Cheated postop...concerned
Your tummy was butchered so it's still very swollen. Reintroducing foods is a very sloooow process. Some people need to go slower than others so take your time with the soft foods. Remember Protein and hydration are crucial. Not only will you feel better but it promotes weight loss. You are experiencing the classic 3 week stall. Everyone raise your hand if you experienced it? Lol. I did. I think many many do. I didn't drop anything for about a week. Your tummy is resting and healing. It WILL start dropping again. As always though if you have any questions ask your surgeon/nut. They are the best guide to what is normal and what you should be concerned about. Hang in there! Hope you are feeling better soon

Beach 7 weeks post op?
I'm 8 weeks out and my incisions were healed completely from about 3 weeks. I can't imagine it would be an issue. Go and have fun! I'm in the northeast and its -4 this morning. If you feel you can't do that upcoming beach trip I'll be happy to take your place ????

How old are/were you?
62. Successfully having both my knees replaced convinced me it was not too late to turn things around. So far I've surprised not only my doctors but myself. I feel better now than I have in probably 20 years ☺️

Cheated every day of 7 day pre op diet
Gotta agree with this You have problems now with period mood swings and sweets cravings, and responsibilities that keep you running all day. None of this will change after surgery. Sure, your stomach will be smaller but what you put in it and when becomes critical to your health and long term success. You'll have sweets cravings with your period. How will you deal with that? You're rushing all day. How will you deal with that? Excuses aren't reasons. You have to own the behavior before you can change it. Why were you not able to adhere to your preop diet? What are the challenges you are facing? Most importantly how do you plan to change your behaviors for post op success? My surgeon says "I operated on your stomach, not your brain".

Goal weights? And photos for "shorties?!"
Thanks for sharing your experience ???? I don't see myself doing any plastics and figure I'll just use compression garments underneath when I reach that stage.

Easter's Challenge
Would you please add me to the challenge? Now that I'm 8 weeks out I think I'm ready to join in the fun ????

Goal weights? And photos for "shorties?!"
Congratulations! That's fabulous ???? Do you have much hanging skin? Any idea how many pounds this would account for? I think I'm going to look like a deflated balloon the lower I get. This really is ok with me since my goal is is health not appearance. I'm wondering though how many pounds of "skin" I'll be left with.

Sleep study
Congratulations! I'm hoping that when I've lost enough weight I'll be free from OSA, as well.

Sleep study
I misspoke. You are correct. It is a rent to own agreement which they can stop paying for if you are not compliant. I think mine is at least 4 hours per night. I have heard people say that they knew people in the past who got the CPAP and just never used it. If you are going through insurance that is now no longer possible.

Preoperative diet
Every doctor has their own preference. Mine included 2 protein shakes and one "lean & green" meal. I could also include a salad with fat free dressing. Lost 13 lbs in 2 weeks ????

Goal weights? And photos for "shorties?!"
65% of pre-surgery weight is standard and how my surgeon arrived at 165 as a weight to shoot for. Of course, most people want to lose more. But that is the average. Twice as an adult I got down to 135 but I couldn't maintain it. My objective is really less a particular number on the scale. I'd like to resolve the medical issues I have and find a healthy weight I can maintain. In the end I think my sleeve will let me know where my weight is going to settle. ????

Goal weights? And photos for "shorties?!"
Good things come in small packages ???? On a good day I'm 5'. Like you I've been fat for a very long time. My surgeon didn't give me a goal. I'm 8 weeks out and at my last visit I asked her for her thought on what I should aim for. She said for my height I should be around 110 but at 62 years old that isn't realistic. Based on the average sleeve loss, she felt I could reasonable make 165. Interestingly that is almost exactly what my endocrinologist said. So I'm using 165 as my goal. I can always reassess later. Just being in onderland will be a thrill!

Sleep study
Most insurance companies in the US will not cover the cost of a home test. Also many insurance companies will not pay for the CPAP if it is not being used properly. The machine comes with an SD card which can be read by the doctor and a built in modem so compliance information can be transmitted to the company monitoring my use of the CPAP for the insurance company. They reserve the right to bill you the entire cost if you are not properly utilizing it for over 4 hours every night.

Sleep study
They didn't wake me during my sleep test either but the pulminologist diagnosed me with severe sleep apnea. I had to do a second sleep study with CPAP, a titration study to find out what settings I needed. There are so many masks on the market now. I finally found one that works for me. I feel so much better! Google sleep apnea. It is a very dangerous disease with the potential for severe complications to the heart lungs etc. I fought doing a sleep study for a few years because I didn't think I could get through the sleep study much less using a mask to sleep. But my surgeon required it so I had no choice. In hindsight I realize it was actually a blessing. Diagnosed and properly treated will add years to my life ☺️

Going to the bathroom
An apple ever day. And a good strong cup of coffee LOL. I know not all docs allow. Mine does though and a cup or two in the morning really helps. I've found smooth move tea really great at those times I needed an extra "push" ???? And as others have said Water water water ????????????????????????????!!

Should I go to the ER?
That's a relief! So glad you went and had it checked. Hopefully that is the only bump in the road that you have. Rest up and feel better ☺️
-
Should I go to the ER?
If I'm not sure whether to go to the ER or not, I go. To me in those circumstances it can never be the wrong choice. If it's normal, they can reassure you. If there's a problem though, they will document it and see that you get appropriate treatment. A lump on the arm sounds scary!

What are slider foods?
That's what I was told. They pass through your stomach so quickly that you will overeat since you never feel full. New tummy can't do its job.
-
Coffee
My surgeon allows regular coffee on discharge. I drink it black usually 2 cups in the morning. Never had any issues.

What can I eat @ diner
My go to meal at the diner is a poached egg on toast but that won't work for you. Sometimes I get a tuna sandwich and just eat the inside. Last week I was cleared for salad so I got a small greek salad. It was heavenly ???? My other thought is corned beef hash since it does have Protein. It's fattier and has more carb though. You won't be able to eat all of whatever you choose. I always bring a doggie bag home. Folk at the diner don't think twice about packing up the leftovers. As an aside I live in north jersey where you can't drive a mile without passing a diner. We have our favorites and know the owners, wait staff etc. Needless to say my ordering habits changed drastically after I had sleeve surgery 12/23. I simply said I had stomach surgery. Everyone has been so sweet and supportive! I think diner folk are just the best ☺️

Did You Have Complications After Weight Loss Surgery?
At 62 I sailed through sleeve surgery ☺️ Now if you consider post op constipation as a complication I think the figure will go up to 99% of the people on this forum! ????

Endoscopy - Found Ulcers
Before I had my knees replaced I took Celebrex and other meds daily for pain and inflammation. These are notoriously hard on the stomach. I was placed on Nexium at the same time to prevent ulcers from forming. Worked great! Had a perfectly clear scope before sleeve surgery ???? I would not think the Tylenol would be an issue but the Excedrin could very well be. I guess it would depend on how often your were taking them. Talk to your GI doc.

How long was your hospital stay?
I stayed one night. Had no issues and was more than ready to get home!

Urinary catheter
Yes. I actually didn't mind since I didn't need to worry about making it to the bathroom "in time". I wasn't moving very fast and I have an old lady bladder ????
