@cookiecody - Yes!!!! The weight loss has slowed considerably; more so in the past month than before, even though I'm following the rules I've been reassessing everything I'm doing to see if I'm falling short somewhere. Hopefully in the next week or 3 I see another small chunk lost.
-
@jane13 - My hair loss was all over my head, especially just above the temples, so most folks have not noticed the hair loss like I have, and my husband and hairdresser. You may not need the hat, but some good hair product to help with volume might help.

For the past few weeks, I've had a hankering for a peanut butter cup, and have managed to resist buying any every time I've gone shopping. The combination of peanut butter and chocolate is a favorite even though I'm not a choco-holic. Recently I've learned about PB2 powder and have found a recipe on Unjury that just might satisfy this craving and still have more protein and good stuff than bad stuff. I just ordered some PB2 to try. Will let you know how the peanut butter cups turn out.

Getting back into my eating and exercise routine after being on vacation for 2.5 weeks, with most of it out of town. Happy to say I did NOT gain weight!! YAY!!

Yep! The plan is already in place. We will be splitting meals and I am taking protein bars and good high protein snacks. We already had that conversation about not being able to take the leftovers so sharing is the way to go! I am actually looking forward to this. It helps the peace of mind to already know what I will be doing.

A1C is now at 5.3 -- down from 5.7 from 4 months ago. YeeHaw!!! Had a visit with PCP on Friday. The only not so positive thing is now I have to start taking a statin.

Never EVER have I intentionally put a pair of 100% cotton slacks in a HOT dryer....until this morning. And I did so with confidence knowing that however much they might shrink, I would still be able to wear them to work today. I typically do not buy anything 100% cotton because of the shrink factor, but this pair of slacks was such a great buy I took the leap knowing I would not be wearing them for very long. In fact, I even bought the next size down, but am not quick in those yet. These slacks have gotten a little large on me, but are still quite wearable. Imagine my joy when I put them on after drying in the hot dryer and they fit loosely

So wonderful! I do that with t-shirts, but find they shrink too much in the length, thus making my belly a true spectacle!!!! Sometimes I save the things that are too big now for the winter. Like pants; I then can put my long underwear underneath, and they fit better AND keep me warm....DID I JUST SAY WINTER????? I AM OUT OF MY MIND!!!!!! HELP!!!!!!!!!

Whatever zip I had in my doodah earlier today has got up and went......

Creeping, creeping, creeping toward Onederland......an average of a quarter pound per week.......so slow.....working on patience....will eventually get there and to my goal. Just wish it was more like a half pound a week average.

@Djmohr -- I feel your frustration and agree---a break would be nice....to show a loss without creeping back up even just a little.

I don't ever remember a time in my life when you could consider my legs skinny. But in the past week, 3 different co-workers have commented on how skinny my legs are now. Guess all that leg press and elliptical work is paying off (smile).

Struggling with head hunger periodically and stress eating at work today...... Working my plan and trying not to eat everything around me. Head hunger is worse in the evenings after supper.

@Stevehud - I love the daily posts on Beck Diet Solution's website. The medical doctor in the group where I had my surgery strongly recommended this book when I met with him prior to committing to surgery. I borrowed the book from the library and looked it over, but didn't read it. I found that the daily posts still help with changing the way I think about food and my relationship to it.

Why am I so hungry this morning?? Ever have one of those days where no matter what you eat, even high protein options, you just can't get the gnawing stomach hunger to quit? It's barely 10am and I've consumed about half my calories and almost half my protein for the day. And I've been drinking my water.

I just tried Torani's SF Black Cherry flavoring in my vanilla protein (Unjury) shake, and it was SOOOOO Gooooood!!!! Black cherries are one of my favorite fruits and I love having this SF flavor option to help expand the variety of my protein shakes. #Torani

I've been using the SF Vanilla and SF Caramel in my morning coffee, along with hazelnut creamer, for a few years now. I love my "sissy" coffee!! (No, I don't do full decaf -- just a blend of decaf and regular which my sleeve tolerates very well.) Next, I'm going to try the SF Raspberry flavor which is waiting in my kitchen unopened......

April 29, 2015 - Wednesday Sabotage -- Sabotaging Thought: When I’m dieting, if the scale doesn’t go down every day/week it means it’s not working. Response: It doesn’t work that way. When dieting, I’ll always have weeks when the scale goes down, weeks when the scale stays the same, and weeks when the scale goes up. Just because the scale doesn’t go down one day/week doesn’t mean I’m not on track and it doesn’t mean it’s not working. Keep doing what I’m doing and the scale will go down again. I can empathize with you, CanyonBaby. My scale is always fluctuating up and down throughout the week, or two, or three, and it gets very frustrating. I keep telling myself to just keep doing what I know I'm supposed to do and the scale will work itself out. I also know changes are taking place despite what the scale says because my clothes keeping getting bigger and bigger. Had to buy a new pair of shoes last night Also found 3 new tops for work....... A little shopping therapy was good for the soul. Hang in there!! You're doing great despite what the scale is telling you!!
-
2 great words: Bigger and Bigger (your clothes, I mean!!!)! And you can't go wrong with new shoes! I tried on a top in my closet that was too small last week, and today it seemed to hang on me. WHAT?! Can't figure that one out! But I'll take it! Great job on your weight loss (in spite of the scales!!!)!
-
Woohoo!!! 8 more lbs. until ONEDERLAND!!!
-
Enjoying my new strength & cardio routine, but not the increased weight on the scale. I know why that happens when doing strength training so I'm trying to not let it affect my psyche. NSV - Toning muscle and losing inches!! Yeehaw!!

Thanks for the encouragement, ladies! @CanyonBaby, @ShrinkingPeach, @Djmohr -- I felt like I needed to ramp up what I had been doing at the gym so I met with a trainer a week ago last Thursday. The routine is a bit more intense, but very doable for me despite my normal chronic pain and limitations. Good thing I like exercising - grins......

What a great boost yesterday when my oldest bonus daughter told me she had watched me as I walked around in the hospital cafeteria yesterday (where we were having lunch) and said I was "really looking fantastic!" What a blessing and an encouragement!! And before we went to lunch, while we were in my son-in-law's room (he's the patient), my 6 year old grandson said he could tell I had lost a lot of weight (big smile!). This wasn't the first time either. Both made my day!!!
-
Wow! Has it been a year already???
-
Just ate 3 oz. of beef jerky - partly a late breakfast, partly stress. It's been a crazy, busy morning! Now to just breath........
-
@roundisashape -- Thanks! 5p will be here before I know it. I'm in Charlotte, NC.
Walked (25 mins.) off some of the stress during part of my lunch break; read my book the other half of my break. Had a small, healthy lunch and made me some iced tea to drink for the afternoon. Things are improving. Most days aren't like this, thank goodness!

March 31, 2015 - Tuesday Reality Check -- It's important to not undermine your commitment to weight loss by telling yourself, “Maybe I don’t really need/want to lose weight,” or “Maybe I don’t actually have to do these things.” If you do, you will have a much, much harder time getting yourself to just do what you need to do. From Beck Daily Diet Solutions - http://www.beckdietsolution.com/daily-diet-solutions/

@blondebomb - Glad you liked the post. I've found the Beck Daily Diet Solutions so on target with the psychological aspects of dieting/weight loss. A medical doctor recommended the book, The Beck Diet Solution, to me over a year ago - it's more than just about the food (available at the public library). Let's face it, we all know what we're supposed to do about the food, but oftentimes it is the mindset that keeps us from achieving our goals to be healthier and to lose weight.

when I got to the root of my emotional eating I realized I had to "change" my internal dialogue and negative habit. it took yrs of phsychotherapy for me then I had the light bulb moment! everything made sense to me and I fought back and never stopped. I was determined to make this work and its taken yrs of seeking professional help along with me doing MY part and I am on cloud 9!!

I do well with my meal plan most days, but then there are times when I eat just a bite or two too many and wish I could undo what I just did. Now is one of those times -- a few too many cashews. I know the misery will pass, but until then......Yuck!
-
@CanyonBaby ...... yes, they were salted cashews. I, too, am a salt-aholic, always have been. And it is the salty-crunchy stuff that calls my name, esp. the beef jerky. I'm working on saying "NO" to those things that I've not planned into my day. Let's face it, besides the additional calories, carbs, etc., the additional salt isn't helping with the water retention issue.

Put on a bathing suit for the first time this season today just to wear while working in the back yard. It sure was a lot easier today than the last time I put one on.
-
@GingerSnaps - I agree! I just love being outside in the sun putzing in the yard or just sitting and reading a good book. My girls didn't fill their cups like they did last year, but that's okay - I just need a more appropriately sized swimsuit for a better fit. Last year's model sufficed for yesterday's activities.

Wearing WHITE slacks today for work.....with a very colorful jacket and orange shell underneath. And feeling great about my NEW outfit!! I love colorful clothes and am so very tired of always wearing black slacks to work, even tho I pair them with a variety of colorful tops and jackets.. My co-workers and I joke about black slacks being our corporate uniform (we work in Administration at a hospital). It's great getting out of the black rut!!!! Now to on to getting to Onederland!!! So very close......
