Does anyone actually like their protein drink?
@@Kindle Great suggestions! I'm going to try these soon! I just bought the Syntrax nectar Vanilla torte Protein and I love it! Great taste. I do change up the flavoring a bit by adding some SF syrups in different flavors

strange topic...have you?
I think it gets better after your body adjusts. I bought a little tiny bottle of sweet breath and put a few drops on my tongue every now and then.

**Newbie Alert** Not happy
Can you increase your Protein and Water? I try to get in at least 100 grams of protein a day (2 Protein shakes with soy milk account for the bulk of my protein intake) and al least 96 oz. of water. It is hard, I know. It really helps with the weight loss. High protein/low carb. Best of luck!

Upper Arm Flabby Skin
I have the same problem with the back of my arms! They are getting better though. I joined a gym and started going about 5 days a week. Each day I do cardio and weights. Absolutely the best way to tone is with weights, especially free weights. I paid for a few training sessions and, no lie, after 3 sessions I can totally feel and see a difference. Squats, lunges, bench press, tricep extensions, dead lifts, etc will work wonders. You will also burn twice as many calories lifting weights over cardio. Because of the results, I now see the trainer once or twice a week for weight training. It was my little gift to myself. There are some free apps out there for weight training that have pictures and videos to make sure you have the proper form. They might be helpful. Best of luck!

5 months out before and during pics
@@melliegates I eat A LOT of protein! I stick to a low carb/high Protein diet. No bad carbs at all (Pasta, sugar, flour, potatoes, bread, etc.) I am pretty diligent about that. I know that I'll probably get a lot of negative feedback but I don't eat a lot of fruit at this point either, only a few berries here and there. Honestly as soon as I finish with protein there isn't much room for anything else! For the first 3 months or so I really tried to get all of my protein from food. Over the last month though (since joining the gym and working out 5 days a week), I started adding a few Protein shakes a day to get my protein up to about 110 grams a day.

Your Healthy Holiday Weight Loss Surgery Cheat Sheet
Great tips. I hosted a holiday party last week where food and cocktails are the key features. The appetizers I made were a huge hit! I did have to give up my wine.lol I made one cocktail (vodka and Water w/flavoring) last the entire night. Yes, I know cocktails are not recommended the first year, but I don't think one will hurt me. I'll re-read this before the next party!

Exercise & motivation
I had surgery back in July and lost weight like crazy. I really stuck to the plan and did a bit of walking. I have a fitbit flex that I have been wearing religiously since mid September. I do strive for between 7500-10000 steps a day and usually hit that goal. So 3 months post surgery I had lost about 90 lbs. but from month 3 to 4 my weight loss slowed down a bit. To try to avoid a stall, about 1 1/2 months ago I joined a gym and started doing more cardio and weight training. I work out with a trainer 1-2 times a week and feel great. I really look forward to the workouts. When I touch my upper arms or legs I can really feel a difference in how toned they are getting. The funny thing is that since I started working out 4-5 days a week, my weight loss is still pretty slow now, but I'm not worried or stressed at all. The motivation comes from how I feel, and that is a lot better! Something happens when you see and feel the results, it makes me want to do more and more! I also like "checking in" at my fitness center on facebook. I get a lot of positive feedback from friends who know I am changing my lifestyle. lol

Food question
Probably not a problem as long as it is just broth. I would watch the sodium though.

Threw up
I had a real problem with this during for first few months, and actually still do from time to time. If I have something stuck I have to get it back up. The feeling of the stuck food is terrible. It was the same for me, I ate too big a bite of food and the food would not fit through the stoma to enter the stomach. Yes I am "throwing it up" but it never really entered my pouch so it is a little different. For me, I have to get the food back up, it is the only way I feel better. It doesn't happen very often, but it is something I think we will deal with for a long time. Best of luck!

Peanut butter, can anyone recommend a good brand?

Im becoming vain... or maybe I'm just taking care of myself
I bought an unlimited spray tan package and get a tan about twice a week. It looks really good. I also am getting my teeth whitened at the spa too! My motto...If I look better, I feel better! BTW, I feel great!

Quest multi-purpose mix
I went into Vitamin Shoppe today to pick up a few items and found they were now selling Quest Protein powders. I bought a container of the multi-purpose protein mix. Has anyone tried this? If so, does anyone have any good recipes?

So full of post-op questions :) Is it normal not to reach your protein goals 5 days post op?
I agree with @@Kindle on whey isolate Protein supplements, usually about 25-30 grams per serving. During the first few weeks I think it is Water, Vitamins, and protein, in that order. It is really important to stay hydrated. Mix in Greek yogurt and you can up your protein intake. I had to learn to like it, but it is a high protein food.

Exciting!
I know exactly how you feel. I look at pictures from last summer and everything is different. I feel so much better. You hit the nail on the head, it is hard work. I am really proud of the work that I put in over the last 4 1/2 months. You have every right to feel excited. This is a really exciting time!!

Need Suggestions on Where to by Liquid Protein, etc.
I agree with @Elode. Premier Protein shakes are, in my opinion the best tasking - can be purchased at costco. Same with the Quest bars. A good tip is to put in microwave (chocolate chip, cinnamon bun, and chocolate brownie) for about 10 seconds. I stick with protein powders that are whey isolates. Optimum Nutrition and Bodytech (Vitamin Shoppe) are both pretty good. I keep the protein powders to less that 2 grams of carbs and sugar. This has worked pretty good for me. Best of luck!

under 30 days to go.
