor and pharmacist.

I was a ball of nerves prior to my surgery. Even though I haven't lost alot, I would have it done again in a heart beat. I no longer have high blood pressure, my type 2 diabetes is controlled by diet/exercise and weightloss and I have more energy and feel better. My self confidence and self image go through the roof, everytime someone comments about how great I look. The good angel in me says I did it for me. The bad little angel says I did it to say to all those fat bashers "Hey how do you like me now?" Best of luck in your journey.
  10. Prayers from South Dakota. I have the larger VG band too. I had my first fill September 14 (3ccs). My second fill was October 26 (1cc) total of 4ccs. MY doc draws out into the syringe what saline is in the band before adding the new, to be sure there is no leak or problems. I wish I could answer your question and I wish I was feeling some restriction , I hate doing this all on my own.
  11. OMG Girlfriend! That scared the crap out of me! The poor dog about peed himself when I screamed! LOL! Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for sharing that is so true!
  13. I placed a personal ad on www.countrysingles.com. You can run an ad for free, it is listed on the internet and in their print newspaper. I met my hubby from South Dakota this way. We have been happily married for 1year and 3 months.
  14. I have a VG band. My first fill September 14th was 3ccs. I go for my next MUCH needed fill on October 26th.
  15. I was a normal size 8lb so many ounces baby. But by age 2 I started to get chubby, then fat from there. I wore my aunt's hand me downs in grade school. She was in her twentys. Then by Junior/senior high I was bigger than my aunt so the Goodwill and Used stores was the option. I was always known as the fat girl through out my school days. My highest weight was 327 in September 2004. I could hardly find clothes to fit on my short 5ft 1in frame at that size. Ebay and online Fatty stores were my only option. Then I heard about the Lapband. The rest is history in the making.
  16. mswicked3 welcome to LBT! I just checked out your profile and we share the same birthday! I am a few moons younger than you, but hey we share the same date! I thought that was pretty cool! I live in Mitchell, SD and was banded by Dr. Reynolds here on July 29, 2005.
  17. I use Benefiber. It is a tasteless powder you can mix into your favorite beverage. For me it doesn't work like a laxative, but "loosens" me up enough to go. I went 3 days before I ever had a BM after surgery. Once you get on regular foods, be sure to get enough fiber in your diet.
  18. My movie was Easy Rider! As for the leader Abe Lincoln!
  19. Thanks Pink Mary you made me smile and made me feel a whole lot more confident!
  20. update! I am down 19 lbs. since my surgery July 29th. I had my first fill September 14th, 3ccs in a VG band. I know I am a slow loser, but heck I am pretty proud of myself! Without the band and change in habits, I would still be wearing tight clothes, and taking 3 different meds! Keep up the good work guys & gals!
  21. I was told to wash mine with antibacterial soap, pat dry and apply triple antibiotic cream on them. (Mine were slightly infected & swollen) They healed up very nicely. I would check with your doctor to see what they suggest.
  22. I have the Vanguard band as well. I just got a fill September 14 (3ccs), I have some restriction but not all the time. My starting weight was 294 day of surgery on a 5 ' 2" frame. From my understanding I was fitted with the larger band because I have a larger gas tank (stomach), the surgeon had placed the smaller band, but it wouldn't work, so then they placed the larger VG band. I know it will take me longer to find that sweet spot, but I am happy with my band. As for your Mexican doctor....good for you for finding a doctor you are happy with. As for the the fill doctor with attitude, tell him to stuff it and find a new fill doctor. He needs an attitude adjustment and better bedside manners. Best of luck to you!
  23. I had a fatty liver. My enzynes were sky high as well. After weightloss thanks in part to diet change and then my band, my levels are back to a normal range. My family physician had me count my carbs (10 a day) and watch my fatty food intake. (Greasy fried foods). My fatty liver was associated with excess weight gain over the years.
  24. My home system I have over 300 CD's varying from country to 80' rock. In my PT Cruiser I have several country & rock CD's. Lately it has been Suzy Bogguss greatest hits and Big & Rich!
