PCOS Bandsters (pre and post op)

I have PCOS. I was on Metformin for a year prior to my surgery. That regulated my cycles. One week prior to surgery my doc stopped the Metformin in fear my blood sugar would bottom out. I went a month without a cycle, but now it comes like clock work. No more Metformin, so I believe losing weight did help me there. But I do struggle with the weightloss, seems like when I follow the rules to a tee, I don't lose, but when I eat what I am craving, within reason I succeed. Best of luck.

My gift is on it's way to the land of potatoes and clear skies!
  6. Very surprised that I live three states away from all my friends and family. Also that I married a wonderful man I met online! Plus my success of weightloss thus far. And that I am a home owner and tax payer and like staying home and just chillin!

    Anyone reading anything good?

I just finished Without A Net, by: Michelle Kennedy. It is a good read. It is about a middle class mother and her children becoming homeless. It is based on a true story, a memoir. I am now reading A Memory Keeper's Daughter. I can't remember the author right now, but it is a slow read, but good. It is about a doctor's wife who has twins and the baby girl has Down's syndrome. The doctor tells the nurse to take the baby girl to a state hospital for children. The nurse does, but decides to raise the baby herself.

    Wish List for Xmas exchange

I collect Basset Hound items, black & white cows, candles, USA state postcards, (something unique from your state or country is cool too.)I also love Christmas decor and pierced earrings. Stationary is always nice too, because I have tons of penpals I write. But anything would be loved and adored.

    I found a cure for Acid Reflux/heartburn

Worked for me too. I used to get horrendous heart burn, sour stomach and acid reflux prior to losing weight. I have even tried dill pickle juice amd that worked too. The vinegar works wonders. I guess by what I have heard it neutralizes the acid in the stomach and dissipates that sour, ucky feeling.

    Thanksgiving Day Poem

TWAS THE NIGHT OF THANKSGIVING, BUT I JUST COULDN'T SLEEP. I TRIED COUNTING BACKWARDS, I TRIED COUNTING SHEEP. THE LEFTOVERS BECKONED - THE DARK MEAT AND WHITE, BUT I FOUGHT THE TEMPTATION WITH ALL OF MY MIGHT. TOSSING AND TURNING WITH ANTICIPATION, THE THOUGHT OF A SNACK BECAME INFATUATION. SO, I RACED TO THE KITCHEN, FLUNG OPEN THE DOOR AND GAZED AT THE FRIDGE, FULL OF GOODIES GALORE. I GOBBLED UP TURKEY AND BUTTERED POTATOES, PICKLES AND CARROTS, BEANS AND TOMATOES. I FELT MYSELF SWELLING SO PLUMP AND SO ROUND, 'TIL ALL OF A SUDDEN, I ROSE OFF THE GROUND. I CRASHED THROUGH THE CEILING, FLOATING INTO THE SKY WITH A MOUTHFUL OF PUDDING AND A HANDFUL OF PIE. BUT, I MANAGED TO YELL AS I SOARED PAST THE TREES.... HAPPY EATING TO ALL PASS THE CRANBERRIES, PLEASE. MAY YOUR STUFFING BE TASTY, MAY YOUR TURKEY BE PLUMP. MAY YOUR POTATOES 'N GRAVY HAVE NARY A LUMP, MAY YOUR YAMS BE DELICIOUS MAY YOUR PIES TAKE THE PRIZE, MAY YOUR THANKSGIVING DINNER STAY OFF OF YOUR THIGHS. HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
  12. First off I know what your daughter feels. I was fat all my life, the fat girl all through school. It is a miserable life to live. Second please have her throughly tested for thyroid problems, cushings and other possible weight causing diseases. If there is a medical reason, there are medications that could help her lose the weight. Third get rid of all the junk out of your house. You can't expect your daughter to lose weight and eat healthy if her brothers and the rest of the family eats crap. I know this is easier said than done. Fourth find a therapist & nutritionist that work specifically with child eating disorders...someone that specializes in the field. Fifth contact your local weight watchers, TOPS or weightloss group and join with your daughter. (Even if you don't need to lose a pound, show that you are willing to do whatever it takes to help her win this battle.) Sixth be supportive and understanding, dealing with a food addiction is worse than an alcohol or drug addition. Everyone has to eat and food is everywhere. Best of luck!

    Lapband Surgery - Diabetes

My blood sugars were fine during the liquid stage. I was borderline Type 2, on 500mg of Metformin 3 times a day. I was removed off my meds prior to surgery and have never went back on. My blood sugars continue to be in the normal range! Best of luck!

    Free Lap Band

Just a suggestion. Why not advertise on here or in your local papers that you will donate the money for someone's lapband surgery? The catch is they have to write an essay, including pictures, lifestory and reasons why they deserve this gift. Plus have them include letters from their doctor, and 3 other reference letters (character references). Set a deadline, then let the fun begin.
  21. I'm tired of our sons, daughters, husbands, wives, aunts, uncles, brothers, and sisters, dying in a war we will NEVER win. I am tired of President Bush lying to the American people. I am tired of living paycheck to paycheck and never getting ahead. Land of the Free...my arse! "Big Brother" has their noses in everything we say and do. I am proud to be American, but EXTREMELY embarrassed by our President and his poor management of our tax dollars and our country.
  22. I did the "chew & spit" thing during the mushie stage. DH was enjoying a nice lean beef steak, while I had puree mush...whatever. I had DH cut me a small child sized bite. I chewed and chewed till my mouth couldn't chew no more. Then I spit it in my napkin. DH asked me if I felt better. You betcha! I needed that chewing sensation for my sanity. I don't see where it hurts, as long as it is healthy stuff you are chewing & spitting out. Best of luck!

    What's Your Favorite Horror movie?

What is your favorite horror (scary) movie of all time? And why? If you don't like horror (scary)movies why? My favorite horror movie of all time would be any of the Pyscho movies. The reason I like them, because they are realistic in a sense, and not too bloody or far fetched.

    Dr. Phil House of Hatred

Anyone else catch the Dr. Phil Hose of Hatred episode on Monday? Six individuals with different judgments and prejudices move into The Dr. Phil House together, with cameras capturing every move as they struggle to challenge their own beliefs and values. Gary is a white supremacist, and B. is an African-American who hates white people. Staci is thin and hates fat people, and John is over 600 pounds and hates skinny people. Christina fears and hates homosexuals, and Tessa is a lesbian who hates straight people. They all work together in various assignments from Dr. Phil. Will they break down the walls of hatred and intolerance and learn to accept one another? Part 1 summary: After meeting each other, the group learn they will be rooming with the very person they dislike the most. Dr. Phil immediately gives them an assignment: to clean their roommate's belongings. While everyone dives into the task, John talks on the phone. Dr. Phil dubs Tessa "house leader" for the day, and John has to be her assistant. She immediately puts John to work, but when she orders him to take a shower, he refuses. Tessa withholds John's dinner, and John makes arrangements to leave. These people really need help. But the truth is there are tons of people just like them that we meet everyday.
