I don't even know if this is the right place to talk about this. 13 years ago I had my stomach stapled in Cardston Alberta. I lost a lot of weight and kept if off for years. About 7 years ago I started to eat a bit more. I started to get hungry. I ate little bits, all through out the day. I started to suffer from acid coming up into my throat. I would occasionally vomit blood. I lost all my teeth and had to get dentures. My food started to sit in my chest for hours. It was like whatever I ate never went anywhere. I became sick alot. I caught ever single thing that came around. Last year, I woke up one morning and could not move my arm. I had nerve damage that spread to my other arm and my leg. My hair started to turn white. I am 41. I became clinically malnourished. Stomach surgeon found a stricture, by scope. He said because I mas so malnourished, he could not do a sleeve or bypass. 8 days ago, they removed part of a mesh band that was completely covering the entrance into my intestine. I had a bleeding vessel in there, lesions, he said my stomach was nothing but blood and scar tissue. I was just as painful as the first stapling 13 years ago.
Now 8 days later, I find I can drink an entire bottle of water. I have not done that for years. I didn't drink it all at once mind you, but it was amazing to swallow and feel it go down. My pouch he said was small, hadn't stretched it. He removed part of the band but couldn't remove it all because of the scarring. A part of my stomach had actually grew scar tissue so that it was attached to my liver and they had to repair that.
After surgery, I got a spleenic infarction, they said caused by the intensive repairs they had to eat.
I was told soft food for 6 weeks, but I never knew how to eat properly for years. I don't even know if I
know what if feels like to be comfortably full, if that makes sense. Has anyone had problems from and old stapling and might know what it is I'm going thru...gone thru?? 8 days post I tried eating some
watermelon slowly. I got the most incredible pain, like my chest was going to burst. Anyone help?
