My sleeve surgery was 11 days ago. I've had diarrhea issues for years due to IBS (irritable bowel syndrome). For about a year now, I have been taking Probiotics, as recommended by my Gastroenterologist, with miraculous results. After surgery I didn't take it for several days and I had raging diarrhea until I started again. My bowels have been normal ever since starting to take them.Persistent diarrhea disturbs the normal flora in the intestines which causes the diarrhea. I take either Culturelle or Align (both are over the counter,
rotating between the two. After finishing one box of either the Culturelle orAlign, I switch to the other. I found that to be the most way. They are less expensive at Walmart or online. Hope this helps someone!

Damn I was hoping that wasn't the case because I really love my nutritionist she's just awesome but looks like I'm changing at the first of the year I'll call gbmc on Monday and get the ball rolling so I don't miss a month I really really hope the program at gbmc is just as awesome as the one at ummc
Hopefully, you think so too

I just got my date and I am nov 30th. I start my pre op diet on Nov 16th. Would love to find a sleeve partner.
Mine is also November 30th. I'm on Clear Liquids now for the next 2 days and then it's time. I am starting to get nervous - haven't been until now! Good luck! where are you from?

There are only 2 hospitals in MD that BCBS will approve - St Agnes and GBMC. I tried to get an exception from BCBSvbut they would not do it. I got all my records transferred and they scheduled me right away. My surgery is Monday....I am very impressed with their whole program and Dr. Devoc is awesome. She is due to have a baby Christmas Day and will be taking off 2 months. They have 2 other surgeons though

I've tried EAS Myoplex 42g of Protein - nauseating almost immediately. I know I'm not consuming enough but my doctor showed me photos of my sleeve and it's tiny. Suggestions?

I think Unjury is very good. I get the chocolate splendor - tastes like chocolate milk. Doesn't have that weird taste that some of the other Protein Shakes heve

My insurance is BCBS - Anthem....Make sure you don't have the same insurance. They will only ape ospitals in my state - MD
Mine has me penciled in pending insurance approval. Dec. 18. He only does surgeries there on Fridays & the next two Friday's of the year are holidays. So, they wanted to get me on the schedule.
Also, my insurance, BCBS, also suggested that we send all records after my 2nd nutrition visit, next Friday, since they can take up to 30 days to approve. My last nut visit is December 11 & I am needing surgery the following week! That way they can review everything pending that last appt & will know sooner if it's a go or a no go. -
Yup, I'm scheduled for December 1st but my insurance hasn't approved it yet. I asked my surgical coordinator about it and she said the 2 weeks is plenty of time and they rarely have any issues with my insurance. I'm prepared for them to have to move it back but if they don't then I'm ready! From what I have read in this group many Dr's pencil their patients in on their surgery calendar prior to approval.
I was told the same thing!

I' m so upset. My surgery was scheduled for Nov.9 but I received a call this morning that it has to be cancelled. Per my doctor's office, my insurance company will not approve the surgery because the hospital is not a "Center of Excellence". My insurance is Blue Cross Blue Shield (Anthem).......Extremely frustrated. Anyone else had this problem?????

I'm 62 years old and 1 week away from surgery. Would love to hear both positive and negative feedback from people in my age bracket. One of my worries is that with a dramatic weight comes the possibility of looking older - maybe I'm just vain, but would love to hear from you!

This forum really is helping me with the pre-op anxieties.......My surgery still scheduled for th th also but my insurance still hasn't approved me - BlueCross Blue Shield. That's worrying me the most nervous at this point

My surgery is also on the 9th, i also drink 2-3 Protein drinks and was told to have a cup of homemade chicken broth (which i am cooking now for the entire week) or cream of chicken or mushroom. We both start tomorrowI'm having my surgery on Nov. 9th as well I'm in Jersey. Good luck to you. I'm really nervous about starting my preop. diet Monday. I have to drink 2- 3 shakes and one small meal.
I got a letter in the mail yesterday telling me to do 3-4 Protein Shakes and 1 meal (meat&veggie) a day until the day before. Clear liquids the day before. Still nervous...my date is 11/9.

In some of the before and after pictures that I see, the person looks older. I'm 62 and worried about that

I'm on a 1000 calorie pre-op diet and from what I see posted, most seem to be on a liquid diet. I'm wondering why?

Thanks everyone!

Anyone go back to work after 1 week or is 2 weeks the norm?

I'm in MD and my surgery is also Nov 9th at 8:00 a.m. I've been reading some of the pre-op comments and it seems that a lot of people are on a liquid diet pre-op. I'm on a 1,000 calorie diet pre-op....I'm wondering, why the difference in protocol?

Hey guys I'm in Texas and scheduled for November 9th. I also have a low BMI. I don't go back to the doctor until 11/2 so if they put me on a preop diet it will only be a week. I'm so excited to meet people that are going through the same at the same
