    Size 20's are gone FOREVER!!!!

I was a tight 26-28 when I began......I was 287 pounds the week before my surgery. I am so happy that I am no longer in the 20+ sizes I cannot begin to tell you how great it feels. Thanks everyone, for your support!!

How much exercise do you get?

I work out 6 days a week at the Healthclub we joined three months before my surgery. I do Water aerobics three times a week and a body pump class and then the other days I alternate weight training and the treadmill and stationary bike.....I am addicted to my working out and I feel so so much better from it. I can run up three flights of stairs and I could barely climb three sets of stairs before my surgery. I can't say enough about moving your butt.....I have had no gains of weight since my surgery......and I have had no fill either!

    I need support

Remember the band is for slower weightloss, you are right on the average so that is great. Also the slower the weight comes off the more likely your skin will react better as well. We all want instant results, but honestly we did not put this weight on overnight, nor will it come off over night. With all of that being said, I believe that staying the course and working your butt off is the answer for the large weight loss that you will see with the BAND. I know that I am not the norm here, I have lost a trememndous amount of weight in a short time, and it is becuase I want it so bad, that I do not deter from the healthy eating nor do I stop pushing my butt harder at the gym. This has all paid off in a really big way for me. You are doing great, so do not beat up on yourself too badly. We all have had days I am sure where we ate something that we said wow perhaps I could have eaten better, but you are not gaining back any weight so that is why you were banded to begin with. Remember "Steady wins the race" You will do it, just remain focused.

    Fear nagging my heart

Do you have any symptoms of slipping? Are you throwing up or PBing all of the time? I doubt it has slipped. This is not as common as it once was because of how they now attach the band. If you are worried and have symptoms, definately call your DR do not wait though.

  9. Oh Lord I remember this, I had a horrible time getting in the required amount of Fluid. I literally had to stay up late and get up early to have enough time in the day to get it in and I still wasn't doing it consistently til probably 4 weeks out and then it still was a struggle some days. My advice is to sip and sip and sip some more and when you think you can not sip another thing do it some more.....LOL The Water is so very important in getting the fat out.....LOL Good Luck!!

Welcome and thanks for sharing your very personal experience. I agree that your mom is always with you. She is proud of you for raising your little girl and trying to be the best mom you can for her. You will find this one of the most motivating and uplifting sites for BANDSTERS. It has helped me in so many ways, I found it months before I was banded and began reading everything I could on it......LOL We are all here for you......just ask!! Good Luck!!

    health insurance after band

You should be up front with it, because of you do not tell them, then they will not cover anything that happens with it because you did not disclose it to them. However, some will say it is a preexisting condition and some may not depends on the company I believe. Good Luck!!
  13. Congratulations!! I am right there with you. I can now get on my size 18 jeans and have been unable to for the last 5 years!! Way to go keep up the tremendous job you are doing and you will be at goal before you know it!!

    Lap Band Perspectives

I began this process just as most of you, one year ago I went to my first seminar on the band, and I realized if they can do this so can I. I made the appointment to meet with the surgeon and went to the classes that you have to attend first. I scheduled surgery Nov 9th. I have also not looked back. I am thrilled with my nearly 70 pounds in 4 months and with no fill to boot! I have become healthier than I have been in my adult life. I can run up three flights of stairs.....and I can walk 5 miles and still have energy to go shopping. I can pick up my grandsons both of them at the same time.....one is 4 and one is 17 months. I have a lap again......I am nearly in a size 18 and will be saying goodbye to the 20's forever. I am actually feeling SEXY for the first time in over 5 years. I love this part. I have actually been asked what changed to give me so much confidence I guess I walk with it now. LOL I actually walked past a group of guys at the mall last weekend and they actually turned to look at me, that made this grandma smile believe you me.....LOL I still have 80 pounds to go, but I know that I can do this, and I am happy to stay the course. I love how my body is reshaping itself. I love the closeness that I have found with others who have made this journey with me, this group here is wonderful in supporting me in my goals and making me feel good about my accomplishments. I have never been good at compliments, they are getting easier to hear each and every day. Congratulations to us all!!!

What kind of excerise is everyone doing?

I do Water aerobics three times a week and a Body Pump class once a week, and I walk on the treadmill for and hour and do biking as well I work out at a local gym that I joined three months before my surgery. It has been the best investment I have ever made. I afford it easily by the $ saved on food that I was spending before surgery. I can't imagine not working out. I love the high feeling that I get from it. I keep it mixed up though so my body does not get used to the exercise. I am meeting with a personal trainer soon, so hopefully he will help me do just that.

    Central Illinois Peoria-Bloomington Area

LOL Carol I have been shopping alot in my closet. I still have tons of size 18 and 16 and 14 that I am eyeing, I will be in them soon I hope. It seems to be teasing me right now, I am nearly there, but not quite...LOL
  17. I try to stay between 1000-1200 a day, and I do that fairly well except the week I had strep and that was a bad week I hardly ate anything. I know it is important to eat so that your body believes it will not be starved.

    Taking Medication After Surgery

I took larger pills but I cut them in half and have had no problem with them, however I do not have a fill, I am not sure what trying to swallow it whole would of felt like, but I would rather not risk it.

    Protein...

unjury is a good source of Protein as well....20 grm per serving I was told 60+ grams per day for ever!!
  24. I have not had a fill and I am 4 months out and I am losing just fine. My surgeon said he will not even consider filling me til my weightloss slows dramatically. He said I have lost the amount of weight that some lose in a years time. I am happy with my status thus far.
