1. I have regretted it almost everyday since I had it done on the 20th. Between the pain, having issues getting my Protein in, and now becoming lactose intolerant (which ive been told is a rare but possible side effect). Im hoping it gets better but yes right now I really do regret it.

No don't regret it I had a tough recovery for 2 months I was in and out of the hospital for dehydration because I wasn't able to eat or drink . I'm also lactose intolerant now and I wasn't before. But I'm 7 months out now and I went from 326 to 209 and I have 59 more pounds to go. Stay strong you'll get through this.

Get some almond breeze almond milk. I haven't had my surgery but I gave it up about a year ago because it gave me horrendous diarrhea. (Ice cream too:/) almond milk is really good and had good Protein too. I thought of it this way, your drinking another species milk, we usually tolerate it but really is it something we should drink? Especially with all the hormones and stuff we put in it. I'm far from a vegetarian but I really don't like milk anymore.

  2.
Did you eat one of those Fiber One bars? OMG. They taste great, but they tear up my stomach as well.

They used to make me sick even before surgery, but now I stay away from them.

Hope you feel better soon!

It was a Kroger brand one from the health food asile. I can do the fiber one type. These were like the cliff or Luna bars. Thank you I am better.

  3. So there will be multiple answers to this question depending on your comfort level with certain foods. I had the sleeve and the guidelines given to me were : minimum 60 grams of Protein a day, monitor carbs and keep below 50 while you are in a weight loss mode. Fats fall in place if you are following the other guidelines. Increase calories, Protein and carbs as needed to meet the requirements of increased activity and exercise. I use sugar free foods and drinks. I do not add sugar to things I eat. I personally do not have any problem with artificial sweeteners. They are prevalent in a lot of drinks that I consume. The guideline regarding sugar was that any food should not contain more than 12 grams of sugar per serving. I read labels and know what is in the food I eat. I could care less about Desserts or snack foods like chips etc. "fat free" foods are usually a signal for me to avoid them. Good fats are needed by your body to function. I usually get fat in my diet through nuts, Peanut Butter, olive oil or eggs. I do not avoid fatty foods but I am careful not to eat too much of it, such as bacon or sausage. I make sure it fits into my daily requirements. I use My Fitness Pal to track food intake on my phone and that allows me to make adjustments as the day progresses depending on what I have eaten. I think that you will be able to eat most anything you want. As long as it fits your daily intake requirements and you watch the amount of food you eat. There is no reason to be afraid of some of the diet foods, just know what is in them and wether they fit into you lifestyle change.

You summed this answer up like a "professor of sleeve!" Now, I can surely understand and your response made me even more anxious for my VSG date to arrive!

It's funny, I'm pre op and was talking to the Nut and told her the only time I ever lost weight was on adkins(30ish carbs a day) and she specifically said no no no you need at least 100 a day. I'll do the diet they give me for a few months after but I felt better on the low carb diet. I gutted I'll have too see if it holds true after my sleeve.

  4. Omg I ran out of the house this morning not even thinking about eating. So I'm trying to stay on my 1200 pre op diet. I was doing grocery shopping and realized I hadn't eaten anything. So I grabbed a Protein Bar. So I on my way home and realized it was doing bad things to my belly. I have been in there at least 5 times. Guess I need to stick too real food.

  5. Well I ended up having the hernia surgery on Thursday. I'm going home today! Gastric Bypass was a breeze compared to this. This is by far the worst pain I've ever had in my life! Glad it's over and I'm on my way to recovering!

I had it done about a 2 yrs ago. It really is a rough recovery. It's sucks hope your feeling better now

  7. I got a couple of free samples from the NUT at my appointment. The Orange one is pretty tasty. I made it with almond breeze reduced sugar almond milk(I use the unsweetened one before surgery) added a little frozen cherries and fresh rasberries. It was super good.

  8. I have to say that I'm one who received NO instructions. I waited thinking I would be visited by a nut in the hospital but nothing. Before discharge I asked the surgeon about it and he said he didn't use them as it cut into his bottom line. I know what everyone is thinking and I've thought the same thoughts but I can say I was so desperate to have the surgery and he had good reviews that I just trusted him. I don't ask many if any questions on this forum for fear of being ridiculed but others who have had the guts to ask questions have helped me learn so much. I google a lot and have bought some books but you are right, there are some or maybe just me that had no nut instructions and no follow up (except for weigh ins) care. If I ask questions he will answer them otherwise he rushes me out the door. He had this same (RNY) surgery 9 years ago so I thought I was getting someone good and someone who understood what we go through. I messed up big time. I'm just on my own along with reading answers to questions asked on this forum, books and google...

That's horrible that they left you hanging like that. Ask any questions you need. Im pre op and was kinda pissed they are making me have 3 visits with the NUT, but after reading your post I guess I'll survive... good luck

  9. Glad to hear you're doing better! Just remember when I come whining to you when

I can't have any yams or pumpkin pie. I'll be a beotch on wheels!

Why would you not be able to have yams or pumpkin pie? Just have a wee tiny slice of pumpkin pie after thanksgiving dinner and you'll be fine.

I'm hoping I'll with be a few days past opp and on a clear diet or I'll be pre op and on Protein shakes only....I could probably put some pumpkin puree in my shakes lol

  10. I've been thinking of getting 3 Indian looking feathers, a pink one for my mom, and 2 more for my dad and brother all of who have passed. Also some deer tracks too, maybe in glow in the dark ink. . Idk just something I'm kicking around. I don't know where I'd put it. I'm not much of a tat person but vBulletin I want something as a memorial/ancestry thing
