    Secret Surgery

@@snowy's mom According to the LAW, your boss is prohibited from discussing your medical business. Your coworkers are also in big trouble by even discussing the subject without your permission. You should never feel uncomfortable about this decision. This is harassment.
  3. Sorry I didn't mean to insinuate all horror stories are bull. I should have clarified- What I meant to say was.. The stories about someone's sisters 4th cousins uncle who had a hard time, or the ones about those who are no compliant and don't know why they feel bad... Legitimate problems exist unfortunately, and I do feel bad for those people. They need support most of all. I do know some drama queens though, so....

    Secret Surgery

I had a friend who had a sleeve and had huge complications. But... She is an attention seeker too. She Didn't call her dr when she had problems. She didn't stick to her diet correctly, and made it into abHUGE drama. So when I mentioned I was thinking about it, my friends all said " I wouldn't recommend it" ( based on ......?? Your experience?) or " look what happened to B***" or " I bet I could get that weight off you" and oh you don't look that bad. Well, as my blood pressure climbed, my cholesterol soared, my blood sugar skyrocketed, I said " I don't want to die like my mother!" I told a few people but after a while just said I was having hernia surgery. Afterwords they all found out because I had to go to ER ( I used to work there) My boss said oh are you having the same troubles as ****? Um...... NO So at this point if anyone says anything I'll just smile and say " thanks for your opinion"
  5. Hi everyone! I'm a 7/22 sleeved too! Loving the stories.... Was worried about stuff but it's all exactly like everyone else!!! So glad to be here!!
  6. I was sleeved July 22, took no pain meds after day 3, and have had only one problem- I thought I could walk farther than I should, and got super dehydrated. ( my bad) ER fixed me up with a couple if liters of fluid and I'll be more careful!! Everything is great so far!! After hearing so many horror stories ( which I thought was bull to start with) I'm so happy to be problem free! Good luck to all!!
  7. Be careful with OTC vitamins. They often contain a lot if sugar which is bad for the new tummy, and often don't contain enough of what you need. Im taking Celebrate multivitamin with iron twice a day, and Celebrate Calcium plus D 4 times a day. They must also be spaced out and you can't tKe the calcium and iron together. Iron, zinc and protein are all involved in hair loss, and I don't wan to go there!!! So I take em !!
  8. I decided I didn't want to die like my mother. My brother sleeved one year ago and he is my best inspiration! Now to get the other brother on board....
  9. I have a hard time getting protein too. I can barely get in 40g. I decided to just work on that as best I can. I add protein to everything. It's gross sometimes but I know that soon I will be concentrating on protein FOOD. I have added an egg to my chicken soup ( makes egg drop soup) and have been able to eat some shredded chicken ( in broth or gravy) and tuna. I also bought protein water... Kills two birds with one stone!

    17 days out

Talk to doc.... But remember it's NORMAL to have emotional issues .... So much is happening to you. I too am somewhat depressed, and I'm so glad you have us to talk to. I see a psychiatrist regularly and she is monitoring me closely. So much can change with meds and weight loss. Just remember you did this for YOU. And you have understanding friends here !!

    Please Share Post-Op Diet

I like muscle milk, and Atkins . I did soup, and added protein to them all. Just make sure to dissolve the protein first and do not add while it's hot. I made sugar free cooked pudding, and it's wonderful!! You cannot taste the protein. I used Unjury. I also got protein water at bariatric eating.. It's not bad. My staple is instant real potato with boullion or gravy. You can thin it out and it satisfied my need for something savory.

    Liver shrinkage

I did Optifast for 10 days before my surgery. I switched up the bars for nighttime because that's when I had cravings. I added broth to the soup, drank lots if sugar free drinks. I blended my shakes with ice, so they were like a frosty. If you don't cheat and stay AWAY from extra carbs you won't be hungry. KEEP THAT GOAL IN MIND!! don't give up, you have so much to gain by losing!!
  13. Also, I'm not rushing things.... Learning to eat slowly is very tough. The last two days have been bad.... Depressed, lots of pain on the left side( they say this is normal) a little constipated and I'm getting dehydrated. Already had to go to ER for fluids LAST week... Can't seem to get it all in!! So I'm going to stick with soups and my mashed taters and gravy.
  14. I tried something yesterday that was wonderful! I made chicken broth added a little boullion, bring it to a boil then quickly whisked in an egg. Makes great egg drop soup and u get soothing protein, no gas.
  15. Hi sleeve buddies- had my surgery 7/22. Pre -op was Optifast... I learned quickly how to make it more appealing- adding a little chicken broth, making "Frosty's" by adding ice and blending, saving my bars tip nighttime when i had cravings.. I started at 213, BMI 37.8, with hypertension, hight cholesterol, high blood sugar...o the 22nd I was 200, and now post surg am 189!!! Protein tough to get all in, but keep trying. Learning to eat slowly is challenging, but my tummy tells me soon enough. I have trouble determining when Im full. Then it hits me! I fid comfort in my instant mashed potatoes with a little gravy, and Sugar Free chocolate cooked pudding. I add protein slowly and NOT when its hot. I have used "Unjury powder, and its ok as long as I pre dissolve it.
