    How long...

I had sex 2 weeks post op and it was great. But I was not in any pain and had lots of energy. Choose a position where you are doing none of the work .

    I want to give up

Cauliflower mash is really very good. I also made a few soups and puréed them. I put the majority of what I made in small Pyrex dishes and froze them. I go back to work next week and wanted easy grown up choices to heat up at lunch time. I also bought cans of turkey no bean chili, tuna, white meat chicken, stew, and fat free retried beans.
  3. 3 yrs post op for sex? I barely lasted two weeks

    How much protein/sugar to eat

@@BLERDgirl Its per portion of food and/or my food choices. So I cannot eat more than 3/4 cup in one sitting, according to nutritionist that 3/4 cup must fall within the guidelines I mentioned. Same with making healthy choices at the grocery store or restaraunt (I.e choosing Dannon carb control is a better choice than yo plait light). Hope this makes sense

    How much protein/sugar to eat

My nutritionist recommends less than 15g carbs, less than 5g fat, and less than 5 g of sugar. I try to follow this but also keep in mind that if you'd like to eat something that falls outside of this range just limit the portion size to 1/2 or 1/4 till it meets the guidelines.

    What's really going on here

@@athena3127 Are you using an app like My Fitness Pal to keep track of your protein intake? You should try to get between 60-70 grams a day. I felt pretty crappy when my protein wasn't as it should be. Also, I learned that my body does not like aspartame . My weight loss would stall and sometimes increase by a couple of pounds if I drank too many flavored waters. Regarding the crackers...they are really not good for you even in small quantities. I read somewhere that someone tried jicama instead for the crunch factor. Just need to make sure to chew it up at least 25 times. Hope this helps and you feel better soon.

    Pre-op liquid diet

Totally normal as your body flushes out toxins. It will get better
  9. While I like to think my program is just super conservative because they care about their patients....some of it has to do with how well my program compares to other military programs. They are very proud of the fact that their patients' average 30 pounds lost during PreOp and the high percentages of patients who have exceeded the national average of weight loss patients after surgery. These stats most definitely helps when budget time rolls around. Not to mention...bragging rights and dr's ego.
  10. I use Unjury and while I do not like the smell...I can't taste it. I just hold my breath when mixing it into my soups and yogurt.
  11. @@uni2424 I do not have a thyroid due to papillary cancer. So I am definitely Hypo. I lost 60 pounds prior to getting the sleeve on 12/16. I've lost another 14 with the sleeve. It is very possible to lose weight with hypothyroidism. Just need to make sure you are being followed by an endocrinologist, get blood work done periodically, have your meds adjusted and take your meds correctly. I lost the 60 pounds by eating a less than 1200 calorie diet and exercising on a regular basis. My weight loss was a little slow and had frequent stalls...you just have to be committed to changing your lifestyle.
  12. Well there are two kinds, Shanghai (fried) and Sariwa (fresh). My family loves the fried ones. I will have to modify the recipe for myself next year, and make the fresh ones. Can your shrimp recipe work for Bariatrics?

    Tricare humana

Gastric sleeve is covered on a military base. I just had it 12/16. My base also covers gastric bypass. The surgeons/program will not do lap band, but will do conversions. Also all nutrition, psych, follow up care, etc. are also covered on the military base.
  14. . I was so new Pre Op that I wasn't able to eat anything I made.
  15. We do the same thing. My kids favorites are lumpia and tamales
  16. Let them know as soon as you get there how anxious and nervous you are. They will give you a lovely "cocktail" and you will definitely stop caring.
  17. Yes, slow down and allow yourself to burp after each sip. I sometimes put my hands on top of my head and walk a little bit, then that feeling goes away. I'm 16 days out and I rarely get that feeling anymore.

  19. Thought my surgeons were conservative. But just imagine how you will look if you did follow your surgeon's requirements!

    To do!

When you get to the puréed stage post op, make a few soups, then purée and freeze them in 2-4 ounce portions. Much cheaper than buying baby food....

  22. Happy New Year Everyone!! I have a question. How soon can I do the elliptical? My surgery was 12/16, I'm already walking 3 miles a day. I worked out a lot prior to surgery...and I'm seriously itching to resume my workouts. My follow up isn't until 1/9...sigh.

    Elliptical? Few weeks out..

    Postop Day 17

Had surgery on Dec. 16th, and began eating puréed on the 14th day. I started with just 2 ounces...after it took me 3 hours to get up the courage. It took me 30 minutes and I didn't experience any problems. Yesterday I added an additional ounce and still no problem. But, I also make sure not to drink 30 minutes before or after, and I take 30 minutes to eat. I am sure I can eat 4 ounces but I'm not sure if I should.
