21 pounds in 14 days is a lot! Everyone's rate of loss is different, but you're definitely doing well!

BG- got a reaction from Pepper123 in Surgeon insisting on two seperate procedures
Interesting he wants to do it separately. I didn't have any signs of a hiatal hernia, but did end up having one, and he repaired it during surgery. I even had to sign a consent to the possible hernia repair. Unless the hernia is drastic, I don't see why he would want to do it separately. Perhaps he's just extra cautious?

BG- got a reaction from vincereautmori in How many calories is too few
I had trouble with minimum calories my first week, too. Doc said as long as I was getting as much Protein as possible and all my Water, I could work my way up. BUT, after the first week check-up, he said I really needed to try hard to get in at least 600 calories. If I didn't, my energy would suffer. Whatever your doc recommended minimum, try to work your way up to, so you can heal quickly and regain the energy to resume a normal life as soon as possible.

This may be more than you want but I have a 12 page file of tips and recipes on Protein Shakes. Some of the recipes are mine but others were gathered from various bariatric sites around the web. You can view or download here:

I didn't actually have the ice cream. Opted for the sugar free ice pop when we got back instead. Thanks for all the suggestions.
    The journey continues.

BG- got a reaction from Summer Rain in Two days post-op
Had my sleeve done on Monday, the 4th, and will be discharged from the hospital in a couple hours. For me, the gas pains and nausea have been the worst of it. The PCA pain medicine made me very nauseated, almost to the point of vomiting, but my nurses have been a wonderful support and help. Switched to a liquid narcotic painkiller and that did the trick with the nausea. Gas is still inside me, and that's been a struggle to get rid of, but doc said it should go away in the next day or so. Fingers crossed! My surgeon was wonderful and has come to check on me frequently after the procedure.
So glad I did this, and the procedure is finally done. Now looking forward to the weeks/months ahead.
Happy to answer any specific questions for anyone with upcoming dates. Will be posting my progress along the way as well.

BG- got a reaction from alwaysvegas in Now that surgery is 4 days away...
...I'm starting to get a little nervous. I took a lot of time and weighed all my options before finally deciding to undergo the sleeve. I know this is the right choice for me. I'm not worried about the surgery. This is more about how I will deal with how quickly I will (or won't) lose the weight, how obsessed I have always been with the scale (I weigh myself no fewer than three times a day), and whether I'll be satisfied with my progress. I have every reason to believe this is the very best thing for me. And I'm excited. I just hope I don't let my head interfere.
I've been quietly reading the forums for several months now. Seems like a supportive group of people, I look forward to this journey...and will look her for wisdom along the way.
