    What was your turning point?

My turning point was not being able to find clothes that fit. I had to special order from catalogs, ebay or other online retailers or buy used clothes. I was also sick and tired of being sick and tired!

    Hello from Ohio

Welcome to LBT. Best of luck with your journey. I also have the VG band. I have had 5 fills and am up tp 8ccs. I am finally feeling some restriction, but like yourself I have a terrible sweet tooth. My doc just prescribed 1/2 tsp. of Prozac a day in hopes to curb my cravings. I haven't noticed a difference yet, but the pharmacist said it could take 4-6 weeks to notice a change. I was banded July 29, 2005.I have lost about 57lbs total since September 2004.

    Unsupportive family members!!

I think you did the right thing. Sounds to me that they are jealous that you took this big step and this is their way of dealing with it. Maybe ask them if they had the choice of surgery in the usa or the same thing in mexico for a lot less, what would they choose. Plus ask them if they would tell their family and friends of that choice. Then ask them if they have EVER was deceitful or deceptive to anyone. Then try to explain yourself, if that still doesn't work...cut your losses and move on. Or you could always go on Dr. Phil!

Should I break up with him?

Get the heck out of there FAST! My ex-boyfriend was the same way. Our relationship (on & off for 8 years) was the same in so many aspects. I was a pawn in his life and a convenience when he needed help with his daughter, or a bed partner. We very seldom socailized in public and he never showed affection to me around other people. He was a such a jerk. My best advice, get out while you still have your self esteem and sanity. I found a wonderful man that is proud of me (big & gettin skinnier) and treats me like I truly deserve. I know you will find "Mr. Right"! I found mine 3 states away on the internet! :nervous

    How about a coupon/sample train?

On one of the old freebie forums I was on, they had what they call coupon/sample trains. Several people joined these "train" rides and exchanged coupons/samples. One person would be assigned to take the names and addresses of all involved and then post the order the train would go. Once I have the list together I would post on here who gets the coupons after me (I would start the train), then the next person takes what coupons/samples they want then replace with different coupns/samples and pass it on, till it returns to me, then we can either go again or crash the train. I hope that makes sense. I would be the person in charge. But let me know if any of you are interested. It is a great way to get coupons/samples and get rid of ones you don't want or need. (Also no ones addresses would be posted on here, only your screen name. The address would be included in the envelope with the coupons...similiar to a chain letter.)

    What do husbands think

My DH wasn't too keen about me having any form of weightloss surgery. My initial intention was to have GB. I had to wait a year for the insurance, while waiting the surgeon closed shop and moved. While searching for a new GB surgeon in my area, I discovered the Lap Band procedure. DH was very supportive and went to all my appointments. He told me from the get go he was nervous, because of my weight and the risks involved with surgery. We had a good cry and discussed funeral arrangements and the future, always keeping things as positive as we could. He also said he feared once I lost the weight I would leave him. There was more crying, holding, and reassurance that no matter how thick, thin or fluffy I am...he is the only one for me. Now as my weight slowly melts away, my DH is slowly melting with me. We are both healthier and happier than we have been in a LONG time.

    Addictions...

    1. Food: chocolate 2. Alcohol: I drank from age 17 to age 31. Not everyday, not every weekend, but enough. Now I only have a drink on New Years and my birthday and hubby's birthday. 3. Marijuana: I was a pot head from age 20 to 31. I quit cold turkey and never looked back. I didn't smoke everyday or every weekend. Only when friend's (if you can call them that) had it to offer. 4. Internet: they need an IA chapter (Internet addicted) and a 12 step program!
  16. 1. 5th grade playing that game "Twister" during inside recess. I ripped the crotch out of my jeans. I told the teacher and she sent me to the bathroom. She sent one of my classmates to fetch my jeans from me so she could sew them, in front of all my classmates. I cried and begged and pleaded for my classmate to beg to teacher to call my mom to bring me another pair of pants. My classmate pleaded for me and the old witch refused. I was so embarrassed when I returned to class after my sew job. 2. I worked at a summer camp for developmentally disabled children. I was there 2 weeks when I had enough. The rest of the camp counselors were in the teens and twentys, I was 31. We had to hike down to the swimming beach which was atleast a mile away, then we played tag and running games all the time. When I ran my fat roll slapped on my thighs and everyone could hear it. One of the little boys asked why my body was SOOO fat. I wanted to cry. I told him God makes everyone special, he smiled and gave me a hug. That made everything better. I am sure there are a million little moments in my life that hurt at the time, but I can't recall anymore at this time. I know these moments, the good, the bad and the ugly made me the person I am today. A person who has compassion and understanding and a heart of gold. Thanks for the great thread.

    Gross me out, please!

I notice I PB if I 1. eat too fast, 2. wait too long before I eat (Get overly hungry), 3. Eat white bread or any kind of buns or doughy product.,4. McDonalds and any hamburger joint is a no no too, (Ugh PB's). As for the restaurant thing, yes and yes I ran to the bathroom. I felt it coming on and excused myself. Now I know my limits and stop when I get that full feeling. It took me some time to learn, but you will too. I have only slimed once and that was prior to a PB. It was similiar to coughing up phylegm but not as lovely colored or awful tasting. LOL!

Well it doesn't look like anyone else in interested. SO I guess it will be us four. I will start the train by sending my coupons/samples to kyleighp, then she will pass them on to hagerteresa, then hagerteresa will pass them on to kennedy927 and then back to me. Then we can either crash the train or start all over. hagerteresa I still need your mailing addy so I can start the list and get the train rolling! Thanks.
