  1. Hi Bari-Pals, question for some of you veteran by-pass'ers... I did a boneheaded thing and lifted a bag with three gallons of milk in it and I have a lot of burning and a pulling sensation on my right side near one of my "punctures". Do I just rest, like I am now, and ignore this or do I call my Dr.'s office and fess up. Help, advice needed, please and thanks!
  2. Hi Pals, I had an appt today and confessed and he checked me out and I'm fine. I had my one week post op a day early because of their holiday week schedule and I'm down 7 lbs since surgery. Yay!!! I'm psyched!!! But I was ALSO TOLD I CAN HAVE Cheese!!!!!! Laughing Cow creamy lowfat cheese wedges. I had two and I was in HEAVEN!! Lol

    I'm a post-op girl!

That's OK! Welcome and good luck on your new journey!
  4. Hi! I had RNY bypass on 6/25, and at 5 days out I'm feeling really great! I feel "gurgly" if that's even a word, lol... when I take small paced sips from my sippy cup. Yes, I actually bought sippy cups at the Walmart because I know I'm apt to gulp if I don't. I have to say that it's helped immensely. I just had 4 oz of Unsweetened almond milk with sugar free nesquik for my lunch and it went down great. I dare say it was even yummy compared to the protein drinks I've been having. Thank you for posting everybody, I love reading how everyone is doing. I can't wait until day 10, when I get a little more variety in my food options. I love everybody's surgery/progress tickers, where do I get one?

    White tongue! eeeekkkk

I'm glad that it's better!!! There is Protein in the Isopure drinks (I am doing those too, nasty, I add diluted diet cranberry juice to mine and sip what I can) and I'm also on Almond milk which has protein in it too. I am taking Unsweetened vanilla Almond Milk and I bought some sugar free Nesquik to add to it today to pretend i'm having a chocolate milk, lol. I will let ya know how it is. Just a heads up, I googled "Jessica Marie" on you tube, she had gastric bypass a while ago and chronicled her entire journey from day 4 post op to a year after. She was truly encouraging to me and was the one who told me about the Nesquik trick. I had the Roux en Y gastric bypass, not the sleeve, and can only have 4 oz of whatever liquid four times a day. At least one of which is a Protein Drink like the Isopure. I also have Syntrax nectar "Roadside Lemonade" Protein powder and I'm gonna add that to my crystal light lemonade for that protein punch. I have a few different things so I don't get bored doing the same thing all the time, as it's hard enough being on liquids only. It would be worse to be on the same damn liquid every meal, lol. I also have sugar free Lime Jello that I try to throw in the mix just so I don't have to drink everything each meal. I'm looking forward to day 10 when I can have a little more variety. Keep up the good work Pals, you're doing great!!!! Love, Kel

    Watery BM's

My surgery was on Wednesday and I've had nothing but air pass through my bowels and I'm ready for something... anything at this point to break loose, lol. I feel very bloated and gassy still, although much less painful than the gas had been on Thurs/Fri. I was discharged a little more than 24 hours after my surgery and they never asked me if I did anything other than pass gas. I'm still hoping for something to happen sometime soon. But like you, I'm still on all liquids so I'm not expecting much. Please feel free to "friend me" as I'm new to this group and looking to make contacts to share information with and encourage along this new journey! God Bless!
  7. Hello everyone! I'm currently beginning day 4 post op and just found this group. I am happy to meet new people and to hear any tips and suggestions that will help make this new journey more successful. I am feeling well, only took one pain pill mid day yesterday, still struggling with gas bubbles causing discomfort, other than that I feel great! Please don't hesitate to say hello and introduce yourself, (happily married though, not looking for anything "else") especially if you just had surgery also and might be able to walk this new life along with me! Have a blessed day!

    Can't see straight!

I felt this way too, but only while I was under the influence of my Ultram. I took one pill mid day yesterday (day 3 post op) and haven't taken one today because of how it weirds out my eyes. Do you notice if this is in conjunction with while you have meds in your system or is it seemingly unrelated? Keep me posted.

    I'm a post-op girl!

I did a lot of walking while I was in the hospital and it didn't seem to make a difference in my gas issues. I still feel like I need to pass gas all the time, lol. I'm not really sure what you mean by the flying abdomen, hehe. I've coughed basically since I was in recovery, and I was hesitant but it's not that bad. I still haven't gone #2 and was wondering if you have had issues with this also.

Hi NewJulie! Good luck on your surgery tomorrow! Are you having the bypass or gastric sleeve?

Hello! I too am a post op girl, just beginning my 4th day with this new lifestyle. How are you feeling? I'm still having trouble laying or sitting comfortably because of the gas bubbles. How are you doing with this? I have had little to no hunger which is very different for me. Nice to meet you and feel free to write back at anytime.
