yes I asked the surgeon and he said my BMI was not enough to require that hhowever told me not to do a Chinese buffet the day before lol. No problem there, however thinking of doing at least a 4 day liquid with one small meal each day

December 17th..... I start my new life and journey. Who else????

I just got the phone call...... December 17th!!!! So excited surgeon appointment the 1st last NUT and endoscopy the 2nd.... and then surgery the 17th.... in the meantime going down to OC md after endoscopy and file for a marriage license..... could life get better. Looking forward to seeing and talking to others on our journey together..... for the post sleevers please keep us all in your prayers and I know you will be here for our support. My phone call was to see if I would be willing to travel to Harrisburg which is only a hour away... of course..... they are saying if approved eith the 5 or 17 of december

I am from Hagerstown MD and got a phone call from my surgeon yesterday whom left a voice mail...... I was finished on Oct 23 and they said it would take 4-6 weeks for them to submit insurance and schedule. the date would be January/February of 2015 with the surgeon schedule.... HOWEVER I am to call back today and see whats going on. they said the had some surgery openings in Harrisburg PA (1 hour away, their home offices) for DECEMBER. So hoping that means I have been approved. We are getting married in OC on the beach in April so wanted to be able to look and feel awesome for this occasion. I do know of 1 person that has had the surgery and have several patients (I work in a lab) that have had it done. I have not heard one complaint about it. Keep in touch

the only other surgeon is 45 minutes away and they say I would have to start from scratch with them which starts with an hour long seminar and then they schedule an appointment with doctor and it continues again. He will not take what the other office has done. Story of my life unfortunately, just another punch in the gut ( no pun attended) So started my liquid diet today and will continue until the end of the month. Cancelled Thanksgiving dinner. Will sign off this site and hope for the best. I had met my deductible this year and since Obamacare is in effect my deductible has gone up so will be unable to afford the surgery. finished everything October 23 with surgeon. Had to have a pre approval clearance with the PCP. finished and dropped off Oct. 28. Kept calling my Insurance to see if papers had been received. The reply was NO sorry....so called my surgeon3 times before I could get a real person on the phone. Was told today they have 4-6 weeks to submit and get approval back and then wait for the surgeon.... Probably the end of January but more likely February and depending how long the insurance takes the end of February. Started the process with them in June. Insurance required a 3 month diet which got prolonged another month due to an uncooperative co worker.(didn't like who they were putting in my office to cover me) I am to be married in April and wanted so badly to look attractive and to be able to walk down to the wedding (on the beach) without huffing and puffing.... guess that aint gonna happen. About just to give up!!!

Had my last appointment with NUT and surgeon....... needed a pre-certification letter from my PCP to submit to Insurance. Wasn't told this before so had to schedule this appointment. A week ago today I had the appointment PCP is thrilled that I am going to do this step to improve my health. Now comes the icky part...... submitted everything to my surgeon on Tuesday October 28, waited 2 days called the insurance to see if they had received the papers..... No they hadn't yet. So called the surgeons office (which never answers the phone) and asked for them to leave a message as the status of my paperwork (as I work and cannot always answer the phone sometimes with patients).Received a message saying that a few people were ahead of me submitting paperwork as they had finished the program sooner. OK, kudos to them. So thought maybe they would submit all papers on Friday. Called the Insurance on Monday..... still NO papers. Called the surgeons and guess what NO ANSWER. Asked for them to call back and leave a message thinking I may had forgotten something. Now I sit here and no call back , no message, no nothing.!!! Aggravated is saying it mildly. I just want to know if I need something else before submitting papers. GRRRRRRr

haha...... we are also need new scales and have been doing research. mainly reading reviews. Our scales right now are digital and did work well. However the numbers are obscured right now with only a line or 2 showing up.....right now before surgery that is GREAT cause I can't look at that awful number but need one for after. Just told the fiancé to hide it fom me for the first month

For anyone that has Cigna insurance....... how long did it take to get approval???? I am on day two of waiting and just was wondering.

basically they want to know if you have an under lying circumstance as to the reason you are heavy...... Mine was more of the East Indian Psych asking me why did I move away from my parents... (who live only an hour away) I said for employment..... Why do you kids live away from you ( they also live only 1 --1 1/2 hour away in both directions and they are 30,32,34) I said for employment..... What does your parents do for a living.... Dad is a part time security guard at the college.... And your mother??? I said she is 76 mom doesn't work.... What does your children do for a living... Chef at a resort, Respiratory therapist..... correctional officer..... Oh so they all work... Yes and so do I.... I kept thinking to myself why are you worried about my family away from me...... your from An Asian country... why did you move??? All in all wasn't to bad for me. Just answered honestly and didn't elaborate answers

My insurance said I needed medical clearance before they would say yes to the surgery so threw me back a couple of days waiting for a doctor appointment. .... as of today everything at surgeons office ready to send.... excited scared nervous but happy. Ready for the next step

what about the rest of the products that Quest has...... worth it ???? or not so much???

I also have hypothyroidism, and edema from weight. I cannot comment on the POCS as I don't have that problem. My doc says we will chase the thyroid issue as I lose weight the levels will go crazy. I will always have the thyroid issue but hoping the edema goes away as well. there is no just cause for that issue. I hope all goes well for you..... I am hoping for a December date

Ok..... Where can you get like just one of a flavor and try. I am pre op having everything submitted tomorrow (if all goes well) and didn't know that I could eat protein bars afterwords. Please let meknow

Found out my insurance requires a pre op medical clearance before they will approve..... so. threw me back a couple of days however tomorrow is that appointment. Everything will go to insurance tomorrow and already have lab slip for gall bladder ultrasound. EKG is already completed since the doc said within the year was good.

That is awesome.... Mine was 3 months however a co-worker wouldn't work without me in the office for my first so was postponed an additional month. Not to happy about that but now if all goes well should be before Christmas. So excited!!!

I go tomorrow for my final NUT appointment and meet the surgeon. I havent' lost any however I think I will be ok. Mine should be submitted tomorrow to Insurance. YEA!!!

I guess I will find out thursday.... my last surgeon appointment then being submitted
