Awesome, thanks for easing my worries. I did not realize that too much of a deficit can be a bad thing. I'll talk to the NUT about that. Thanks for the almond milk idea, never even heard of it before.
As far as my inaccurate chicken count, I've been eating about 4 oz of NOT FRIED (eek) chicken breast or thigh. In the Jambalaya, I use crumbled up and cooked cauliflower. If you haven't tried that before, it is amazing. Can't tell it's not rice when it's mixed in.
If anyone sees this in the future, I'm still doing Protein drinks because my goal for Protein is like 80+, and since I can eat about 4 oz of chicken or a cup of greek yogurt for a meal, it doesn't cover much. So, I've been drinking 2 glasses of milk with a scoop of GENEPRO (30 grams/scoop). Hoping it gets me up over that 80 grams of protein I'm shooting for. Is it ok that so much of my protein intake is in this powdered form? Quick question, if I'm more active than normal people (coaching football + normal exercising+vball) should I up my protein goal a little to help with recovery? It's something I'll ask my doc, but that isn't for like 3 weeks, so I'll put it to this group first.
Thanks so much, I feel a lot better that I'm not screwing anything up. Sounds like it's just my body taking its sweet time.
Rick
80 grams protein seems low for an active male. My surgeon's minimum for guys is 100 grams.

Yeah I ended up passing... we did have a cake and let the little ones blow out the candles and it didn't bother me one bit to pass on it for myself and let everyone else enjoy.
That was when I knew the sleeve was different from dieting; I sat right next to my nephews birthday cake and had NO DESIRE to even taste it.

I do, but for me, I treat numbers of pounds lost as milestones and not goals. I set goals for things I can control (the inputs: water/fluids, Protein, exercise, etc.) and not things I can't control like pounds lost.

My surgeon no longer does lapbands either (other than to take them out).

If you are only eating 500-700 calories then you probably aren't eating enough.I know I know, stalls happen, embrace it, etc.
I think that sometimes people on here who have been sleeved for a while and lost a lot forget how FRUSTRATING it can be. It's so hard at the beginning and to stall in the first few weeks is really annoying. I have been completely on plan and haven't lost a POUND in 10 days (I'm 17 days out). My weight is exactly the same. im sticking to my diet 100%. i just dont understand how i can be eating 500-700 calories a day and NOT losing weight. when I used to diet I'd eat 1200/day and lose tons the first few weeks, even without exercise. I feel like this was a waste of 14K and I'm failing and it's just not going to work for me.
I know this is probably over dramatic but it's so hard to stick to this diet and get used to all these new rules and then have NO reward. I just wanted to commiserate and find some support here. Needed to vent!
I HIGHLY recommend that you just stay off the scale until you can reliably get in all of your Protein and fluids and can up your calories. You are still healing from major surgery.

Interesting. Just out of curiosity, how many calories are you eating daily?
I am much further out than you so am eating closer to 1400-1600 with regular exercise.
Early out, I was closer to 1200-1400. Personally, until you can get at least 1000 calories, I think it is a good idea to just stay off the scale.
Early out, I only weighed at my doctors appointments.
The most important thing is to get in all of your protein and fluids.

As I progress to eating regular foods, can you please provide what your daily intake is for Breakfast, lunch, & dinner?
I would love to hear from people who have been successful with the sleeve, other than reading random menus online. What works for you that I may be able to adopt?
Thank you in advance!
What is your Protein target?

Not after surgery, but I have experienced vertigo before. It SUCKS!

You definitely need more Protein. Did your surgeon or NUT give you a Protein target? Mine is 100 grams and my surgeon's basic range is 80-100 grams.
Try searching Bariatric Center of Excellence manual to see if you can find some post-op food plans. I am surprised your surgeon didn't give you any post-op guidance.
Best of luck with your recovery.
-
What wrap are you referring to? Have you talked to your surgeon's office about your concern? That should be your first phone call.
-
There are Protein Shots but don't think they taste very good. Premier Protein gives you a great "bang for your buck", plus you NEED fluids. At 3 weeks out you shouldn't be minimizing fluids.

-
Not me, but I wouldn't have been able to shop and explore before surgery. It will really depend on your general fitness level and how well you are recovering. You certainly won't be able to lift or carry anything and will need to be sipping something almost continuously.
-
Welcome! You have come to the right place. Keep us posted on how you are doing and best of luck.

How much are we supposed to have in one sitting? I'm scared of drinking too much at once and stretching the pouch!

You posted in the sleeve forum. Were you sleeved? If so, you don't have a pouch. Sleeves don't stretch, especially with fluids.
Just keep sipping and you should be fine. If it is uncomfortable then you are drinking too much. Just go slow and sip, sip, sip.
-
It sounds like you are doing fine. But, you really do need to increase your fluids and Protein. Both seem low.

Is there a good app out there where you can track Protein, carbs, calories, Fluid intake?

I use MyFitnessPal.

Try slowing down and taking smaller sips. It will get better.

I do but I am over a year post-op.

Actually, these rates sound great. Have you tried getting insurance as someone who is self-employee lately?
Also, have you seen how much healthcare CEO's make lately? I don't know where you work but what does your CEO make? Those numbers have a lot more to do with what you pay than "political correctness" or whatever you are complaining about.
Employers had the chance to get out of the healthcare/insurance business if they would have supported single payer.
What the heck happened?!
