  1. Have you ruled out physical reasons? If my tummy is acidy I want to graze. Are you drinking and eating per your surgeon's schedule?

That is a very good question... I have been had some problems eating. Nothing seems to be satisfying. By the time I enjoy what I'm eating it is time to stop. It has to be stress. I am going to call my dietician tomorrow.

  2. I pureed 2oz of roast beef with beef bullion. It was not good at all. I ate it any way I became nauseated. I was dreading dinner but it came anyway. I had grilled chicken in low sodium chicken bullion. The first bit and there was no way that was going down. I put that down the disposal. It then accrued to me why mix it with anything other than Water. I then did that that. It was good but I ate to fast and it took 2hrs to pass. I found this app called Eat Slower and tried that with sugar-free Jello and I was able to eat. I can't wait to try the app tomorrow. One minute and thirty seconds between each bit. My phone vibrates when it is time for me to take another bit. I will use it until I master eating. Love It!!! Any other ideas out there I can try?

  3. I had my convention surgery on Monday 12/29/14 from band to sleeve. I came out of surgery in serious pain and breathing difficulties. I don't remember any of it. Well I started my monthly the next day. I have been in a lot of pain. I ran out of pain medication and now I am trying Tylenol. Has anyone else experienced this kind of pain?

  4. Statistically that seems to be true, but there are plenty of us who revised and did lose well. I think it depends alot on circumstances and expectations. If you are very near goal and you revise, you will have to fight to get those last pounds off! If you are more like me, and had completely regained/no value from band anymore, I think it is a different story.

I used the knowledge of this risk to think hard about what to do differently and I think that helped. Here is a summary of my stats:

    March 2001: banded at 272

March 2002: lowest weight about 205

late 2003: fill removed due to intolerable reflux and too much vomiting... regaining

June 2005: lifetime highest weight 332#

2006: Lost 85 pounds on weight watchers and spent a number of years weighing in the 240s range

2009-2011: Fluctuating between 270s-310 range - diet after diet....

December 2011: start of preop 308/ surgery day 300#

February 2013: hit goal of 158# (lost 150# in 14 months)

Oct 2013: weighed 150# had plastics

    April 2014: weighed about 140#

    Current (Sept 2014): ranging 140-145#

I will be 3 years out from surgery in just a few months. I have had huge success with the sleeve and very poor with the band. I learned alot from my band experiences and have tried to leverage it!

I hope I have the same results as you.

  5. I had the bypass and I feel the restriction ... I was the person that never felt full and could eat and eat. I always ate so I didn't know what it was like to be hungry . Now I know both... Hungry not so much but at least I can tell when I need to eat and when I'm full

So is measurement of or food what we will need to do for the rest of our lives?

  6. Am a person that always eat until I am full. I have always had the challenge of trying to only eat until I am satisfied. What is that??? Am I suppose to be hungry two hours later after I am satisfied? I also don't get the eating for fuel thing neither. I am a definite addict of food and sure I am starting formal counseling, but I am tired of asking people this they look down at me like I am of less than average intelligence. I really want to know the answer. A life long habit of eating until I am full or just because it is there.

After the Lap-Band I thought it would give me an indication of when to stop eating. Boy did it ever. After throwing up my food after I ate 1ounce of meat. I felt like how can I now be satisfied with that meal. My mind told me I was starving so I started to eat all the wrong things. Seven years later the band was removed and I am now waiting to be approved for the sleeve. A now Sleever said as a formal bander, I have to learn to stop eating. This is what brings me to that word satisfied??? Can anyone help me here.

  7. I am one year out from band to sleeve. I am happy the band is out. It was embedded in my stomach, the had to dig it out. That was after 5 years banded with good restriction. Imaging another 5 years?

The sleeve is a mixed blessing. The first 6 months I lost about 20 lbs. the last 6 months I am just yo-yoing up and down and all around. My surgeon is disappointed. I'm relearning from 5 years of bad habits. Band surgery 255, revision surgery (band to sleeve, one surgery) 203 on surgery day (if I remember right) today 195.

With the band I couldn't eat. I got stuck and vomited. I hated it. With the sleeve I can eat anything and never vomit. And to be honest, there have been many times I wish I could have thrown it up. To get rid of calories, not because of pain.

When I went in for revision I said I want to stop puking and I want to not gain any weight. So really I got what I want. But several month at 183 were awesome. So now I want that too. It's so hard! The band physically stopped me from eating. The sleeve does not.

Do you work out? Do it hurt when you over eat??

  8. I am sorry for the miscommunication. I will have the surgery in 3 months and I am worried about one gaining wait during that time and two not being able to lose 25 pounds for my surgery. I was thinking of using the phentermine pills during the 3 month will I wait for the sleeve surgery. http://www.phentermine.com I think it is the best way to go. I would stop using them once I start my pro-liquid diet... As someone stated before, I am not looking forward to a third surgery with all the scares. I guess I can look into something to put on them?

  9. Now that I have the Lap band off my apatite has returned full force. I don't want to gain additional before I get the sleeve. I was watching Dr. Phil and there was a young lady who had taken Phentermine pills and lost 80 pounds. She started to gain due to not taking the pills. The Doctors stated she was using the the pills recklessly due to she was using them for more than 9 months where it is recommended to be used for only 3 months. http://www.phentermine.com/phentermine-user-pictures/user/52223/album/345/picture/6101 What do you guys think. I have three weeks before my sleeve surgery and I need to loss 25 pounds. I kind of have my mind made up but I want some feedback.
