    First Fill Ever Today!

I finally started to fill some restriction the end of last week (Thursday & Friday). I can still eat about anything, nothing stuck and thank goodness no PB, but that can be a bad thing too. I am down to 276 now so there has been some weightloss, I am not exercising as I should, but I am a heck of lot healthier than I was 7weeks ago. I am healthier now then what I have been since highschool or even before that.

    Attention!!! Any July 2005 Bandsters

I was banded july 29th with the larger VG band. I have lost 16lbs since the day of surgery, plus what I lost pre op for a total of 38lbs. I had my first fill September 14th, (3ccs) and still not feeling much restriction. I will get another fill (October 27th). I try to eat right and walk atleast once a day. I am definitely more active and have more energy. I no longer take any BP meds or diabetes meds. I still use my CPAP machine, but hopefully that will be gone soon!

    My Hubby has cataracts

My hubby went to the eye doctor yesterday. He has been having trouble with his vision since last fall. The doctor referred him to a specialist because he has early stage cataracts. My husband is only 35y/o. He had a kidney transplant in 2000 and one of the side effects of his medication is possible formation of cataracts. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers, he is having a tough time dealing with this. I know and he knows they can fix the problem with surgery, but he has already been through so much with his kidney and everything. Thanks for listening!

    Big & Rich Concert

LOL! I did email the director of the Corn Palace where the concert was held. He emailed me back and apologized for that man's comment. He also promised if the man was an employee he would be disciplined. After thinking about it, the man could have been with the carnival or just another concert goer, but anyhow he should not have said what he did! Thanks again to everyone who commented on this thread.

    Big & Rich Concert

Last night I went to the Big & Rich concert at the Corn Palace here in Mitchell, SD. Myself and another "big" gal I work with took 2 people in wheelchairs. We got front row seats! We were within touching distance from the stage and the group! What an awesome show! They made everyone feel special! After the show we slipped out a side door. A rather large man himself...no skinny was holding the door open for people. He made the comment as the gal I work with passed by..."She needs a cow bell on her!" I was P.O.ed! I don't think she ever heard the comment and I never mentioned it. But it hurt my feelings as well. If I would have thought quick enough I could have "accidently" rammed him in the leg with the wheelchair I was pushing! Some people are just SO rude and immature.

Thanks for all your kind words. I know we have all been there a time or two. No wonder there is so much hate and disrespect in the world.

    Terrified new member

I know exactly what you are feeling. I was scared, nervous, happy, anxious, and a whole heap of emotions, prior to surgery. I was banded July 29, 2005. I have lost 14lbs since surgery and am currently stuck. I won't get my first fill till September 14th. I am and was heavy alll my life. My highest weight was in September 2004 I weighed 327lbs on a 5' 2" frame. Yikes. I was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes & had suffered from high BP since my highschool days. I went on a low carb (10 carb a day diet per a Reg. dietician) and lost 24 lbs. At my initial consult with my surgeon in May 2005 I weighed 314. I now weigh 280lbs. I am 33 years old. I have been heavy, fat, obese, morbid obese since age 2 or 3. Chocolate is my enemy. I like food period. I dont know what it is like to be a healthy weight or what kind of person I will be. I know I am a huge person with a heart of gold now, I hope and pray that I am a "normal" size person with that same heart of gold when I reach my goal. My goal is 150lbs or less. Best of luck to you!

    Medifast Or Optifast

They aren't bad....The Optifast. I had the chocolate & strawberry shakes, the peanut and chocolate bars and the chicken broth. I did them for 14 days and survived. I dont think I would want to do them for a month though.

    Most Embarrassing Moment Anyone?

When I was in the 5th grade we had an inside recess do to rain. Well some of my classmates decided to pull out the Twister game. I decided it would be fun to play. Well I ripped the crotch of my favorite jeans out. I proceeded to tell my teacher what happened. She sent me and another girl to the bathroom. She told me to remove my jeans and she would mend them for me. I begged her to let me call my mom to bring me another pair...but she said no. I even asked if I could sit in the office for the rest of the day....she said no. So I did as she asked me too. My friends later told me that she did in fact sit at her desk and mended my ripped out jeans. I was humilated!

    Fun Thread for the Bored

Okay this is a good one. My friends had us all dress up in scary costumes and hide in their cemetary they made in their yard for Halloween night. I dressed up like zombie woman and hid under a tree. Well the neighbors cat climbed up there without me knowing...well I was crouching down waiting for the next group of kids and all of a sudden that cat lit right on my back. I let out one heck of a screech and yelled like a crazy woman. I was never so scared in my life. Everyone got a good laugh out of it! LOL!

    Does everyone take vitamins?

I take an Optisource Chewable 4 times a day as instructed by my surgeon. (It is specially formulated for people who have had weighloss surgery). Six weeks post OP I will take one a day. I also take a chewable Vitamin C daily. To keep the bugs at bay. The Optisource vitamins are available at Walgreens.

    Time off after surgery

I work as a Direct Support Pro. (similiar to a nurse aide) I took 10 days off from work. I am so glad I had that time to rest and recover. I think three weeks will be plenty of time for you to recoop and adjust to the diet. Best of luck!
