  1. Hello there! I am 4 weeks out today. I'm allowed to eat pretty much whatever I want at this point, as long as I chew it really well. I tried to eat some carne asad, though, and it just would not go down. So I have to stay away from really dry things. My HUGE frustration is this ridiculous stall. I lost 12 pounds the first week.... and I haven't lost anything since. My energy is decent, though. I walk, walk, walk. I eat maybe 800 calories a day and get in all my Protein. So I am having a really hard time understanding the stall.

Oh, and I wasn't hungry until this week. Now all of a sudden at 3-4 hours I get hungry. Thankfully it doesn't take much to make me full.

  3. I asked a nurse at the surgeon's office over the phone if I should take out my Nuvaring, and she told me yes just because birth control causes higher chances of blood clots. Then I called my prescribing doctor, as directed by the office, and he said not to worry about it since I will be up and moving right away and I don't want to be on my period during surgery not knowing what my body will do after going off of birth control.

What was your experience with this?

  4. I will try to ask for xanax, but in my experience I can never get anxiety medications. They're so stingy! My surgeon doesn't do a leak test the day after, he does it during the surgery then watches the color of the Fluid. I'm not afraid of the pain, I'm just extremely squeemish. Everything grosses me out, makes me faint or want to vomit.

  5. Before the surgery I couldn't wait for it! Then during the pre-op I lost 17 lbs on my own (low carb diet) and I actually had a second thought about the surgery.

Plus I had to stay 1 night alone at the hospital the night before, I was kind of freeked out. Then in the morning I was alsoo alone when the nurse came for me they dropped some kind of anti anxiety under my tongue before brining me to the OR. So while waiting in the waiting room I was like getting high on the drung, I was actually singing the whole time and then fell asleep.

The worst part was when I woke up in the ICU, 5 tubes all over my body. After I saw my husband briefly (I was pretty much on anesthesia) I felt naussea so I pushed myself to sleep then the med team came to check on me every 3 hours, each time they injected insulin, take the blood preasure, inject medicine, check my blood sugar, my temperature. It's been 4 days like this until I kept woke up every 3 hours for more than a week later. 2 days later my psychiatrice came to visit me I actually told him that "You know maybe I made the wrong decision about this" but he didn't take it seriously (he cleared me for the surgery) he said, Oh, don't be silly, you're on anesthesia and pain killer, you'll be fine, it will change your life, you'll see.

I stuck in bed for 4 days, the pain's actually gone on day 3 but I sill felt uncomfortable because of the tubes. I told myself, it's goning to be better tomorrow and tried to sleep early every night.

Now I fall asleep at 11 pm and wake up at 6 am to embrace the new me everyday. And I think it's one of the best decisions I've ever made.

    Why were you in ICU?

  6. So I'm reading a lot about insurance not covering the total cost of surgery. My evidence of coverage only states $100 per admittance copay for inpatient. Does that mean that's all I'm going to have to pay? Or am I going to get stuck with thousands of dollars owed? No one has told me about any costs, and I'm already approved and scheduled!

  7. They notified me once they had my final clearance for submission. I notified them today when I called my insurance company and they told me I was approved. I was submitted Thursday afternoon and found out I was approved today. So now I'm just waiting for a call from my surgeon's office to schedule.

What insurance do you have that approved you so fast?

My package was submitted Thursday, too.

  8. My Nut is making me do the "preparing for bariatric surgery diet. Which I basically following the guidelines for how to eat after surgery. The taking 30 min to eat anything and no drinking while eating and eating the recommended portions sizes and I just feel so hungry throughout the day. I know it's only to help me prepare but it's making me want to ready everything I see. Itv take alot of my will power not to stuff my face and that's really hard. Just want to know if I'm alone in this or are some of you guys hungry to?

Wow, to me that seems a bit ridiculous. I was just told to eat how I'll eat after surgery, but normal portions.

  9. Hi All! My package was just submitted to insurance Tuesday, July 22nd for approval. Right now the surgeon is scheduling for August, but I requested September because of work conflicts. As long as there are no hiccups with the approval, I'll be joining the ranks of September Sleevers! I really doubt I will get denied. I have Anthem Blue Cross California, which only requires BMI over 40 without comorbidities, attempts at prior weight loss, and a psych evail, which I pass for all of those. I'm dying to get my approval so I can start this journey!

I started my appointments April 17th with my PCP, who told me I had to do 6 months of classes. I started my classes then randomly got the referral to my surgeon. I went in for my consultation on June 30th, and their coordinator said I don't need the classes. Oy vey! Just goes to show no one knows what they're doing.
