Third endoscopy today / stricture
Hey Pik. So sorry that you're having strictures. I am as well, I'll be going in Friday for my 2nd endoscopy. Looking forward to feeling better soon.

I hate food
I feel the same. I used to love food & cooking. I loved using fresh ingredients and cooking from scratch. It's just really weird right now. Nothing is appealing, nothing tastes good. A very strange experience. The plus side is that I've lost about 45 of the 83 pounds that I had to lose and I'm only 7 weeks out from surgery. I hope that I can stop the weight loss when it's time.

What to bring to the hospital?
I brought an extension cord for my phone charger and was glad I had because otherwise I wouldn't have been able to reach my phone.

Need some advice
Thanks! Just saw the doctor today. He suspects a stricture. I'll be having an endoscopy next week. Hopefully that will help. Has anyone had one? What should I expect?

Thank you everyone. I'm still throwing up a lot so I'll call Monday for an appointment.

Need some advice
I'm post op 4 weeks. I've lost 23 pounds since surgery. Over the last week and a half my stomach has grown more and more sensitive. There are very few things that I can eat without throwing up. I'm basically back on full liquids and even then, I throw up. Today I was only able to keep down 2 oz of cream Soup and 1 oz of yogurt. I'm also having trouble taking my Vitamins. I'm taking Zofran for nausea but it only helps a little. I've called the doctor's office twice and the nurse says that this is normal, but I'm not sure it is. This morning, I had to pull over three times during my commute to work and all I had consumed was a few sips of Water. Thoughts?

Size 12!
That's so fun!

gallbladder woes
I agree that gallbladder was a cakewalk compared to RNY.

How long?
I did clear liquids for 4 days, full liquids for 2 weeks and puréed for two weeks.
-
How many calories?
I am 2 1/2 weeks post op and work hard to get my 60 grams of Protein every day. I was curious, how many calories are you all consuming each day? Is anyone on MFP?
-
Should I call?
I still struggle a bit with scrambled eggs. Meat of any sort still doesn't sit well.

V8
On my full liquids phase, the low sugar v-8 was allowed. It was a welcome change from all the sweet tastes!

Protein Powder Struggles - I found relief
I am just over 2 weeks post-op and have really struggled to get all my protein in because I dislike the taste of the protein drinks and powder. So I ordered a powder recommended on one of the boards and it arrived yesterday. I love it! At 11 am, I already have 67g of protein. I had one scoop in my V-8 and a second scoop in my Crystal Light. I can't taste it nor did it change the texture of the drink. It's called Genepro and I ordered it directly from the manufacturer.

What is your goal?
I'm hoping to fit into my wedding dress again. We've been married for 23 years!

What is your goal?
The PreOp diet is difficult! Rest assured that post op, you won't be dealing with the hunger & cravings in the same way! I'm really looking forward to buying new clothes & some tall boots that will fit my calves!

Just out
I gained 5 lbs in the hospital... Apparently that is to be expected. It'll come. Just rest, relax and be patient.
-
Just out
For the first three days, I wondered what I'd done to myself, but I'm 10 days out now and feel remarkably better. Hang in there! It's worth it!

sleep study tonight
Yes, sleep apnea is a comorbidity

Phantom Pain
ShirleyJ84 - Are you feeling any better? Beginning yesterday I felt remarkably improved. Actually slept on my stomach last night and was able to roll over without pain.

Phantom Pain
Pik... That describes it well. It is like a ripping. Glad to hear that yours went away! These first few days post-op have been more difficult than I expected. I can't imagine feeling well enough to go back to work in 9 days.

Phantom Pain
I had my surgery on Tuesday and I have a strange pain to the lower right of my belly button. Seems too low to be caused by the bypass. The pain is quite intense and causes me to walk hunched over because stretching makes it worse. I also would be curious is anyone knows what may be causing this.

Got A Date: August 26!
My surgery went very well also. Stayed in the hospital 2 nights. Last night I wasn't feeling very well at all, but I'm doing better this morning. I'm having some trouble taking my pain pill. I think I'll break it into smaller pieces next time. One thing that I was surprised about is how swollen and bruised my stomach is. Rolling over in bed causes me quite a bit of pain. Came home from the hospital 7 lbs heavier than I went in. But hopefully I'll get down to my surgery weight this week. Thinking of all of you!

Any Born Again Christians?
LovedXJesus- I am a follower of Christ and I certainly prayed and was seeking God's will both regarding my previous weight loss attempts and regarding surgery. I believe that God has gifted mankind with medical treatment to help to mitigate the pain of living in a fallen world. I'm very much looking forward to being able to serve God with more energy in my new body. Best to you on your journey. I'll be praying for God to give you discernment regarding the decision.
