  1. I have United Health Care for the mean time until May 31st and it covers for Lap-Band. But starting June 1st i have BCBS of TX. So Does BCBS of TX does Cover for Lap-Band Surgery?

All plans are different and just because they offer coverage doesn't mean your employer won't have an exclusion for it in their policy. The best way to find out is to contact your HR and see if they have a copy of the new policy and if not, call BCBS. Good luck!

  2. This site is pretty user friendly if you aren't one to be afraid to click and see what happens.LOL And the amount of knowledge and support you can get is just overwhelming!

Usually, it's the insurance part that causes the most waiting. They have the hoops they want you to jump through, then they want to take their time getting back to you with approval! Just hang in there and it will all be over before you know it! Good luck and look forward to sharing your journey.

  3. YAY kathy I am excited for you!!

Know u have been waiting on that!!

now u have an official countdown

    Gratz

Thankg, Huggie Bear! I am so excited! Finally got to add a countdown ticker to my signature! :wink2:

  4. Congratulations on taking that first step towards better health. There is a load of information here, look around and learn all you can. If you have nay questions you can't find the answer to, please feel free to post them!

Your possible weight loss between now and September would depend on a lot of factors such as pre-op diet requirements, exercise program, and your body's natural rate of weight loss.

  5. I'm going along with IndioGirl on this one - I think in this one of those cases where PC comes into play. The men may simply be afraid of how you (or others) would take it if they were overheard saying something. Some people are very sensitive about possible sexual harassment issues and there are women in this great PC society of ours who would find any such comment offensive. Personally, I will eat up ANY compliment, from men or women. NOTICE ME!!!! TELL ME I'M LOSING WEIGHT AND LOOKING GOOD!!!! :wink2:

  6. Well everyone I got good and bad news the good news is I completed everything except my heart clearence I went to South Carolina heart center and seen Dr. Grainger he did a EKG and he told me I had some adnormality on the test and wants me to have a stress test done before I get a clearence.:wink2: So everyone please pray for me !!!!! LORD GOD I hope nothing is wrong. I go tomorrow to get my stress test done and I will keep every one posted on the results. And if everything is good I will go to the next step and consult with the Dr. and then get my surgery date :hand:

Hi Jason! How did the stress test go today? Hope everything moves through quickly and easily for you, with no complications. Keep us posted and good luck!

  7. Hi and welcome to LBT! Being comfortable with your surgeon is very important in this process. You were wise not to compromise on that point just to make your PCP happy. The waiting is the hardest part of the whole process. Check the USA support threads, they are broken down by states and there are LOADS of other Texans floating around here. Good luck and keep us posted on your progress!

  8. Thanks for the post. I have not been banded yet and although my husband has said that he wants whatever I want I know that he is having problems with the idea. The first time we discussed it he said that we have such a perfect life that he hated to see it change. When I ask him what he meant, he said we will never be able to go out for a wine and candle lit dinner. I told him that I did not think that was true I would have to just drink and eat less. Even tho I do believe what I told him the thought still sticks in my mind and I wonder if that is true. What is it like after 3 or 4 years? Any thoughts you can share or places I can look to help understand long term life with the band?

My husband was less than receptive of the idea of me getting a band at first too, for basically the same reasons you have expressed. I tried to explain to him that it isn't like that with the band, but he didn't really get it until he went to an appointment with me and heard it straight from the PA. He has also realized that by my being more healthy, we will be able to engage in activities other than eating to spend time together because I will be able to do more physically and won't get tired so fast. Remember, you are doing this for yourself, not your DH. Good luck and I hope things go well for you!
