Each day you will feel a little better until you are back to feeling normal.
It is challenging to learn to eat & drink often enough to keep your energy up. I especially have trouble in the mornings. I have more energy later in the day when I have had time to eat and drink more.

I had my GI test the day after surgery. just has to sip down 2 ounces, took some pictures, and 5 minutes later all done!

Congrats and well wishes on a speedy recovery! I am on post-op day 4. Feeling ok, but jus achy. Gas pain will not be pleasant in your shoulder, but when they remove drains, it will feel great!! Keep us posted!!

Very normal on the gas - this well even refer pain up into your shoulders - you can try GasX strips - they helped me along with walking, walking oh.....and walking
The feeling of your face getting hot is most likely hormonal or even blood pressure changes as your body is getting used to the difference in intake now (decreased calories, decreased salt etc). Make sure you drink your Water as this is very important. The number one reason for Gastric By-pass patients to return to hospital and get admitted is dehydration and this can make you feel like this as well. The cold thing is something that I experience almost all the time now - so weird as I used to be warm all the time (extra insulation ) and now I can hardly get warm - this must be the reduced calorie intake and my body conserving what is can for metabolism.
Of course, as a nurse I always say....if the symptoms continue more than a day or so you should always check it out with your doc. They would much rather you call and check in then end up in the E.R! Congratulations and good luck!

Thank you both. The other thing that's been happening to me is my face gets red and hot but the rest of my body feels cold. I'm wondering if this is hormones since mind were always out of whack.

This is VERY normal and will pass eventually. I was told that the best thing to do for gas is walk walk walk!

Hi everyone I'm new here. I had RNY Friday and I noticed that every time I'm up and moving around I get bad gas pain in my chest like I need to burp but can't. It eventually goes away or a little bubble comes up. Is this normal? I also feel like I get a little shortness of breath when this happens. Thanks for any feedback.

Ok feeling better...24 hours since surgery. Was laying at the hospital today, feeling very crappy, and I had a great nurse that told me to get my ass out of bed and walk! I am so glad she motivated me bc I did feel much better. Never thought it would be hard to sip an ounce of Water, but you learn quickly not to gulp! Only major complaint is the gas pain that has settled in my shoulder area! Ouchie! Hope everyone is doing well!!

Whoa! Ok, about 9 hours post op and needing some advice and encouragement. Very nauseous! And the pain in my chest from the gas is...well...painful! Whoever said to bring Chapstick is right on!! Thank you!! Can't start liuid diet until testing this morning is complete, but have no desire to eat or drink!! Would love to just sleep, but you know what it is like being in the hospital! Ok, I am keeping a positive attitude! Hope all the other sleevers are doing well!!

So excited, but the relaization that is happening has my anxiety through the roof! Little nervous and hoping I don't fail at this! I love food so much! But I love my kids more be want to be healthy. Almost game time!!

Hi @@KristenLee I was reviewing others list of things to pack. I took notice of pajamas, chap stick, laptop or cell phone (avoid visitors). I'm from Miami, Fl. I believe the stay is 2 days.

Getting closer 29th sleevers!!! So excited and sooo nervous! Few questions: where is everyone from? And what are we packig for the hospital stay.....if you have one (I stay 2 days)?!!
