  1. I was sleeved on June 23rd. I'm doing well drinking liquids. When I go walking or try to workout I immediately get exhausted. My energy levels just bottom out. Does anyone else have this issue and how are you dealing with it? I'm getting very frustrated.

    Bottomless Pit

I know how you feel. I was sleeved on 06/23/14 and I was worried that my sleeve was broken because I could drink a 16 oz bottle in less that 5 minutes. Getting my liquid in has been no issue. I emailed my Nutrionist and she told me to calm down, that my intake of liquids was awesome and that we are all different. I may have less swelling than most people, which is a good thing. Does that mean I've been good, not all the time. I've experimented with a slice of pizza and was depressed when I ate it and didn't have to hurl. The thing is I'm not hungry and so I've been able to follow my liquid diet. But eating isn't the same, I'm stopping because I know I should, but the warm being full to almost bursting is gone. I understand that I may never have this feeling again, but my smaller stomach means I need less food. It's a life altering change that I'm struggling coming to terms with. . ,

Very physical job and worried :(

I'm getting 6 weeks off so that I can recover. Talk to your doctor and explain your concerns. The Family Medical Leave Act ensures that your employer can't get rid of you if you have medical time off, up to 3 months.

    Okay to Graze at First?

My surgeon and nutritionist has me on a liquid only diet for 3 weeks. I drink a small amount of protein shake if I get hungry. He seems more focused on me healing internally than getting in food. I also drink 64 oz of non-caloric liquid a day. I've been doing really well and I have dropped over 20lbs in 2 weeks. . . But I'm interested to see what happens to that weight loss when I add soft solids to my repertoire.

    June 2014 Sleevers Check In!

I had my 2 weeks post-op today and my Dr. told me that I could start some circuit weight training.

I get the urge to jump to the next phase. I struggle to stay in the soft solids phase, but I'd rather be safe than cause a complication with my pouch.
  7. I live in San Antonio. Dr. John Pilcher did my VSG on 06/23/14.

I use premier protein. I've liked it. I usually use vanilla or chocolate. I blend half a cup of fruit into it or spinach/kale. I find the taste tolerable. A container is on,y 160 calories and 30 grams of protein.

My plan at the moment is to drink a protein shake in the morning that I blend with spinach and/or a fruit like strawberries. Lunch will be protein and a veggie and/or bean. Dinner will be another protein shake with kale and/or fruit. I just want to take advantage of the first 6 months of weight loss. Any comments/advice/suggestions.

I just had my surgery on the 23rd of June. I'm starting soft solids this next week. Does anyone have any menu suggestions, examples of what was best for them during the transition? I'm also interested in the menus of people that successfully lost weight in the first few months after their vertical sleeve. Any suggestions and/or links to resources will be greatly appreciated!

    June 2014 Sleevers Check In!

I'm a June 23rd surgery date. I'm still on liquid diet until Monday. I've tried a few solid items and I've have no problem eating. I still don't feel hungry! When I get to phase 2, I guess I will see that change.
  12. I'm getting cabin fever! But I'm sticking with staying at home and healing!
  13. Thanks, I was beginning to think my surgery went wrong! I have my first post op visit on the 9th.
  14. I had my surgery on June 23rd. I'm down nearly 20lbs, still in my liquid only phase. I'm worried because I have no issues with drinking. I can down a 16 oz bottle of water in less than 3 minutes. Is there something wrong with my sleeve?
