KEVORKIAN to be freed June 1 07!!!!!

I think Mr. Kevorkian is a wonderful person. People should not have to suffer in pain from terminal diseases like cancer, aids, etc. I have saw many people deal with the agony of these tragic conditions. They shouldn't have to suffer. I support physician assisted suicide.

    MIL Problems

Thanks everyone. I too believe she needs counseling. I also believe she is seriously depressed. This has been going on for years, even before she lost her husband. According to the extended family she (MIL) has been a bitter, cold hearted, negative person for as long as anyone can remember. It has just gotten progressively worse. I will talk to my DH and his brothers and try to convince them she needs mental (counseling) and help.

    MIL Problems

Okay so hear it goes my MIL managed to irritate me once again. DH, and I, along with friends and family (cousins) decided we were going camping this weekend. (this was decided way back in March.) Anywho DH and I headed down on Thursday morning to reserve a spot for all of us. Weds night I sent out an email before going to work informing everyone (including my MIL) that we wouldnt be home till Sunday afternoon or evening. It was a simple form email that stated we were leaving Thurs. am camping and would be back on Sunday afternoon. She (MIL) replied to the email. "OK I don't care." My BIL & SIL invited her to come down to visit on Saturday, she never showed. I'm not sure what my next step should be. I am tempted to tell her to get her crap out of our garage and only communicate with her when I absolutely have to. Other than that I am not sure. I just don't want hard feelings between my DH and me. He is so good to me and for me. This is his mother we are discussing, but she hasn't liked me from day one. Any ideas?

    Question about pureed meat

I am thinking more like babyfood, so it slides down more easily. You don't want it too dry or too stringy...pork tends to get that way. We puree people's food at work and use the juice from the pot or pan to keep things moist enough. If there isn't any juice or broth we use milk or water, sometimes gravy too. Check with your surgeon or dietician to be certain. Best of luck.

    Dizzy

Try some sugar free popsicles or ice pops. They were a life saver for me when I had trouble keeping anything down. Also besides being dehydrated or low blood sugar, you could have low potassium. Is it also possible you were around someone with the stomach flu? If you arent feeling better I would see your surgeon ASAP. Better safe than sorry. Best of luck!
  6. I work with developmentally disabled adults in a private home setting. The five ladies I was working with were sharing their family photos and showing me their picture ids. They wanted to see my picture id (dl). I showed it to them and they didn't believe it was me, I am fat faced in that photo. I explained to them that I had lost some weight so that made my face look different. I still don't think they thought it was me. LOL!

    Diabetes question

I took the metformin 500mg 3times daily for over a year prior to my surgery. I was pre-diabetes as well and diagnosed with PCOS. My blood sugars were in the normal to low range with the medication. One week prior to surgery my med was stopped by my surgeon in fear my blood sugar levels would plummet. My blood sugar was closely monitored by myself and my doctor for the time prior to and for a time after surgery. My levels continue to in the normal to low range. The only medication I am now on is for my blood pressure and I have a feeling they will cut that soon. My diabetes is souly controlled by my diet and exercise regimen and my weightloss.
  8. I was under two hours as well. I had a breathing tube because I had sleep apnea, but all went well. You have nothing to fear!

    Optisource Vitamins

My surgeon and dietician both said follow the directions on the bottle. "Four a day won't hurt you!"

    Optisource Vitamins

I use the Optisource vitamins. They are pretty good, orange flavored chewable. You have to take 4 a day, but they aren't bad.

    Growling stomach!

Mine doesn't growl, but it makes a gurgling noise from time to time. I named my band BOB...."big ol' band" and everytime it starts gurgling where other people can hear it....I say "Oh Bob shut up and mind your own business!" It gets a giggle out of my husband every time!

    Weird gurgling

It's probably the gas they pumped you up with for surgery. It will eventually leave your system. Try to walk around as much as you can tolerate and dont be lady like.....let er rip.

To Spank or not to Spank

    I totally agree!
  16. What a nightmare! DH and I planned our own wedding. We were married 7/10/04 in my parents front lawn in Michigan. (We live in SD.) My parents, paid for the cake, beer, furnished the ham and rented a port a potty. I bought my dress, reception decor, reception bubbles, bells, etc, and had my cousin DJ the festivities. (Using my stereo & CD collection.) Friends furnished fireworks for the end of the reception....what a send off into marital bliss! DH and I were frazzled but the wedding and reception were wonderful. To this day family and friends comment about how nice and fun our wedding & reception was.

To Spank or not to Spank

Spanking doesn't work for every situation. Just as time outs, taking away priviledges etc., doesn't work for every child or situation. Usually the threat of spanking was enough to get my sis and I on the straight path. I can remember my cousins were unruly brats. They would kick and hit and curse other kids and even disrespect adults. (Including their mom.) Their dad on the other hand used the threat of spanking and they were fine and I enjoyed playing with them. But if my uncle was busy and my aunt was just there, then it was all out war. She screamed at them, tried time outs, took away priviledges and everything, except the threat of a spanking or actual spanking. I am not saying I condone violence against anyone, whether it is a child or adult. However; sometimes a light tap on the bottom or the threat of, is enough to get a child in control. Believe me I have dealt with all sorts of good and bad children over the years, who were disciplined by all sorts of methods. Some worked and some didn't.

To Spank or not to Spank

I like your system and totally agree. These parents who say spanking is wrong and will ruin the child's self esteem are full of it. Let's see where their kids end up as teens and adults.

    Favorite songs?

I love everything from AC/DC to Alan Jackson. It depends on my mood. DH and I own over 300 CD's and are still adding more to our collection!

To Spank or not to Spank

I was spanked as a child and will spank my future children if needed. I remember when my teachers had wooden paddles and weren't afraid to use them. Now look at the problems teachers, parents and others have to deal with. People need to discipline their children whatever way works for them.

    Hair Loss Question

I lost hair up until the 4th month post op. Then my once thick hair was normal to thin. I now take biotin daily for hair and nail growth. My hair is ALOT healthier now too. I used to battle dandruff and really oily scalp, now I have to use conditioner to keep moisture in it.
  22. Go in listen to what he says and follow his advice. I have been in your shoes and always feel better after I see my doc. He always says stick with the program, "Pam you know the rules and YOU know how to lose the weight." Best of Luck!

in laws are coming to town - what to do??

Lock the doors and don't let them in? Okay maybe that won't work. If they question the weightloss, just say your eating healthier and exercising, then change the subject. (Hey MIL did you color your hair, I notice it isnt so gray anymore?, Hey FIL did you use botox I notice the wrinkles are gone in your forehead?) LOL

    American Idol 2007

I feel the same way. Jordin should win. Blake is okay, but not my style, but he will go far! Melinda is very good, but get with the program girl. She reminds me of a lounge singer or someone on the Loveboat. JMO
