  1. Just wondering why, at this crucial stage of healing, are you bothering with so many things with no nutritional value? Hopefully all the Jello, popscicles, ice cream and fudgsicles are just treats for after you've already gotten in all of your Water, Protein and Vitamins.

If your tummy can tolerate it, V8 is another thing I drank to help with nutrients at that stage. And there are a lot of good healthy liquid ideas in the food and nutrition subforum on here.

Having SF Popsicles, Jello, crystal lite is what I was told to eat/drink to get my fluids in. Nutritional value or not, I would be severely dehydrated without them.

  2. Hi Jenn!

I am both excited and nervous, but mostly ready for this to be over!! I really like Dr. Moazzez, too. He let me do a 1 week pre-op diet instead of the normal 2 week, because I can't stand the taste of the Protein shakes! Plus, he told me to get whatever kind I can drink, although this was after I paid for the stuff they make you buy at the office! Oh well. I'm just glad I am not having to drink it!! I hope you like it when it's your time to start.

I will let you know how all goes once I get home! Thanks for thinking about me!! See you on the other side!!!!! :D

Hi Becca I can't believe you're only days away from your surgery. How are you doing? Are you getting nervous are you excited? Just touching base to stay in touch. Good luck on the 21st. I loved Dr moazzez when I met him.... You're in great hands. Let me know how the hospital is once you're finished your surgery and feel a little up to it. Curious how your experience while in the hospital goes. Talk to you later

  3. The first day of the pre-op diet yesterday was a little tough. Today is already a lot easier. I think the evenings will be the worst (the snacking hour). I have to say, I think I can definitely do this :)

I'm glad you are able to tolerate the shakes and stuff so well. I felt sick to my stomach all day yesterday because the shakes are just too sweet for me - and the Soup UGH!! I choked down a shake this morning, but I also saw the surgeon today and I told him how bad yesterday was. He told me I could do just one week instead of two - so I got a reprieve! I'm going to have to try some other shakes next week or I'm not going to make it.

  4. Oh boy. Started the 2 week diet today. 4 shakes, 1 Soup, 1 bar. I want food already hahaha. Ugh. I'm sure it will get easier. It's just a little odd right now to not have almost any chewable food.< /p>

Krimrod: I have the same exact diet and I started mine today, too. I've only had 2 shakes so far...don't like them, but trying to choke them down. Will be trying the soup in just a little bit. The bar wasn't too bad.

    Best of luck to you!!!

  5. My surgery is scheduled for Oct 21st. I start my 2 week pre-op diet tomorrow and also have my final meeting with the surgeon and dietician. Getting super nervous. I just want it over and done with.

My surgery is 10/21, too! I'm starting the liquid diet tomorrow as well. Best of luck to you and I'll be thinking of you as I'm being rolled into surgery!! ????

  6. I've done my EGD, gall bladder ultrasound, bloodwork, etc... and I have pre-op and dietician visit on October 3. I'm scheduled for surgery on October 10. I'm considering asking the surgeon if he'll remove my gall bladder also while he's in there. It's private pay so there's no insurance hassles on it. I've heard and read nightmare stories about gall bladder attacks and gall stones after the surgery so if I can prevent it, I'd like to. Anyone have the same idea or thoughts on the gall bladder removal?

I already had my gallbladder removed several years ago so it's not an issue for me, but from what I have read...I think I would see about having it removed during the WLS.
