    Gambling addiction

My MIL has a gambling problem. Every family member has given her small amounts of money over the years. Most of the time she will lie about needing gas money or milk or a need to pay a back bill. DH and I won't give her anymore money. If she says she needs milk, we buy her milk, if she needs gas, we ride with her to the gas station and pump gas in her car, etc. We stopped enabling her addiction. (She has commented to other family members that my DH has "changed" since we have gotten married.) Well he has wised up to her manipulating ways. Giving a gambler money is like giving an alcholic a drink, or a drug user; their drug of choice. I have an addiction, mine happens to be food. Stop giving me food and I would be thin. But at last we must eat.....just in moderation. Thank God and modern medicine for my lap band. Best of luck to you and your friend.

    Favorite Superbowl Commercial

I liked the English class. Where the instructor is teaching the people to order a bud light. Very funny! Bud Light & Budweiser always have the best commercials. You can find past super bowl commercials on youtube.com.

    Roadside shrines

The road side shrines don't really bother me. Here in South Dakota the DOT puts up regular highway type signs where ever someone dies in a MVA. I'm not sure if the family must request this, or the DOT does it for all MVAs. When I lived in Michigan still and good friend of mine was killed by a drunk driver, he was 25 and was giving some kids and their folks a hayride. The drunk driver topped a hill, hit the hay wagon and bucked my friend off the tractor, which in turn ran him over. He died right there. The other people only had minor cuts and bruises. The DD was not injured. My sister and I hired a wood worker neighbor to make a cross, with my friend's name and the date he died and friends forever on it. My dad helped us stain and waterproof it and set it in the site. Far enough off the road not to be a distraction, but within few feet to remind people of the dangers of drunk driving. We never mentioned to any of my friend's family or other friends we had did this. Then the family started asking who did it, and we admitted it. They were honored and happy that someone had erected such a beautiful tribute to their family member. As always there are two sides to every story. JMO.

    Amount for Dietitian Visits??

$20 out of pocket each time I see the dietician here. My insurance does not pay unless it is diabetes related. Fortunately hubby's insurance will pick up the cost. Otherwise it would be $20 each time I see her.

    VG band restrictions

9.5 cc's seems to be doing the trick for me.
  9. maudeispam

Filled to 9cc or more in a VG band?

I have 9.5 cc's in my band. I do have restriction, but really have to watch what I eat. It is sure easy to eat the wrong stuff and not enough of the right stuff. My doc is set on not putting much more in. So needless to say I am not sure how much more fill I will be getting. Hopefully enough to lose the rest of my excess weight. Best of luck to you!

How is the LB when you get the flu, etc?

I had the flu a few weeks ago. Dry heave Vomiting & liquid BM's. Not fun, but it never is. I was told if this happens again to see my doc right away for a anti-nausea shot. Other than the dry heaves and not being able to vomit, it was tolerable.
  11. Mommy202~~~ I would do it again in a heart beat. I no longer need my Diabetes medications, or C-pap machine for sleep apnea. I can walk without getting winded and I have a ton more energy. Even if I never drop another lb. I am alot healthier now, then what I was at 327lbs. Best of luck to you in your journey!

    i'm in pain!

Are you constipated? When was your last BM? If you just had surgery you should have your first BM in 3-4 days. If you have been banded awhile you may be constipated. My surgeon recommended Ducolax for 3-5 days till I got relief. (I was in the ER last year with severe abdominal cramping, no desire to eat, gas and unable to produce a BM.) To this day I have to do the Ducolax regimen once a month or I am in misery. Please check with your surgeon or clinic first to be sure. Best of luck!
  13. I was banded 7/29/05. I have no where near lost as much as others on this post, but I am once again lossing. Yeah! I am finally feeling restriction again. Best of luck.

    Hoarding and Morbid Obesity

I have been MO all my life and never had "weight related side effects" until my early 30's. I was a medical mystery! As far as medical tests I should have been an athlete and size 2. LOL!

    Hoarding and Morbid Obesity

That was a very good episode. I was channel surfing and found it. Quite interesting on both aspects!

    Funniest commercial

I like the one with the dog gargling. It is for a dogfood. So funny! I wish our Ethan knew how to gargle! LOL

    I've got the weather blues...

I am sick of the cold and snow here in SD. I hate the hot weather of summer too, but it would be great to get a 60 or 70 degree day!

    BSBC Of MN

my hubby has bcbs of minnesota. I can't answer your question about the diet for the year, but they have been excellent about paying for my fills and follow up care. They cover what my dakotacare policy won't, which is about everything weight related. Best of luck!

I need to get this out of my system.....

Honey hold your head high and carry yourself like you are a size 2 or whatever size you are dreaming of being. Obviously dont go buy a bikini or anything silly till you get where you want to be, but be proud of who you are. You have a loving soul and a wonderful sense of humor and have an ALOT to share with many people. It took me till the age of 30 to find Mr. Right and he was three states away! But boy I wouldn't trade him for anything. He accepted me for the (327lb) 5ft 2in woman I was, and said he will love me no matter how big or little I get! He told me several times that to him I look like a super model. "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder." Get out, find your groove, volunteer, go to church and live life to the fullest! Do things you love to do and it will all fall in place. Best of luck, were all cheering for you. You Sexy Thang!

    My OBGYN and my Period

I have to agree with the other ladies. For about two weeks I couldn't stand to lie flat on my back, on my stomach, or on either side. It felt like someone was tugging my insides out of me. Hubby's oversized recliner was my best friend! I wouldn't have dreamed of having any kind of exam lying down at that time.
  25. "I went from a size 10 to a size 2." That really irritates me. I am sorry, but if your a size 10, you don't need any weightloss pills or anything!
