  1. They will numb the back of your throat and put a plastic thing between your teeth. You may not remember the procedure but you won't be "out". You will be laying on your left side and when you come back to yourself you will be in recovery. I worked in surgery for 15+ years and have done a lot of egd's. If this isn't exact it is pretty close. Hope that helps
  2. I am ready for August 26th!! I have been on a preop diet since June 20 and have lost close to 30# so far. I will have clear liquids on the 25th along with a doctor visit. So ready to have this done. Am a little nervous but know it will be better on the other side. Let me know if 26 is your day and we can try and be surgery buddies.
  3. Monique I am the 26th also!! I have been doing a weight loss diet since June 20th. But only have to do clear liquids the day before. Good luck to you!! Will be interested to see how you do.
  4. WOW! Just got scheduled for August 26th!!! The day before I will have my psych eval and last appt with the surgeon. I have been struggling with the last 2 pounds of my mandatory weight loss and boom now I am scheduled even though I haven't lost it. I have been on shakes and bars since June and will be soooo happy to finally get this done. Liquids post-op can't be as bad as liquids pre-op with a full size stomach. Still just blown away. Cannot wait to be done!!
  5. One minute at a time girl. What is done is done and now you have to move on. Remember why you are doing this. Make your next food choice healthy and before you try Cookies again drink some Water first.
  6. Glad I wasn't the only one that noticed all the food commercials. They never had an impact on me before but with the restricted pre-op diet they woo me like a sirens song.
  7. Am on my second month of "pre-op" diet and no date set yet. I still have a mandatory 4# left to lose. Had to cut out all bars and my once daily Protein food for more nasty shakes. Getting discouraged a bit. Have to make weight by Monday so he will schedule me. God give me strength.
  8. I'm a newby also. I had my first appointment in June and started the preop weight loss diet. Went in July and weighed in at 10# too much so going back August 4 to see surgeon and Psychiatrist and hope to get a day. My insurance covers not a penny and all these trips 5-6 hours one way are killing my pocket book. Plus I want food. Have only cheated once with a bite of black bread but getting bummed out and tired of jumping through hoops. I want this done because my window of time is closing due to my bosses due date and maternity leave. I still have 4# to lose by Monday and am down to very few shakes and Water. If I haven't lost the prescribed amount he will make me wait another month.
  9. I am going to Dr Broussard in Edmond
  10. I have been on 2 shakes, 2 bars and 3oz of Protein with 1/2 cup veggies since June 20th. I have only cheated once and that was with a piece of roll the size of a quarter. My doctor wants me to lose 26# before surgery and he won't schedule me until I do. I have 4# to go and they have cut me back to 2 shakes and the protein. My appt is next Monday and I am praying my surgery is in August. I want food so bad sometimes but I just keep trying. Good luck to you.
  11. I have been on a preop diet since June 20 with no surgery date yet. Also not dealing with insurance requirements since mine won't pay a dime. I have shake, bar, shake, bar and 3oz of Protein and 1 cup of fresh veggies at dinner. I can have a sf Jello or popsicle. I also have to drink a minimum of 64oz of Water daily.
  12. Yay for the approval and scheduled procedure! Wish my insurance would even pay a little but soooo happy for you
  13. He must have some kind of contract with this doc because he will not let me see anyone else. I have gotten all of the other list of things I can complete here already done. My physical is Friday and that leaves 9 more lbs, the psych eval and the support group meeting. I am doing this all private pay since my insurance doesn't cover anything related to weight loss tx.
  14. Well I will be making the 7 hour trip there and back two times in two weeks. When I got home before I talked to them all I wanted was to eat carbs but I didn't. I went walking and ate what I was supposed to and now I am glad I did. Still not happy about 2 14hour drives in 2 weeks but it is what it is. Thanks for helping me over the bump
  15. Hi. I am very upset and depressed. I have been doing the "diet" for almost a month and have all the requirements done with the exception of the psych evaluation and attending the support meeting and today they call and say that they need to reschedule the psych portion. I live 7 hours away from the clinic, made the appointment last month, took time off from work and now they are telling me he won't be available. Are you kidding me!!! I am supposed to be on the fast track...if this is fast I will eat my hat!. I only have a small window of time to get this surgery before it closes. Then I don't know what I will do. I am losing weight but not sure how long I can resist eating real food. I just want to cry or scream or pull my hair out in frustration. Please please anyone??
