My Nurse said my Dr don't require a pre op diet before surgery, has anyone else been told that?

I did not have a pre-op diet! Just was required to lose 10 pounds prior to scheduling sugery! I was so thankful!!

yes I asked the surgeon and he said my BMI was not enough to require that hhowever told me not to do a Chinese buffet the day before lol. No problem there, however thinking of doing at least a 4 day liquid with one small meal each day

My surgeon doesn't require a pre-op diet unless your BMI is greater than 50. I didn't have to but I did anyway just because I know your body does better during surgery if you lose weight for morbidly obese patients. I am required to do all clear liquids the day before surgery.
