Not sure I can keep going

Recommended Posts

Hi. I am very upset and depressed. I have been doing the "diet" for almost a month and have all the requirements done with the exception of the psych evaluation and attending the support meeting and today they call and say that they need to reschedule the psych portion. I live 7 hours away from the clinic, made the appointment last month, took time off from work and now they are telling me he won't be available. Are you kidding me!!! I am supposed to be on the fast track...if this is fast I will eat my hat!. I only have a small window of time to get this surgery before it closes. Then I don't know what I will do. I am losing weight but not sure how long I can resist eating real food. I just want to cry or scream or pull my hair out in frustration. Please please anyone??

Man, that is horrible. Can you cancel your day off? Maybe you could ask if there is a psych in your hometown you could see. Hoping it works out for you....Beth

Doesn't this doctor have a back up? I'd check that too. Best wishes!

How frustrating! Hang in there. Everyone has set backs. It is what you do next that counts.

Well I will be making the 7 hour trip there and back two times in two weeks. When I got home before I talked to them all I wanted was to eat carbs but I didn't. I went walking and ate what I was supposed to and now I am glad I did. Still not happy about 2 14hour drives in 2 weeks but it is what it is. Thanks for helping me over the bump

I agree with @4me4them. You can go to any psych. You don't have to go to theirs. I would get a list of the items from your surgeon's office that need to be addressed in the psych report and give that to the psych. That way, the report will be complete in the eyes of the insurance company. Good luck.. I can tell you really want this and will do well long term.

I didn't have near the drive to my clinic (only 4 hours round trip), but I completely understand the frustration. Every time something was rescheduled it was enough to make me want to cry because it was a whole day event. I hope you can get the surgery done within your needed window - stick with it if you can because in the end, the sleeve is totally worth it.

He must have some kind of contract with this doc because he will not let me see anyone else. I have gotten all of the other list of things I can complete here already done. My physical is Friday and that leaves 9 more lbs, the psych eval and the support group meeting. I am doing this all private pay since my insurance doesn't cover anything related to weight loss tx.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
