I am slightly further out then you, (by a month) and can relate to a lot of what you said & thanks for the reminder about the NSAIDs. I thought about that recently and stressed to my husband if I'm ever in the hospital and can't speak for myself, tell them no NSAIDs. Congrats to you & hope you eventually find your "match". In the meantime, enjoy dating.....

Has your Marriage Changed Since Surgery?
Kathy812 replied to Half of Bri's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My husband and I have been married 10 years. I was a size 16 when we met and when I had the surgery, I was a size 20. I am now a size 10. We have always had a great marriage. His love language is expressed by taking care of me ( cooking, cleaning & grocery shopping). He is not very romantic. He tries when I complain but he usually reverts back. That has always been a bone of contention in our relationship. Now, he is more romantic & pays attention to how I look, and I get more compliments. Don't get me wrong, he's far from a romantic, I doubt he ever will be, but he's definitely much better. I have to admit, since I've lost weight, I am also more flirtatious. I'm sure that helps I suggest having a heart to heart with him & share your fears/concerns before the surgery and have him share how he feels. -
@@Elode, I can relate to your post. I originally didn't share my surgery with everyone, just those closest to me because I needed a support team. Recently, I started telling anyone who ask. Not only is it freeing to be honest but it makes me accountable, since I KNOW a few people will be "watching" me. I am not at goal, still struggling, so the fear is real. However, I am a glass 1/2 full kinda gal. I will not return to a size 20. EVER.PERIOD. Stay diligent & keep your support team close. You will be the so-called "lucky" one.

Did anybody get surgery only letting minimal people know?
Kathy812 replied to lovelylala's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Initially I told my closest friends, husband, parents & sister. I didn't want ANY negative comments while going through the process because I knew it would be hard enough. I only wanted a support team. Fast forward a year later, now I don't care. Still not at goal but I feel I am living more normally and if anyone is struggling and needs advice about the surgery, i'd like to be available to them as three other people were for me. So freeing, now that it's no longer a secret. -
This is not necessarily a recipe, more of an option. I've used spaghetti squash as my "spaghetti" or I use shiratke noodles (no carbs) and added my spaghetti sauce to it. It's a really good option.

@@BLERDgirl, have you ever tried the steel cut oatmeal made with apple juice instead of water, in the crockpot? I heard it's delicious.

Frito corn chips! Can't get enough of them. So I put what I want in a snack size Baggie & eat it reaaaaal sloooowly. I allow myself this snack once a week. I refuse to give up everything. I just have it in moderation. Ok, ok sometimes twice a week-but I promise, no more then that.

@@kimmyco, to be honest, there is always that possibility that someone may take it as "bragging". However, I personally believe because it's a support group they need to SEE that they CAN reach their goals. I am a very visual person. I am a perfect example of someone a year out who hasn't reached goal. I would love to see someone walk in and share with me their journey. I say do it! If you helped one person, you have done your job. Congrats to you.

@@ZoeyBear, I agree with you, just read this thread pretty much all the way through. Will do a modified version of this starting TOMORROW! Had a busy last four days filled with out of town guest and lots of fun (aka food) ate way too many carbs. So, I needed to read this. Thankfully, I recently bought a case of protein shakes so I'm ready!!!! -

Doc says no fruit--EVER
Kathy812 replied to Whynotnow's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow, never is a loooong time. My team allowed fruit & encouraged low sugar fruits when I reached 3 months. Honestly, I barely was able to eat any fruit ( even though I craved it) at three months-belly was just still too swollen. I have a small honey crisp apple several days a week & I had half a banana and babybel cheese today. I do eat bananas maybe one day a week. -

@@shortcake48, you may get many different answers to this question. here's an example, my best friend is having her surgery at university of Chicago and she had her psych eval done the same day she met her surgeon, back in July. She is now going through all of the other required tests and is hoping to have her surgery in December. I had my surgery at Good Sam. After my Psych evaluation, which I had in August of 2014, I still had several test to complete and was not cleared for surgery until the middle of Sept. Of 2014, but I opted to wait till Oct.2014. I should also add my psych eval involved meeting with the doctor as well as coming back another day for the written test. My friend did not have to complete a written test, go figure. -
@BritishBornBabe. Please follow your Drs orders on drinking. You will get differing opinions. My bariatric team Initially said wait 30 min. After I drink to eat and recently changed it to 15 minutes. However, I am part of a Facebook group for sleevers & many of them say they were told they can drink up to the second before they eat. Still can't figure out why there are so many differences.
-
Please be careful you guys, drinking with you meal is not advisable. It causes the food to flush through your sleeve, allowing you the capacity to eat more. The stomach is a muscle, it can stretch-as explained to me by my P.A. I keep myself busy after I eat. It does get easier. I am one year out. Btw, I just remembered, someone mentionedon another thread that they ate lettuce after their meal (since lettuce is mostly water). it made it easier to wait the 30 minutes. You probably can't have lettuce yet, but something to store in the memory bank for later.
