  1. That is so awesome! I know exactly what you mean about the blood sugar and blood pressure. I feel so positive about things now that I don't have to take insulin and a other meds I was taking. Just a little advice. Don't miss drinking your Protein and get in as much Water as you can. It will make you feel bad and nauseas if you don't. I did learn that the hard way. But am getting the hang of this now.

  2. @@atl921 and @@haleytrim, I'm so sorry you're both feeling bad! Hopefully one of the further-outs will have a good answer for you. I have been quite fortunate not to have much nausea. Could your doc prescribe something like Zofran to you? Maybe just getting it under control once will help get you on an even keel again. I had a prescription for 30 but apparently they're expensive and the insurance company only lets the pharmacy dole out 6 at a time ::eyeroll::.

Hey roundisashape Thanks for your good thoughts. I read somewhere on here that acid reflux could make you feel nauseas and sick. I had to start back taking my Nexium again and felt 95% better still a little shaky from not being able to get in enough liquids or Protein. Yea!!!! Thanks again to all the Vets.

  3. VSGAnn, you might well be right about the tuna - I'll probably try it because I'm hardheaded, but pre-op it was giving me heartburn (it's FISH?!?) and my mother always said it set off her "high-assed hernia".

HT, yep, we had the same date! Good luck tomorrow! Every surgeon's plan is inexplicably different. Ours has us on full liquids for a week (I counted it as a week from the day after release, not a week from surgery, since we only got Clear Liquids in the hospital), then 3 weeks of purees, and a month of soft foods. I do plan to start really, really slowly though - I'm nervous about it too.

roundisashape So glad you posted this. I needed a laugh this morning. Everyone else thanks for the posts and suggestions. I have been down for the last two days because after things have been going so well, I have started to have the yucks for the last 2 days and been very weak and shaky. Just the thought of putting something in my mouth, even broth, triggers my gag reflex. No pain, just the severe nausea. I am trying to force as much liquid as possible and I think the suggestion of mixing the Protein shakes with ice will help. Thanks again for all the posted suggestions.

  4. I am Type II diabetic. I was taking Janumet twice a day and 75 units of Levemir twice a day. I had my sleeve surgery on 11/17. I haven't had any insulin since I got out of the hospital. I am still taking the Janumet and will until my blood sugar drops under 120. I'm almost there. Also I was on 6 other meds, and including the Janumet I am on 3 meds now. I am thrilled and hope to

be off the blood pressure meds before long.

  5. Yea!! We did it! We flew out of San Diego to Dallas on Friday night and made it home Saturday morning about 1:30. Rested, sipped, walked and slept most of the day. I did go to the grocery store for some Soup and juices. The docs at INT Hospital in Mexico were surprised that I did so well. I had 3 procedures and only had a very little pain when I first woke up. No nausea or throwing up. Having a little trouble with my blood pressure, but no insulin since Wednesday. Down 14 pounds since this started.

  6. That was a really big concern for me as my insurance does not cover any weight loss treatment and will not cover any complications caused by weight loss surgery. I am 5 days post op from Mexico and everything has been text book. Thank the Good Lord and everyone on here who sent prayers up for me.

Anyway, I will see my GP for BP and endocrinologist for diabetes, and hope for the best.

As for my surgeon in Mexico, Dr. jaime Ponce de leon has a great team and I couldn't have been in better hands. I had the sleeve, gallbladder removal, and a small hernia repaired. The Docs and nurses at INT Hospital said I did better with my 3 procedures than most people do with just the one procedure.
