  1. Alot of my friends are ignorant and don't do research before they open their mouths and make some stupid remarks. Mexico is NOT a 3rd world country and they don't do these procedures in an alleyway. I feel very comfortable about having it done in Tijuana. Granted the hospitals are not as big and fancy as the US hospitals but inside.......they are state of the art AND the doctors are NOT greedy......keep costs down and you can do they cheaper!! It would be even cheaper than $4200-5200 IF you did not have to go through an AMERICAN company as the middle man

Hey Packer, I know what you mean about stupid remarks. My family hit the roof when I told them I'm going to Mexico. My RN daughter even went to her doctor for support to help change my mind. I had to crack up laughing when he told her that many people go out of country for many different procedures as there are excellent well-trained doctors in other countries. Now here is the kicker. He is from India! Bwahahahahaha!

My co-workers gave me a hard time also. However when they realized how much research I have done and that I am serious they first made it the office joke. They were taking up organ donations in case the strip-mall doc removed a kidney or some other organ that I might need! LOL Now they are beginning to be curious and ask questions to which I always give straight forward answers.

I think it was just a matter of not being informed. My surgery is scheduled for November, but it has already been quite a journey!

  2. like I said I was not expecting the happy dance. But in the past when I came in there with issues it was always my weight. Now it is WLS. No one seems to be content with what ever you do. It is disheartening at times. I paid dearly for this and happy to have done it. You would think if he had nothing nice to say don't comment at all.

I hope he wasn't thinking oh she took the easy way out...Because if he had said that I would have crushed him! Not joking either!

Make a list RJ. There are a bunch of us ready to spit on them for you!! Prayers up for a complete healing along with peace and calm for your spirit.

  3. Hi everyone, I am 59 and I have appointment Jan 12 in Mexico with Dr. A Ortiz for sleeve surgery. I have read a lot about people who have gallstones after rapid weight loss and I am just wondering if anyone has proactively had their gallbladders out? Any thoughts and advice will be appreciated. Thankd

I have requested that mine be removed during the surgery along with repair of a small hernia. I have been having what I feel are some pains from gallbladder (not diagnosed) and are the same type symptoms my dad had with his. I surely don't want another surgery 5 or 6 months out and from all accounts I won't miss it.

  4. haleytrim where are you going in Mexico? pgerik have you found alot of reviews or testimonials for Ready4Achange? I assume you have. maybe you can private message me if you know how to do that. if you don't mind me picking your brain a little. thanks.

Tiajuana with Dr. jaime Ponce de leon. INT Hospital. There are several good surgeons in Mexico. I used to work in credentialing at LSU in Shreveport. So I just did what I did there. First google the surgeon's name and go from there. You are looking for education including fellowships, any teaching or training that he has done. Who he has worked with and any associations he is connected with like bariatric centers of excellence. Look for malpractice suits but don't give them a lot of credit unless there is a suspension attached. Some people will sue over a hangnail and some hospitals will pay to avoid any possible negative publicity.

  5. I would like to know also as I am scheduled for November. I have done a lot of research and I also used to do the credentialing for a hospital so I know what to look for. Everything I have seen is a pretty positive. As well as being very well educated and trained in bariatrics, he teaches. Also to be noted is that in addition to the staples, he uses stitches to prevent leaks. If anyone knows about his team, processes, or even bedside manner, please provide the info.

    Thanks.
