vsgjourney got a reaction from nunya-got-sleeved in Louisiana Sleevers?
Hey all, i was sleeved 7/22/14 by Dr. Lavin. All is well so far. I was hoping to see him at my 1 week post op appt but after reading the blog, I doubt ill be seeing him again through out this process. If i would not have met him that one time, I would think he is a phantom Dr. Lol.

I am looking forward to fitting in chairs and not having to call ahead to see if places have adequate seating. I am also looking forward to the positive change in my sex life, the increase in mobility, going to theatres to see plays/shows (before I could not fit in the seats), being able to cross my legs, being able to dance, having room in my driver side area (now the seat belt is so uncomfortable and my belly touches the seering wheel), running, people not starring at me, not being the big girl when I go out with friends, and simply being able to fit in (chothes, cars, airplanes, crowded places, desks, and the environment as a whole). My surgery is scheduled for July 22, 2014......This will be the day that my life changes forever. I am determined to accomplish all of these NSVs.

Incorporating dannon light and fit greek and protien shakes have made my stomach so upset. To the point that i cant get my Water in bc my stomach is upset all day. Im just gonna wait til week 3 to incorporate protien.

I was sleeved on 7/22 and so far i only threw up once in the hospital after drinking liquid pain med. They switched to pill form and ive been fine. I too get gas after eating/drinking anything. Im still on clear liquids but I have my 1 week post op appt on the 29th. Im hoping i could add something else to my diet. Im so tired of sf Jello, popsicles, broth and Water. Also my pre op diet consisted of 2 protien shakes, 2 protien bars and 2 lean cuisines (under 300 cal each). I was on clear liquids the day before surg and nothing after midnight the day of surg.

Try using protien treatments in ur hair. I used them before surgery so im sure i will need them after surgery. Aphogee makes a good one........not trying to be offensive but i dont know how well it works on white peoples hair since im black and all.

Yea i feel ur pain. I was sleeved on 7/22 and my stomach hurts most of the time. I cannot tell the difference between gas pain and hunger pain. I can tell you this tho, i have no regrets. I cried this morning realizing that Im 3 days post op and have not been hungry at all. They were happy tears bc im finally free. Im not hungry all the time and i can actually eat to live now. I do believe that it will get better. And should u be drinking protien shakes rt now. I dont move to those until week 2. Im still on chicken broth, popsicles, sf Jello, and Water.< /p>

vsgjourney got a reaction from BeagleLover in Today is the big day!
I have to report to the hospital at 9am. Im not really nervous at all. Although i almost cried today as i realized my relationship with food is about to change for the long haul. I was on Clear Liquids all day so it seemed like so many food commercials came on.....ok so I did get teary eyed. I believe whatever this is that im feeling is a natural feeling that comes with life changes and i am absolutely ready for the change........it just hurts a little. Oh and i purchased the book Beyond the Refridgerator per someones recommendation on bp. I will start reading when i leave the hospital. Wish me luck folks!!!

I paid about $15,000 in louisiana. $13,600 for the actual procedure, the rest was paid while doing pre op test like sleep studies and EKGs and stuff.....u know. Some was spent on the Rx, over the counter meds, and vitimins. This stuff was expensive to me. Even the protien shakes for pre op hit my pocket. Just be prepared to have about at least $500 on top of what the procedure itself costs.

vsgjourney got a reaction from V.V.V. in Im 450lbs
Hello all, I am new to this site and wanted to know if there was anyone who started at 450 + lbs and was able to achieve long term success? I am a 33 yr old female and my VSG is scheduled for July 22, 2014 with Dr. Thomas Lavin (The Surgical Specialist of Louisiana) and the surgery will take place at Crescent City Surgical Center. I am not nervous at all about the procedure. However I am concerned about maintaining weight loss. Whenever I have lost weight in the past, it has been easy for the weight to come off ( was able to lose 100lbs). But months later it comes back double. At 450lbs I don't want to say that I am healthy, but I only take 1 Rx for hypertension. I am hoping to get rid of this Rx post surgery. I am just so worried that I will lose lots of weight and years later gain it all back. Does anyone else have this concern at the magnitude that it bothers me?
