    Has anyone named their band?

Mine is named Bob. (For Big Ol Band) because I have the larger VG band.

    chronic constipation

I know what you mean about the constipation. Mine has really gotten worse since being banded. My dietician suggested Benefiber, that didn't work for me, also ground flax seed, it seems to work if you remember to add it to your yogurt or cereal, or whatever. I haven't really found anything that works great. I have however been drinking a large (16oz) or more of apple juice a day. That seems to keep things flowing. Best of luck.

    Molestation!!!!

No one knows what it is like unless you walk in that individuals shoes. I was molested by a relative when I was 10 y/o. I lived with this until my early 20's when my mom read a letter on the computer I had typed to a friend. The cousin was never prosecuted or recieved any help. I have forgiven him for what he did to me, but would never trust him with any children alone. When he did the abusing I wish someone would have cut his thing off and locked him away forever. I still feel the same way. Sometimes these preverts can get mental help and get better and live productive lives with no further problems, but most of the time they dont. JMO everyone is entitled to one. Oh by the way I am not a child molester or prevert because I was abused. I am completely "normal" if there is such a thing.

    Molestation!!!!

I would be torn on what to do too. Maybe you could write a letter to the judge, explaining your feelings and how you think what your friend did is sick and wrong and should be punished. But you know in your heart that his upbringing was crappy and that he didn't have a fair shake. I know I do a better job of explaining things on paper than in person. This may save you from having to get up on the stand. Also send a duplicate of the letter to your friend and one to his attorney as well. Best of Luck.

    Labwork has me Crying DIABETES!

I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes in September 04. I was immediately put on Metformin and a low carb/low fat diet. I managed to lose around 14lbs. Plus keep my blood sugar levels in the 80-90 range. A week prior to my surgery (7/29/05) I was taken off the Metformin. Since then my blood sugars are good. I feel good and continue to lose weight. Just a suggestion. You mentioned you took your vitamins, next time you go in for "fasting" bloodwork, take NOTHING, just drink some water. If you feel shaky or not right after they draw your blood, ask for a glass of OJ and a small cookie or something sweet. (peanut butter works wonders.) Best of luck to you.

    Sleep Apnea and Surgery

I had sleep apnea prior to having surgery and losing the weight. For surgery they put a tube down my throat and hooked me up to oxygen, this was just a safety precaution. If you suspect you have sleep apnea then ask to be tubed and on oxygen during your procedure. Better safe than sorry. (By the way they numb your throat prior to putting the tube in and other than a slightly sore throat it doesn't hurt at all.) Best of luck!

    filled to the MAX!!

I saw my surgeon today and asked him point blank what happens when someone maxes out their fills and are not at their goal weight. (I currently have 9ccs in a VG band and have over 100lbs to lose.) I asked him if they take the VG band out and replace it with the smaller 4cc band. He said no that would not make a difference, even though they both hold different amounts of saline, diameter size is the same, so a person would not gain any restriction with a smaller band. He said the only resolution would be decrease calories, increase exercise and really work the band. Option b would be remove the band and have another form of weightloss surgery.
  9. I work as a Direct Support Professional (similiar to a nurse aid). I took ten days off and was still pretty sore when I returned to work, but felt fine after 14 days total. Best of Luck!

    Custume ideas needed!!

Oh I love Halloween! We are having a party this year too. Costume ideas.... a bag lady, (use a black garbage bag for a dress, wear some old grubby clothes underneath and old shoes, rat your hair, use some makeup to make yourself look grubby and carry a sign "give to the needy".) Dress up like a man and have your DH or boyfriend or male friend dress up like a woman and go as acouple. Best of luck!

    Gurgling sounds?

I notice my stomach makes the gurgling, rumbling, monster sounds when I wait too long to eat. My hubby gets a good giggle out of it, but like you said it is embarrassing in a restaurant or at a dinner party with friends. Everyone knows I was banded and I explain before a meal that I can only eat so much and that my stomach monster may voice an opinion. I also explain that when I get the hiccups it is my cue to stop eating and just enjoy conversation. Best of luck to you.

    Old Enough to Remember

We're all old enough to remember..... Some of you are not fortunate enough to know what most of this is... AHHHHHHHHHH MEMORIES!!! Close your eyes...And go back... ....Before the Internet or PC or the MAC...... ....Before semi-automatics and crack.... ....Before Playstation, SEGA, Super Nintendo, even before Atari... ....Before cell phones, CD's, DVD's, voicemail and e-mail.... ....way back.... ....way.....way.....way back..... I'm talkin' bout hide and seek at dusk Red light, Green light Red Rover....Red Rover..... Playing kickball & dodgeball until the first...no...second...no...third Streetlight came on Ring around the Rosie London Bridge Hot potato Hop Scotch Jump rope Duck....duck....GOOSE!!! YOU'RE IT!! Parents stood on the front porch and yelled (or whistled) for you to come home - no pagers or cell phones Mother May I? Hula Hoops Seeing shapes in the clouds Endless summer days and hot summer nights (no A/C) with the windows open The sound of crickets Running through the sprinkler Happy Meals Cereal boxes with that GREAT prize in the bottom Cracker jacks with the same thing Ice pops with 2 sticks you could break and share with a friend ...but wait.....there's more.... Watchin' Saturday Morning cartoons Fat Albert, Road Runner, Smurfs, Picture Pages, G-Force & He-Man, Schoolhouse Rock Watchin' Sunday morning oldies (Abbott & Costello, Three Stooges) Wonder Woman & Super Man Underoos FONZIE.....AYYYYYYYY Playing Dukes of Hazard Catchin' lightning bugs in a jar Christmas morning Your first day of school Bedtime Prayers and Goodnight Kisses Climbing trees Swinging as high as you could to try and reach the sky Getting an Ice Cream off the Good Humor Truck A million mosquito bites and sticky fingers Jumpin' down the steps Jumpin' on the bed Pillow fights Sleep-overs A 13" black and white TV in your room meant you were RICH Runnin' till you were out of breath Laughing so hard that your stomach hurt Being tired from PLAYING WORK: meant taking out the garbage or doing the dishes Your first crush Your first kiss (I mean the one that you kept your mouth CLOSED and your eyes OPEN) Rainy days at school meant playing "Heads up 7UP" or hangman" in The classroom, Remember that? Oh, I'm not finished yet.... Kool-Aid was the drink of the summer So was a swig from the hose Giving your friends a ride on your handlebars Wearing your new shoes on the first day of school Class Field Trips with soggy sandwiches When nearly everyone's mom was at home when the kids got there When a quarter seemed like a fair allowance; and another quarter a MIRACLE When ANY parent could discipline ANY kid, or feed him, or use him to carry groceries...And nobody, not even the kid, thought a thing of it. When your parents took you to McDonalds and you were COOL When being sent to the principal's office was nothing compared to the fate that awaited you at home. Basically, we were in fear for our lives but it wasn't because of drive by shootings, drugs, gangs, etc. Our parents and grandparents were a much bigger threat! And some of us are still afraid of em! Didn't that feel good? Just to go back and say, "Yeah, I remember that!" Well, let's keep going!! Let's go back to the time when... Decisions were made by going "eeny-meeny-miney-mo" Mistakes were corrected by simply exclaiming, "do over!" "Race issues" meant arguing about who ran the fastest. Money issues were handled by whoever was the banker in "monopoly" Catching fireflies could happily occupy an entire evening It wasn't odd to have two or three "best" friends. Being old, referred to anyone over 20. (CRAP! I'm officially old!) The worst thing you could catch from the opposite sex was cooties. Nobody was prettier than Mom Scrapes and bruises were kissed by mom or grandma and made better It was a big deal to finally be tall enough to ride the "big people" rides at the amusement park. Getting a foot of snow was a dream come true. Abilities were discovered because of a "double-dog-dare" Spinning around, getting dizzy and falling down was cause for giggles. The worst embarrassment was being picked last for a team. Water balloons were the ultimate, ultimate weapon. Older siblings were your worst tormentors, but also your fiercest protector If you can remember most or all of these, then you have LIVED!!! Pass this on to anyone who may need a break from their "grown up" life......I TRIPLE DOG DARE YA!!!!!!

    The Saddest Thing

On my way home from work this morning I passed the middle school. The P.E./Gym class was running laps around the school building and acreage. Most of the teens were in healthy (skinny) form and seemed to be keeping a good pace. The instructor (firm & fit) sounded like a drill sergeant screaming at the kids. At the tail end of the line were two heavy set (one was morbidly obese) boys. :think They were doing all they could do to keep up. I wanted to cry. I wanted to stop the car and deck the instructor, :couch2: I wanted to stop and tell those boys don't give up hope and things will get better. :clap2: I was those boys all through my school career, school was hell being the FAT kid. :cry Any thoughts or comments?

    Any O.N. or Graveshift workers?

My dh and I both work the O.N. or graveshift. DH works 5pm-3:30am and I work 11pm-9am. We generally sleep till 3pm then get up and eat our supper meal together. Then dh is off to work shortly there after. I then have a small bite to eat around 8pm and then off to work by 10:30. I am able to snack some at work, but I try to choose healthy snacks. I generally eat a yogurt for breakfast at work or oatmeal or something similiar (around 6am). I get home around 9:15am and then stay up till 10:30, then head to bed. Any one else work the graveyard shift and how do you eat and exercise and all that good stuff?

For Those who have "Hit the Sweet Spot"

I have a VG band and I went through the same thing. At 6ccs I thought "Oh Lordy, I finally have restriction!", but then it seemed to slip away. I was certain I had a leak, stretched my pouch or something. NADA! I just needed more fill. I finally have what I believe to be good restriction at 9ccs. It took awhile to get to 9ccs, but now I am happy and lossing once again. Best of Luck to you.
